de Gothia Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 As Said by puvel, they were great on their own but This is just mindblowing!! Really like the whole layout!! Great work guys!! Quote
BrickFever Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 This MOC is fantastic, it must weight a ton! Quote
Brandon Stark Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 This town is very impressive. I cannot spot any part of the build that doesn't have detail. The mountain is amazing, especially the fact that there is a whole community in there. This is also a perfect example of northern architecture. Quote
MassEditor Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Me oh my, what a treat to behold! You two have certainly outdone yourselves! How jealous I am of two brothers sharing such a passion and talent for the bricks. Of all the fantastic cityscapes we've seen in GoH, this certainly ranks among the top. I love all the terrain features, which is something many builders don't spend enough work on, in my opinion, when building such large city scenes. Some stunning designs and techniques to enjoy too, I especially adore that town hall/jarl's castle. I also see quite a few familiar faces walking the streets of Nordheim. As always, wonderful stuff you two, very inspiring! Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Great collaborative effort, so many neat details and a very impressive final product. The angled houses and wall really make this look natural, and fantastic snowscaping. I think the green dragons detract slightly from what is otherwise pretty realistic, but the giant mountain adds a great bit of height variation. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 Excellent display! I love how full of details you've managed to pack it Between Ecc's build at Brickworld and this one, Mitgardia seems stronger than ever at those conventions! Thanks Gideon What a bustling, icy city. The greathouse is still my fav module, with the dock coming in close second. I wasnt too fond of the mountain, as i felt you two couldve combined ideas for something better, but overall this is incredible! Thanks Blufiji! What sort of thing would you have preferred to see rather than the mountain? The builds on their own were great but seeing them together makes them even more spectacular! Excellent job guys! Thanks Puvel! As Said by puvel, they were great on their own but This is just mindblowing!! Really like the whole layout!! Great work guys!! Thank you, dG, we were quite pleased that the complete layout came together so well. While building each individual module, it's hard to know for sure how it will all work out in the end. This MOC is fantastic, it must weight a ton! Thanks, it is quite hefty This town is very impressive. I cannot spot any part of the build that doesn't have detail. I think the green dragons detract slightly from what is otherwise pretty realistic, but the giant mountain adds a great bit of height variation. Thanks Kai! Being that this was set in Mitgardia, and we've got a whole dwarven mountain, dragons didn't seem to far-fetched. They were probably the most popular single feature in the public's eyes at BFVA Quote
LordDan Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Fantastic work! I'm shocked by how much larger( and heavier) it is than Katoren. When you were showing off the individual modules I just assumed that it was similarly sized, but now seeing it together I can tell just how massive this is. It's a lot of fun to just stare at this and search for new details! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 I love that mountain. Gorgeus MOC Thanks! Fantastic work! I'm shocked by how much larger( and heavier) it is than Katoren. It's a lot of fun to just stare at this and search for new details! Thank you. It only has one more module than Katoren, but rather than 6 32x32 sections, it consists of 5 32x48 + 2 48x48s, and the mountain weighs a lot Quote
Ulrik Hansen Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Amazing. Too much to mention the snow details are stunning. Back to watching the pictures. Quote
Jacob Nion Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 This is amazing. You planned the layout perfectly, everything fits together like it was build all together from the very beginning. One thing that I love the most when looking at such dioramas is the illusion of looking at a whole large town, even if it's only one (impressive) part of it. The observer just adds the rest of the city in his imagination. That's something one cannot reach with building skills only. For this effect you need lots of fantasy and imagination yourself. Perfect work guys. For me this even tops last year's Katoren layout. Quote
Blufiji Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 To answer your previous question, I think a fish market or a town hall etc etc would be a better fit, but that's just me. Quote
WerferOfFlammen Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) Damn, some day I hope to be able/have the resources to build scenes like that. I'd be interested to know how much grey you have and how you sort all of it lol Edited September 14, 2016 by WerferOfFlammen Quote

We're very proud of how well everything ended up meshing together, and I'm glad you like it so much To answer your previous question, I think a fish market or a town hall etc etc would be a better fit, but that's just me. Thanks for your thoughts Blufiji! We wanted something with plenty of height for the back corner, hence the mountain. Originally it was going to have a fortress of sorts built into it, but we ended up being pretty low on bley and space there. Damn, some day I hope to be able/have the resources to build scenes like that. I'd be interested to know how much grey you have and how you sort all of it lol Thanks! Keep acquiring parts and building, and I'm sure you could make some epic stuff. This build used the majority of our bley/dark bley. Here's a pic of our building area: Quote
