2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Maybe we shouldn't be so harsh on the new police sets until we have seen more images especially shots of the interior of the police station. Though from what I can see so far it's exterior is a backward step to 2011, 2008 and even 2005 police stations. Sadly we need to wait till the New York Toy Fair in February to see both first and second waves together to see if 2017 is a boom or bust year for Lego City.

I think everyone read the list wrong, the 2015 top seller list was kind of vague, it might not have been a top seller, but a top money maker.

And on the plus side I got 60047 for $54 instead of $100 on clearance. More police = more clearance.

Yep, Walmart. It was 'Half Off" because for some reason their price was like $109 or something odd. Also found the Space Shuttle and Diver Boat for half off. Still very happy and when I get some spare money I want to buy some windows to replace al the bars and make it into an office complex and then redo it into a modern day 6398 which I always wanted as a child.

But that's besides the point. But more police staff that looks just like the last means more deals. And at least the plane and the boats look very nice.

Well, if it was a wider sale, it might not just be a thing of abundance of police sets. Was it a city sale?

It was a wide spread Walmart USA sale in July when they were sticking out the new sets and getting rid of the older ones. It was Police, Deep Sea, Space Port City stuff, First wave Elves, Ghost NinjaGo stuff, a few Creator sets.

This site isn't really used for sales, I go to toysnbricks.com for that stuff.

Your best bet is now Target.com if you are in the USA. They had a 20% off sale where a ton of things were already 20% off. The current Police Station is $65 and if they have a 20% off sale again that be cheaper than I paid.

If not just wait 3 years and LEGO will release a station that looks very much like the 2014 one. :)

I'm glad the Pizza Van seems to be some kind of foodtruck..that can open a side. it is just what i was looking for!

I also like the very low dark-red sportscar that comes with one of the police sets... looks like a racer-kind of design!

The fishing boat looks cool in terms of pieces and value. Having said that, I realy love pretty much all lego boats in general. I am also very hyped for the rumoured pizza van and I hope it to be like that old system set - pizza to go! As for the police stuff, I am pretty sick of 4x4 police trucks but I wouldn't mind a nice new police station with a good interior

That the next CC styled set will be an "Assembly Square" is good and bad news for regular City fans:

It's bad news because consequently it's very unlikely that we'll get a city center (like in 2013 and 2015), too. So we very supposably have to wait for another city square for 2018 (which is btw the 60th birthday of Town/City, so there has to be a very big civilian set in the City theme to celebrate this (like 10184 in 2008)).

But it's even good news since this confirms that we'll get that rumored Hospital theme and there's a big chance that the hospital itself will be built in a decent size with a decent interior.

 

Btw: Which Hospital sets do you await? 1. Hospital itself with ambulance and small rescue heli, 2. big rescue heli, 3. ambulance and 4. hospital starter set? In one of these sets there has to be a doctor's car, don't you think?

Hospital would be a great addition. I like to have technicians on different lab coats as well a variety of nurse and doctors in uniform-- with new tools/utensils appropriate for hospital theme.

So is this rumoured for 2H 2017 or 1H 2018?

Hospital ("ambulance") and Harbor ("more boats") will be summer 2017 releases (legomilk posted "..." and he is an absolutely reliable source).

That we get only two themes in the first half of 2017 (Police and Great Vehicles) is for me a clear sign that the summer wave will be huge and costly.

I know that it's very early for this, but in contrast to a new Creator train, which is imo absolutely unlikely since we got the Winter Train firstly in 2016, I could well see an exclusive City train (e. g. a track repair train or an elevated train - I'm still dreaming).

I think legomilks ambulance is the red and yellow pizza van. We've already seen another boat in the leaks: the catamaran.

Edit: my memory mistook the sportsplane for another boat. So maybe w'ere still in for summer hospital/harbour

Didn't expect Coast Guard until 2018 but not complaining. Looks like 6 main sets ie excluding polybags which is the same amount of sets released in this theme in 2008 and 1 more than was released in the 2013 series.
