Aliencat Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) The Neutronium Alchemist by Peter F. Hamilton, the second part of a 3750 pages trilogy that started with The Reality Dysfunction. This really is the most awesome Sci-Fi Epic I've ever read, even though these three books (called the Night's Dawn Trilogy, by the way) are the thickest I have, I recommend them to everyone, they're really worth your time! The way Hamilton thought out every detail of his intricate future fantasy universe is amazing and all three of these books are absolutely action packed. Edited September 15, 2008 by Aliencat Quote
Tyranide Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Eric Nylund "Ghosts of Onyx" and Neil Gaiman's "American Gods". It took me so much time to get all Halo books from UK (no Halo in Russia, shame) that I'm reading and re-reading them all the time. Quote
Shoc Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I'm reading To Kill A Mockingbird, for English study. I'm only on Chapter 8 at the moment but it's a really great and interesting book! All of the characters are intruiging, especially the hidden Boo Radley... :skull: Quote
Stefan Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. My favourite Sci-Fi author out there. Quote

Andrex Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by GW Dahlquist. An eccentric, elaborate and wonderfully crafted steampunk novel full of mystery, suspense, drama and fantasy. Oh and it's quite erotic, but that is not its primary purpose! I'm loving it! -- Andrex Quote

The way Hamilton thought out every detail of his intricate future fantasy universe is amazing and all three of these books are absolutely action packed. I'm a great fan of Hamilton. In the last few months I've reread all three books in the Trilogy and have also read 'Pandora's Star' and 'Judas Unchained' by the same author, in what's called the commonwealth saga. He's following those up with a new trilogy. The first part of that is called 'The Dreaming Void'. That appeared last year and I've already read it twice. The second part will be available in early October and I've got it pre-ordered via amazon. His books are massive, but they are also hugely entertaining. If you like Hamilton, I can also recommend Charles Stross. He does space opera too. The two books of his that I've read (he has written more) are 'Singularity Sky' and 'Iron Sunrise'. They are great. I'm currently reading 'The call of the weird' by Louis Theroux. It's very funny. Cheers, Ralph Quote

wulf Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Now working on 'Richelieu's Army War, Government and Society in France, 1624–1642' - term must be about to start if I'm not reading fiction. That sounds like an interesting read. I'm reading To Kill A Mockingbird, for English study. I'm only on Chapter 8 at the moment but it's a really great and interesting book! All of the characters are intruiging, especially the hidden Boo Radley... :skull: Your lucky, they gave you a good book to read. Well at the moment I'm reading 'Run for the sun' by Barry sadler , 'Red storm rising' by tom clancy and I'm going to order those DooM books from amazon. Quote
Shoc Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Your lucky, they gave you a good book to read. Yeah, I've studied lots of books in my education, only abour a couple have been really boring, but To Kill A Mockingbird is definitely my favourite to read and study. We still have a lot more to go on it, only on Chapter 9, and I have to write all about Boo Radley and Atticus Finch at some point... Again. Also I am reading Dragon Ball Z, one of my favourite book series' (even though it's a comic). I'm reading from the English translated books, on the 11th now I think. It's very exciting - Goku has just become a Super Saiyan and everyone is confused. As well as Dragon Ball Z, I am reading the original Dragon Ball books again, because I last read them years ago, heheh. :skull: Quote
yellost Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Just finished Salem's Lot... Pretty disappointed, again... I don't know why but every time I read a book by Stephen King I end up disappointed... Except maybe for his Dark Tower serie... I think I'll go on with that one and leave the rest... I just need to find the next ones somewhere... In the mean time, I'm re reading Dracula, by Bram Stoker... A true classic, that one. Quote
