Hmm...

This wave seems to have only a few good sets in my opinion. Perhaps it was simply my unrealistic dreams of The Secret Waterfall Escape, but the only sets I consider purchasing at the moment are The Witch Hut, The Mushroom Island, and perhaps the Nether Train, since you receive a Zombie Pigman and Magma Cubes.

I really like what I'm seeing here  Some highlights:

- baby cow and baby mooshroom

- a compass(?)

- leather armor

- finally magma and regular slimes (too bad there's no big version of the regular slime)

- enchanting table with open book

- a brewing stand and lots of cleverly designed bottles

- lily pads

- the witch

- a fishing rod and sheers

- a blue sheep and a black cat

All in all, quite a lot of new mobs and tons of new accessories and items. One thing though (and I can't believe I still have to say this): Y u give us no chickens???? :cry_sad: Seriously though, it's time. We already got some relatively recent additions to the game (banners and horses for instance) and still haven't seen any chickens who have been in the game for ages :hmpf_bad:

Hey everyone! As a longtime lurker here, I finally had to create an account and post because I've been eagerly anticipating photos of these sets and can't find them anywhere. Also, I was really bummed to see that CM4Sci is banned. Was it his superb ability at leaking things that got him the boot? Anyway, please and thank you to anyone who can help, granted no rules are being broken in the process. I look forward to joining in this discussion once I see the sets.

Me too, I can't seem to find anything online if anyone knows where I'd be curious. Within the rules of course! This sounds like a good wave.

Found em! It was a funny, speak of the devil kind of situation. And while it's great to finally see them, I can't help but agree with latenightguy -- only a few sets are really worth purchasing.

Mushroom Island - Simple and effective + cheap way to get mooshroom + baby mooshroom = sold! Though I'm curious why the new style boat in this set doesn't come with oars when the boat in the witch hut does. Also, we have boats in all wood colors in game, why not do the same in lego form?

Jungle Temple - Looks nice, captures the look of the in-game temple, a possible buy pending the look of the interior. Ocelot is nice touch, but two skeletons? I'd trade three skellies for one chicken at this point.

Nether Railway - Very meh, but the magma cubes are awesome and I always welcome more zombie pigmen, plus that new mine cart is rather adorable. I just really hope the large magma cube isn't permanently stuck in the springing position.

Ice Spikes - I had a lot of hope, but this set feels thoroughly uninspired. All studs on top construction of those chubby, short ice spikes with very limited use of transparent bricks? I'd say easy pass, but the enchanting table is exclusive to this set and a draw I can't ignore. On enough clearance, I'll probably cave.

Witch Hut - Lily pads, brewing stand with potions, new style boat with oars, small slimes, a witch and possibly a cauldron in that hut.. what more could you ask for?

Secret Waterfall Escape - underwhelming, blocky (even by Minecraft standards) and boring.. unless the interior is just phenomenal, but I'm not holding my breath. However. the blue-dyed sheep and sheers, as well as the tamed cat, are all really nice additions.

Side notes/ personal gripes:

- No horses or villagers. I understand both are exclusive to recently released, rather expensive sets, but come on! With a variety of types/ colors among horses and villagers, why not keep those particular variants exclusive to those sets (the village and the fortress) and reuse the molds in new colors for new sets to give fans a cheaper alternative to $200 or $110 US to get a villager or a horse, respectively?

- Still no chickens!

My guesses for this wave were:

I don't know if another wave is confirmed yet, but I will go ahead and make a few guesses (/wishful thinking projections) about possible upcoming sets, for fun :classic: :

  • Ocean Monument Raid: large structure with lots of sand green/sand blue elements, two Guardians and Steve in diamond armour. €99,99 (Fail!)
  • Wizard Tower Attack: dark brown and dark ora (?) tower, pointy dark red roof. Includes Alex, a Spider Jockey, enchanting table, potions, and decorated banners. €69,99 (Items correct)
  • The Swamp Hut: resembles the structure found in the game, includes Witch, Slime, Chicken and Steve with leather helmet. €34,99 (Pretty close)
  • Mushroom Island: giant mushroom, some mycelium terrain, includes Mooshroom cow and Steve with map and compass. €19,99 (Spot-on!)

