Do we know for sure that there will be a follow-up to the Porsche set this year ?

I've been holding off buying it but now i'm wondering if i buy it more as a collectors item if its going to be a product line of "UCS" Technic cars

I was all ready to buy the new 2017 Technic sets, 42066 Air Race Jet, 42064 Ocean Explorer and 42063 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure on January 1st when they were supposed to be available and then I found out that they're not available here yet. I looked at the UK site and it looks like they're available there. :(

Does anyone know what happened to these sets and if they're going to come here? If so, when? I really want those sets!

You probably mean "do we know for sure that we WON'T get a follow-up this year?"

English may be my natural language but I'm rubbish at it that's why I'm an engineer !

OK I'll rephrase ...

From all the usual leaks etc are we getting a follow-up "UCS Technic" model or was the Porsche a one off ?

Would you care to provide a clue as to where "here" is?  :look:

Previous remarks (by TLG) stated that this was the first, indicating that there will be more. But it's my personal opinion that we won't get a new one next year. I think it's much too soon for a new €300 set. My best guess is that it won't be due in two years.

That make sence when we look at recent technic licensed sets:

Unimog in 2011 "followed" by Arocs in 2015, Volvo loader in 2014 "followed" by Volvo excavator in 2016. From this it could be that we will have to wait year or few years for CLAAS harvester and smaller tractor tires...now I'll make angry face

Future "ultimate" sets will likely not be the same brand. The next one may be a mclaren or even a land rover for all we know. Even so I wouldn't expect them every year yet. Are we even sure the next one will be a car?

Agreed! We literally have zero information besides the Porsche being the first....of something.

So what if it was?.....why do members here constantly feel the need to hound and call out others for so called infractions or poor forum etiquette?

Why are forum members not warned about backseat modding?....or why cant forum members allow the MODS to do their job?

It's like the Lego version of the PC Master Race on this forum....lowly peasants and newbies getting called out and abused for the slightest infractions.

There ARE 2H sets but nobody can make pictures on this Toy Fair. So we have just descriptions.

What do these designations like 1H, 2H, etc. stand for?

It was quite a suprise to see the rampant backseat mods on this forum but you get accustomed to it; just makes you post a bit less, I suppose.

To be honest, I was very surprised, after coming out of my Dark Ages, to find out that the Porsche is basically the only licensed technic supercar. Given the main target demographic (teen-adult males), one would think that supercars (or hypercars) would be extremely well received and well sold. Granted, the extra price increase just for the license (compared to a similarly sized non-licensed Technic set) is quite steep, but still. I would buy more supercars in a heartbeat and I think they would make excellent line toppers on a yearly basis. We know there is more than enough of them for Lego to be able to do one a year. And given the large degree of variety in both concept and production cars, I can't see them running out of ideas quickly. But it may just be wishful thinking.

All things considered, whatever the next in the Porsche line is, I'm probably buying it.

The first and second half of the year that the sets get released. We usually get some on January 1st and a few more on August 1st. This year, for the US, 4 1H sets were released on November 16th, and for UK/EU all the 1H sets were released December 1st. 6 of the 1H sets still haven't been released in the US.

I asked an employee at local Lego store (US) a few weeks ago when the 42064 Ocean Explorer was to be released and he thought Jan 1 and was going to double check but the store was very busy so I told him not to worry and deal with the customers in line with crossed arms, stern faces and tapping feet.

So I would also like to know when to expect these sets. The ocean explorers absence from the January 2017 USA catalog makes me think north america may not get this set.

I haven't heard of mass-produced sets not being released in certain countries in the past couple years...

Oh come on, I've got a Jan. 2017 catalog right here with me, and only the four smallest 2017 sets are in it. But, I'm not worried. The catalogs didn't show the 2H 2016 sets until after they came out, and I think that's what's happening. Having sets not come out in the US is incredibly rare, because we are a huge market.

Canadians didn't get the 8258 Crane Truck back in 2009-2010, had to order mine from Europe!

You've just uttered a summon incantation.

I have split the Boost discussion into a separate topic. I know it's Technically a 2017 set, but I think it's better to discuss it separately.

I looked on Amazon.com US site and upon entering 42061 Telehandler, there was 1 seller, albeit asking too much for the set, indicating that the set would be released here on Jan. 5(tomorrow), and there was a Pre-Order option available to click on.  I somehow have my doubts though.  I was told Dec. 26 by a Lego store, then Jan. 1, then don't know, haven't heard about the new sets at all.  I may call that store tomorrow and check just to see and maybe go to a local TRU store as well, I called a couple weeks ago there and they said street date was Jan. 1 as well, but went there on the 1st and nothing.

Hoping for tomorrow, but I've heard so many different opinions now, I've kind of given up.  Generally, one would think if a large release of 6 sets was due that the Lego USA site would have it up as Coming Soon On...but they still ahve to clean up their site of all the retired items too.

One thing I considered is a majority of the sets on the US S@H are on backorder that when they get their next warehouse shipment of those backordered items that the final 6 1H sets would come with that shipment.  Just guessing...

Still no new about 2h sets :cry_sad:

The only thing I'm exited for is the supercar and I'm also expecting something with pneumatics.

Lego might surprise us with something bigger than the BWE
