2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Here are my thoughts on them.

Gangster Squad: Sounds Interesting, would be a nice Army Builder.

Police Chase: Of Course, might be cool though.

Sports Plane: Like the Idea of that.

Beach Buggy: Looking forward to seeing that.

Monster Truck: Might be cool to go with the one from 2014.

Fishing Boat: Love that set, dusting off my Beach to put It back in my town.

Truck With Catamaran: I like the Idea. Will be getting that.

Truck with Quads: Interested to see how they do that.

Pizza Van: Very excited to see that.

Dragster Transport: Meh

Street Sweeper and Truck: Should be cool to get some more service vehicles In my town.

Mobile Police Truck: No Intent on getting that.

Police Starter Set: Likely getting. I'm a sucker for cheap add-on's for my Town

Police Station: The 100th one. Might get It for parts to Make my own. I have 2014 but I used that for some MOC's.

Bank Robbery: Interesting.

Service Truck Heist: Could be cool.

I agree and I find this a quite concerning trend in recent years. Sets like the Service Station 60132 are really shocking. 90 USD for 500 pieces.

Yeah City now cost more than Star Wars. I bought the space shuttle for half off and still feel ripped off.

I just bought last years police set 9Also half off), it's my first real one. I bought the World City one 15 years ago. Last year's and the City police station before that are my favorites. I actually like Police Stations, they are different and fun every year, means they are on clearance more often. What I hate is is every fire station looks exactly the same.

The Pizza truck sounds cool, as does the Service Truck Heist. Hopefully there will some hospital themed sets as well, Lego city could do with beefing up its medical emergency services.. you know in case it all goes wrong on one of those volcanoes.

Ooh, good, another police station in 2017. LEGO police stations (including the nice prison we got this year) are always good parts packs :)

And I can always use more cops (says the guy who owns every City police station except one and many other police sets besides :)

I'm wondering if we are going to possibly be returning to Police sets stylized like those released from 2008-2011. The reason I wonder about this is that in a Ninjago set released just this month, 70591 Kryptarium Prison Break, reuses the police torso from that time period in the security guard. That torso hasn't been used for 5 years, and it's the first time to my knowledge that Lego has reused a police torso after such a significant time has passed. Especially since the Police style was updated for 2014.

In addition, there is a Lego Dimensions pack coming out in the future sometime that features Chase McCain from the Lego City Undercover video game for Wii U. The police in this game are stylized exactly like the 08-11 sets (and thus, use the same torso), with a good amount of the 08-11 police sets existing verbatim in Undercover. The printed 1x2 tile in that Dimensions screenshot is also identical to these earlier sets. Granted, this is probably a very an unlikely scenario, but I think these two facts can't be ignored.

Gangster Squad conjures up thoughts of something from the 1920s-1940s, and we know LEGO going there is too good to be true. Sport plane could be a couple of things, in my mind. Bank Robbery and Service Truck Heist could be interesting. Let the waiting game begin, I guess.

60135: Gangster Squad?: Sounds like the Police Starter Set but with crooks and maybe less pieces.

60138 Police Chase: A police car, a policeman, a crook and either a motorcycle or pickup. There!

Here's to hoping the ambulance comes to something, a big gap in the city line they're missing me thinks.

Based in the list doesn't look they've paved much way to put to use the new baby or wheelchair introduced this summer, I'd hoped they were a precursor for some new and exciting things in the city, and in general, but nothing here seems to suggest that, unless they're going to drop them into another set later in 2017

There do seem to be some amazing sets! I'm mainly really excited about the bank themed sets, the street sweaper and truck, the fishing boat and the pizza van! More nautical and urban stuff is always welcome since these are the City subthemes I like the most (harbor and downtown)!

It's only a pity that there's still no TV broadcast van and no pisten bully yet!

Do you have got any clue what a service truck (heist) shall be?

Do you mean that there actually will be more sets coming out in the 1st half of 2017 and that you only dont' have got the set names and numbers of them - or do you mean that the ambulance won't be part of the 1st half of 2017 City lineup?
