firefly101 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Hello, I ordered the Green Fantasy Dragon that has the Armor. Reason is I like Green dragons over red, mainly because that is what I think of when I think of what a Dragon would look like. But it has Armor on it. Now I noticed that the Armor on the head looks somewhat removable? It looks like the head is 3 Pieces minus the Jaw. The ball Joint the Back and front part of the head. I wonder what the from looks like without the armor on it? If bad my only option is to erase the Silver off of the armor and imagine they are hardened scales. lol Erasing seems to be easy using a polishing eraser from swords and knives. It does put a dull none shine on the plastic but does good atleast on the torsos I have done. Second question is the WINGS. Is the Gold actual plastic or is it painted on? That would help to find out if it can be removed or not. Last anyone know a good polishing method for Plastic after the Silk Screening is erased? I included a picture I got off the internet to show what I noticed. I original thought it was one piece but its obviously 2 pieces most likely die to the printing process of the eyes and the armor. firefly101 Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) I modified through photoshop this picture to see what the head would look like if the Silver was removed, it doesn't look bad and probably would look better in person. One good thing is the armor can look like scale plates? Edited February 5, 2018 by firefly101 Quote
Wardancer Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I think it would save a lot of work to paint over the silver instead of removing it. If you can find a matching paint. It would improve the outcome if you fill up the little holes on the armor. It might even make sense to buy a non-armored dragon head and paint that one. Or spraypaint. The wings I believe are not printed, but molded from two colors of plastic. Quote
firefly101 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Problem with Paint is the smell and Flaking off. The only paint I found to work on anything is Duracoat and Automotive paint both expensive and would be hard to match the color. The eraser works pretty easy, you just keep rubbing and it removes it pretty quick, but it will take a while since its a big dragon. lol If the Head comes apart and is not glued It would make Removing the Silver easier even. I did think of your suggestion, but it has its own problems, I even thought of another head.... Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) What I do to remove print is get some really fine fine grit sand paper that is normally sold in model selections of hobby stores (The kind ive seen is a purplish color) and wet sand the print away. Detroitika Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Not sure what you want to do about the head. If you want to erase, go for it -- just don't expect it to all come off in one or two sittings. You'll probably never be able to apply enough eraser pressure to every odd nook and cranny on the head, meaning that there will be bits of silver that can't be easily removed. The wings are definitely two colors of plastic, so there is no removing the gold from the green, and their rubbery additives make them unsuitable candidates for holding any paint. If I were you, I would try some different solution for the wings, and check out Model Master's line of acryl paints to cover the silver. I've never seen a paint to match their durability with ABS, even auto stuff. This video I made shows off some quality :) Quote
Wardancer Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I am very interested in seeing the outcome here. Please post pictures. Quote
