I know it's a fine size for the price point, it's just a few months ago when the only information we had was the sets name, I pictured a huge railway track like the Mine set. Adding more tracks could remove the details/side builds, but if you look at it in terms of play features, the draw of this set surely is to push a minifigure in a cart around a track?, the track is way too small for that to be fun imo....

This is what the intial info looked like:

21129 Mushroom Island
21130 Nether Train
21131 Ice Towers
21132 Jungle Temple
21133 Witch House
21134 Secret Waterfall Escape

The numerical order is always in line with the order of price point: lower numbers have lower prices, higher numbers have higher prices (exceptions to the rule are retail exclusives and polybags). Any full wave of sets has a couple of sets with a low price point. So, taken these two conditions into consideration: there was no reason to think the Nether Train could be a large set, you see?

Also, my point is that the designers simply cannot ditch the side builds for more track. As far as play value goes: pushing a cart over a small track or pushing a cart over a large (uniform) track doesn't make a difference.

Oh this just reminded me to post the video, you can see all the new sets at 1:40. It has EU prices.

Thanks a ton!

Some things I noticed:

  • The Magma Cube does have a non-spring form!
  • The minecart track does indeed have new pieces (the brown ones) to bridge the gap between the tiles. Really interesting!
  • The Slimes are translucent, which is a first for the mob head mould!

I think these sets are a good start to build our own world and our own story. We can combine everything. New stuff is much appreciated but chickens!!! Rabbits!!! Squids!!!! Guardians!!!! I prefer many little varied sets than a big and uniform one.

Minecraft way :classic:

( and maybe supermariomaker way)

Good eyes! I'm personally relieved to see the magma cube has a non-spring form, but I wonder how it's constructed. As a set where a kid has to entertain themself riding a minecart in circles, I'm guessing that spring function has gotta be one of the play features.

Also, why both sizes of magma cube, but only tiny slimes? Love the translucency though. My hunch is a large slime will be featured in a future set centered around the slime block (a real game-changing block, honestly, be it for its ability to grip blocks in redstone contraptions or bounce the player/break their fall) where part of the play is slaying a slime to get round 1x1 slime green tiles.

These sets look really awesome! My wallet this year...... My goodness :cry_sad: I really love the little Slime jumping features! I have a question though, what kind of pickaxe does Steve have in the Ice set? Did I miss an update in Minecraft or something??

I believe it's supposed to be just an enchanted pickaxe.

Thanks! Quite expensive, as always with the MC sets, it seems. I'd probably consider buying the Witch house at a 15€ discount.

I don't know why I do this because it always makes me depressed about Canadian prices but I went on toysrus.com and I noticed that they actually have banners on the sides of the site that have the new sets in them. So I guess that means that the sets will be out soon right? I haven't been seeing any reviews or anything popping up online though so I'm not sure. I don't believe we've had an official confirmation on release dates right?

Well, is the (regular) LEGO catalog official enough, to your taste?  The Dutch one states it's releasing in March, so I suppose that will be the same for the rest of Europe and possibly other countries too.

My bad I actually didn't pay attention to the catalogue  Actually in the video I posted above from the catalogue it says Mai which is May. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

On a side note I was walking trough my local mall and for some reason I decided to look inside the toy store and on the top shelf they actually had the Mine set which is one of the only sets to actually be retired. I almost picked it up but it was full price.....

The LEGO Minecraft page on Facebook though has confirmed March release for them.

Ah, nice. The earlier they release, the earlier the discounts are coming our way!

That witch is a must-own for Lego/ Minecraft fans! Fingers still crossed we get another variant of villager in the yet-to-be-revealed summer sets.. We need inexpensive access to villagers pronto.

I would like to keep this sub-forum alive by saying that Smyth's in the UK has alternatives images and UK prices for all the march sets and are as follows: 21129 £19.99 21130 £39.99 21131: £44.99 21132: £54.99 21133: £64.99 21134: £74.99    On another note though, I can't believe the jungle temple has a working combination lock!
