Klaus-Dieter Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 Which concerns the coast guard sets: Whether there'll be sets which are worth buying can firstly been judged after having seen good pictures. I highly doubt that every set will be that interesting. But there's one really positive thing - namely that finally the CG people get a HQ! Hopefully it'll be more decent than the one from 2008. Plus TLG is now more aware of the importance of including civilian stuff even in themes like Police, Fire and Rescue. So I could even see a small beach scenery, an overturnde yacht or a small cargo ship which rammed a rock. Don't you think? 37 minutes ago, lightningtiger said: Freight terminal could be for road frieght......YES please because we only need a truck stop one day and my life will be 10% complete ! LOL I really like the idea of some sort of very small re-design of the Cargo Center (which I sadly don't own, but which wouldn't go with these days City sets anyway), lightningtiger. But - like already said - I honestly doubt that the set will be this. Quote

Here are the summer sets list and their prices. Note: these are Google-translated names 60153 - Fun at the Beach (€ 49.49) 60154 - Bus Station (€ 49.49) 60156 - Jungle Buggy (€ 6.99 60157 - Jungle Starter set (€ 10.99) 60158 - Jungle Cargo Helicopter (€ 21.99) 60159 - Jungle Mission with half-track vehicle (€ 32.99) 60160 - Jungle Mobile Laboratory (€ 54.99) 60161 - Jungle Research location (€ 109.99) 60163 - Coast Guard Starter set (€ 10.99) 60164 - Rescue Seaplane (€ 21.99) 60165 - Rescue Vehicle 4x4 (€ 32.99) 60166 - Heavy Rescue Helicopter (€ 54.99) 60167 - Coast Guard Headquarters (€ 109.99) 60169 - Freight Terminal (€ 82.49) Here's what I think may come with some of the sets going by the prices listed and whats gone before! 60153 - Fun at the Beach (€ 49.49) - Hopefully this comes with a Lifeguard and high seat, Ice cream seller with cart and A vollyball net in place of the football goal. 60154 - Bus Station (€ 49.49) - Bus will probably be along the lines of the ones from 7641 City Corner and 60026 Town square for city use rather than the coach type from 8404 Public transport but will likely have a bus stance similar to the ones from 8404 and 60097 City Sq. Maybe has a car and 4 minifigs 60156 - Jungle Buggy (€ 6.99 - Sounds similar to 60105 Fire ATV. 60163 - Coast Guard Starter set (€ 10.99) - usual 4 figs related to the set with either a Jet ski or ATV 60164 - Rescue Seaplane (€ 21.99) - similar to the one from 60015 but this time without the boat 60165 - Rescue Vehicle 4x4 (€ 32.99) - Seems a high price for just a 4x4 so will be interesting to see what this is, but hopefully not oversized like 7726 Coastguard with speed boat was. 60166 - Heavy Rescue Helicopter (€ 54.99) - could be along the lines of 60093 Deap sea helicopter with twin rotars going by the name Heavy Rescue but could be similar to 60123 Volcano Suppy Helicopter due to price increases. 60167 - Coast Guard Headquarters (€ 109.99) - the one I'm looking forward to seeing and at the price expect this to have a large boat included and will have some form of on land station/hq, mini helicopter and ATV or Jet Ski. 60169 - Freight Terminal (€ 82.49) - Now is this to be this years Harbour??? but I too am hoping for something similar to set 6391 Cargo Centre with small helicopter, truck, forklift and 5 figs? marv Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I am really looking forward to see the coastguard sets. Do you think TLG will keep the same color scheme (white / orange / blue) ? I alwalys liked it. 60165 - Rescue Vehicle 4x4 (€ 32.99) will probably be something like 60152-1 Sweeper-Excavator an Unimog like short 4x4 truck with trailer and rescue boat and 2-3 minifigs. Quote
Wodanis Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'm excited for the summer wave sets. The jungle theme sounds very imaginative and fun. I suspect you are correct about the Heavy Rescue Helicopter scottwb2010. I'm wondering if the freight terminal might be a train set? The last Rescue vehicle 4x4 set was terribly overpriced here in Canada, at the time I picked one up in the UK for less which was unreal. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the new images. Quote