Glad to see a bucketload of new items/mobs in LEGO form in this wave! Some quick thoughts:

  • Mushroom Island: Looks good for display, nice large mushrooms! Return of the Mooshroom Cow, with baby. I expect the compass to have a new print.
  • Nether Railway: Fits in with the other Nether sets, a bit dull but decent parts. Magma Cubes!
  • Ice Spikes: Uninspiring, shapings are off and should have had more transparent blocks. But, lavender pickaxe (enchanted iron) is pretty cool! Enchanting table, another banner and Snow Golem don't hurt either!
  • Jungle Temple: Surprisingly complete, looks neat! Leather armour!
  • Witch House: EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!  The entire* Swamp Biome, squeezed in one set, amazing!  Three(!) Slimes, a superb Witch, accurate hut, potions, lily pads; this set has it all!
  • Secret Waterfall Escape: Uh... what? Anyway, a modern house for a change, alright. Not my style in-game, nor in-LEGO. I hope the value for money is mostly in the interior...

So, still no Chickens, but as long as we will be seeing those eventually, I can forgive them this time, with all the new stuff this wave.

*only missing pumkins, melons, Large Slime, clay.

One important question- is that new piece between "rails" ?

*huh* Great Scott! Asking the real questions here! I just assumed it was the tiling underneath, but upon closer inspection, those have to be new parts for a monorail system. This set just got a whole lot more interesting!

I didn't even realize that pickaxe was lavender to indicate it's enchanted, but that's a really awesome inclusion. It's hard to tell if the coloring is solid, but it would be nice if the lavender is pearlescent. Same goes for the leather armor, I guess I thought it was just gold at first glance.

Also wanted to note those lily pads have a rather clever construction. They appear to be two Mixels teeth alongside two melon slices all in solid green to make the perfect representation. I've also been trying to figure out what that transparent green thing on the witch's hut's ledge is, as it's a different shape from the potions on the brewing stand, and my best guess is it's a splash potion of poison, like the ones those nasty witches use in game to drain your health.

Now, I wonder what the two summer sets will bring to the table.. There's such an expansive array of items and blocks in the Minecraft universe, what do you guys think is coming next/ absolutely has to come out before the license ends? And how much longer do you think the theme is going to last? I hope a couple more years at least.

This summer I'm hoping one of the two sets is a desert temple with a chicken or two included.

@Lego_talk: Thanks for the link!

So the shovels in the Witch Hut set are used as paddles? Neat idea, looks close enough :sweet:

The catalogue picture seems to indicate just that as the Witch is shown hurling said object towards Alex

I agree, this needs to happen  One or two are not enough though given how many cows, pigs and sheep we've gotten up to this point  Now that they've covered almost everything that was available in-game up to version 1.7, it's probably time to add stuff from versions 1.8 (ocean monument, Guardians), 1.9 (End city, Shulker, Elytra, shields), 1.10 (polar bears, Husks, Strays) and 1.11 (Woodland mansion, Evokers, Vindicators, Vexes and Llamas) :classic: Stuff from 1.8 at least wouldn't be a stretch since they've already included an element from that particular update in a set (the banners in the Fortress set). Technically, none of the updates should be much of a stretch since TLG is used to releasing sets for upcoming properties... That said, an End City set for instance would be AMAZING, especially colour-wise. Some people would probably buy 20 of that set if it ever gets made just for the lavender parts

These sets are very disappointing imo. Particularly the Nether Train one, it's sooooo small! :S I was hoping for a big set full of lots of mine tracks, since so far there has only been one other set with minetracks, and building minetracks is a very big part of the game :S .... still no chickens either .... my imagination made the secret waterfall set so much better too, ah well.

With the three Nether-based sets against one End-based set (not counting the End portal), I'd say an End City is to be expected, and it would make for a great large set! A challenging structure, lots of tan and lavender pieces, Banners, End rods (GitD bars), Elytra, Chorus Fruit, Shulkers, Ender Chest... so many things that could make it a superb set! :classic:

One other thing I expect is a Mesa Biome set with a player-made structure.

I think the Nether Railway is decently sized for its price point. Besides, tracks are repetitive, so for every bit of track that gets added, some side build type of thing has to get added to keep the set diverse. If you want more track, just build it with your own pieces, bricklink them, or buy multiples of this set.

I do agree though: the Secret Waterfall Escape was underwhelming for me as well. Still I think this is a pretty good wave.

I know it's a fine size for the price point, it's just a few months ago when the only information we had was the sets name, I pictured a huge railway track like the Mine set. Adding more tracks could remove the details/side builds, but if you look at it in terms of play features, the draw of this set surely is to push a minifigure in a cart around a track?, the track is way too small for that to be fun imo....
