Thank you very much for the list, amazingbricks! :classic:

^ Imagine they'll have a few retail exclusives in addition to that list, another expensive year!

I completely agree with you, Soupperson1!

Regrettably we haven't got any clue yet which sets / subthemes and Exclusives we can await. A flower shop or a market garden are since long overdue, same like an opera / theatre, a real ice-cream parlor and some more shops. I'm excited if one of these will made it.

If I remember correctly, there was a new, smaller slide piece and even a new, small stairs piece - both with an about 90 degree angle.

Sounds pretty cool!

I'm curious what will be in the summer.

I'm too. But I bet that there'll be a huge building like we did have now nearly every year. A disco, museum or theatre would be really cool. Plus I'm excited about whether TLG will release some huge Friends Exclusive because of the fifth birthday of the Friends theme - e. g. something like a city center of HLC.

Any thoughts on when the final images of these will come out?

The pics of the winter wave will be for sure at the latest be published in December (before the release of the sets). But I could even very well imagine that we'll already see them in mid November.

I'd love to see one, but I'm really doubtful. Friends isn't as popular as Ninjago (which is the only non licensed theme of recent years to get one right?) among the AFOL community. Sure the set will have lovely pieces but is that really enough? Hopefully your right though! :D

Kingdoms, Monster Fighters, The LEGO Movie, and Technic have all had D2C sets in just the past five years. It's debatable whether The LEGO Movie counts as non-licensed, but the other three certainly do.

Ninjago may have a stronger following among AFOLs and TFOLs than Friends, but that's in part because it's been around a year longer and was aimed at older kids to begin with. So in a few years Friends might get its shot at a D2C set.

Dang I completely forgot about those DTCs.

Ninjago got its DTC after four years and this was Friends' fourth year. I wonder are kids growing up with the theme? A lot of the sets are aimed at younger children and then older ones would move onto Elves, DC girls or other themes.

I think of Friends as being more or less equivalent to City - and City hasn't gotten any D2Cs either, just occasional big sets like the City Square.

Friends is an incredibly popular theme. The $120 hotel set was one of the most profitable sets of 2015.

NinjaGo is one of the biggest selling themes, yet the D2C set has been a failure, at least in the USA. They have given away free sets, and double points just to move it. Which is a shame being it's a nice set.

I would have thought the Modulars were in a manner of speaking, City's D2C sets...?

I can't imagine a Friends DTC would be much more than the hotel, which you bring up was incredibly successful.

The Temple of Airjitzu is a beautiful set, but I imagine it didn't sell due to the theme being more popular amongst kids than adults.

You would be amazed by the number of adults who spend hundreds of dollars on a set for a family member. If I had the money I'd buy it, it's amazing looking!

But why make a D2C set when you can just make $120-$150 set with half the pieces?

There's been cheaper D2Cs in the past modulars are around $120-150 usually right? Arkham was around that price too. Maybe they're saving the cheaper D2C for Friends? We can dream! :P

The modulars are 150-170 USD. New Arkham is around that price too ($150) and isn't D2C, but an exclusive in the USA to Toys R Us. So really what's the difference between a $120 Hotel set and a D2C set?