Since there are always Friends sets which you can include very well in a city (like this year's villa) and some which absolutely not (e. g. last year's rollercoaster / ferris wheel / skyfall set). Btw: Do you think, too, that in the CG theme there'll be small sceneries included to tie with the Fun At The Beach set? Quote
The lego fan Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'm super excited for fun at the beach (I own fun at the park) and the bus station (I'm intrigued what LEGO will include in this set)! As for the jungle sets, I'll have to wait for pictures to say if they're good or not. The research location sounds the best while I'm pretty bored of helicopters. The freight terminal should be good too. The coast guard sub theme probably tempts me more than the jungle one (as jungle doesn't really fit with most city sets) and I'll look forward to the hq (finaly) and the starter set (it's cheap). Overall, a pretty strong wave of sets that could be improved only minorly. Good job LEGO! The lego fan Quote

LOL You know I didn't think the freight terminal could be part of the harbour sub-theme though it does make sense. I still hope it's a road freight depot with a fork lift and a truck, etc.,. Quote

I see no reason that you couldn't use last year's Amusement Park sets in a City setting. From my experience, it's pretty normal for fairground or amusement park attractions to be bright or even psychedelic colors. The Bizarro, the Raptor, and the Joker are some particularly colorful coaster examples. I remember having a hard time understanding a lot of complaints about the Creator Expert Ferris Wheel's colors as well. Maybe these sorts of rainbow-colored amusement park rides are more of an American thing, while rides elsewhere have more constrained color schemes? IDK. Quote
mssm Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 This is really interesting. In 60097 City Square set one of the stickers pointing us to 2017 sets. It is meant to list the bus lines in city and got this text: Police HQ (2017), Harbor (2017) and City Center. After Bus Station 60154 there is a an emtpy row for 60155. 60155 City Center? This year's D2C City? Quote
jonwil Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 If Fun at the Beach includes as many new minifig bits (torsos/heads/etc) as Fun at the Park did, I am definatly interested. Quote
Agent 86 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'm particularly excited about the "Bus Station". Fun at the Beach could be interesting too, especially with the rumoured Creator swimming pool. It's nice to see Lego continuing with mini figure boxed sets after Fun at the Park (which I still need to buy). Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) So to summarize there are still three remaining sets: 60155: An exclusive civilian set (maybe a small street scenery since apart from the bank there's otherwise no single civilian house in 2017)? Or the advent calendar? I hope that the first one will be the case. 60162: The advent calendar? Or an exclusive JE set? The first option sounds more supposably to me since there are already six (regular) JE sets. 60168: It is listed at Brickset as a CG set, consequently will even be an exclusive CG set. But what could it include since there already will be a heli and a waterplane in the regular sets? 6 hours ago, mssm said: This is really interesting. So these stickers do not neccessarily have to say anything. But I agree with you that there could be and should even be another civilian set this summer - supposably an Exclusive (since otherwise it would have been in the list). Doubtment here that it'll be a whole city center since TLG for sure keeps a huge (exclusive) civilian set for 2018 for te 60th birthday of City / Town (if this was proven wrong, I'd eat my hat.) But maybe a small street scenery with one or two 8x16 / 16x16 buildings might imo be possible. 7 hours ago, Aanchir said: I see no reason that you couldn't use last year's Amusement Park sets in a City setting. In this case it's not the colors which disturb me (since here in Europe these rides are very colorful, too), but the imo very undecent build (only two minifigs can sit in the skyfall ride, there are much to thin "holds" for the gondolas of the ferris wheel and the rollercoaster is simply a bad joke). TheLunabrick Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I dont know how I feel about the jungle sets yet, Ill have to see them. I hope we get to see some new animal figs like maybe a Tiger or Leopard or something. Maybe a bigger snake than the one we've gotten for a while. Quote
jonwil Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Its possible the exclusive Coast Guard set is a boat of some sort. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Fun at the Beach sounds great but if it is to be as popular as Fun at the Park, there will need to be a similar number of new moulds and torsos to maintain the same interest. I bet the duck rubber ring piece from the Batman CMFs will be included without the Bat-mask. Jungle sets sound great too and will be a must buy if they contain new moulded animals. Mainly as we won't see them again like the elephant from 2003. Wish we had an annual set with new animals every year so quite excited for City 2017! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) Do you think, too, that there'll be some traps and cages for getting the tigers / jaguars / panthers / whathever kind of big wild cats under control? 9 minutes ago, lifeinplastic said: Fun at the Beach sounds great but if it is to be as popular as Fun at the Park, there will need to be a similar number of new moulds and torsos to maintain the same interest. I thought once more about the minifig selection: The set would only be really cool and selling well if TLG printed the legs of the majority of the minifigs - even of the kids' pants - so that they look like wearing trunks. But that's much more costly than regular, one-color legs. And the most beach torsos won't be able to be used for regular City sets. So I could even imagine that the number of minifigs will be less than the one in the FATP set. Edited January 9, 2017 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
