Captain Green Hair Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 To get back on the chat feature..... I'm talking to several members over MSN, so you can simply add members in there and chat... Good way to discuss the forum and personal stuff i think.. Quote
TheFrisian Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 To get back on the chat feature.....I'm talking to several members over MSN, so you can simply add members in there and chat... Good way to discuss the forum and personal stuff i think.. Provided that you already have at least one other member in your contact list, which probably doesn't apply to a lot of members here (myself included). A chatroom is open for all members, so everybody can join in and get to know other members they otherwise wouldn't have had much contact with. There is a lot to say in favor of an EB chat, but I also understand the practical limitations. Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Legoman, it think you are a Wiseman! *y* There's this 7 lettered magical word called "respect". If we just all pay respect to each other things would already get better *sweet* In the past year I've been here I've seen most people do pay respect to each other, but also enough cases where people don't.. Ofcourse, those people don't really deserve your respect, but if you still treat them with respect, they'll easier come around :-) And most spamming members.. I think the most don't even know they're spamming, they are just excited about this great place and would like to become a part of it. So, everyone pay respect to each other *sweet* Quote

But if people would fill out their profile to more detail - like the field for the MSN address - then getting in contact with them or chatting with them would be easier... Quote
Vader Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I can't think of any good a chat would bring. Oh i agree and we did try a chat room some years ago, it just didn't work. If you want to talk to someone on msn and they don't have their details listed then why not send them a PM requesting it, that would be alot better for EB than usless chit chat on the boards. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 For those who are interested in joining my unofficial IRC chatroom, send me a PM! ;-) Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Thanks for the Irc chat, just from that short time alone I learned quite abit :-$ With afew more people I could see it being even better *wub* (Obviously..) Quote
Looking for a display name Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 take sever leafs from there book http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/index.php the way i was spoken to by a mod was appalling if they where on this forum they would be banned for a week or 2 and there mod powers revoked completely for flaming a member. i originate from this forum and ive been so happy there but was appalled by how a moderator spoke to me wouldn't be tolerated where im from also if this mod in question where to join my forum and speak to some one like that he or she would be taken down so many notches he or she wouldn't believe it they would make he or she feel incredibly small things to consider ratings to give people eg: funny agree disagree friendly un-friendly dumb gold stars winners artistic helpful un-helpful informative good idea thanks and awful spelling also insta ban key words like racial slur or silly things like text speak lol wut ect The facepunch rules Edit by Hobbes: Ever heard of linking? |-/ Quote

UniqueBuilder Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 *snip* EB isn't meant to be a place with strict/firm rules. The Admins expect us to use Common Sense instead of being told what to do like a bunch of sheep in a pen. I prefer it that way. ;-) Quote

Hmm... :-/ I think more competitions and smackdowns are necessary for a better community - friendly competitiveness encourage friendships, IMHO - it gives you a starting ground for conversations and such - grudges e.t.c. are good! *y* Make it more fun! *y* And hilarious! *y* SlyOwl Quote

We got a little out of control for a while and there were too many and some of them were disorganized. So we're currently re-vamping the contest system while we have some great contests running out there right now in the Town and Pirates forums. X-D Quote
snefroe Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) EB's chat room... g... that brings back memories... :-$ most of all, of annoying kids ruining conversations between yoda and me, the last one that got out, got stuck with entertaining those darn kids. Think VCVC screwed it up in the end... but it was fun for a while... when msn was still far away ... nope, don't see a reason to start it up again... however , if there's one thing that could be improved on these boards nowadays, it's the language some of the members. Maybe they haven't crossed the line just yet, but they are flirting with it. and some respect for others may be nice as well... yes, i certainly see some room for improvement there! Dadster Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Been here a short time and have wondered about a few things... 1. One needs to have a certain # of posts to "move up the ladder"? Why? Just because I don't post, doesn't mean I don't care about the site. And who says I don't know Lego, if I don't have a certain # of posts?! Sometimes I don't feel the need to convey my opinion - more often than not, others have already brought up great points or interesting ideas that I share. 2. Have Admins ever thought about receiving donations? I'd rather donate (via Paypal is easiest) to be able to post a larger (or even animated!) avatar, have access to more PMs etc. 3. Not singling anyone out, but editing Caps from titles? Seriously? :-| 4. The ability to add in signature pics is AWESOME! Kudos for that!! Can't think of anything else at the moment...still perusing topics and navigating the site. Thanks! Quote
Hinckley Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 3. Not singling anyone out, but editing Caps from titles? Seriously? :-| It's okay. I'll single myself out. Yes, seriously. :-| yourself. I edit capitals out of topic titles. It's annoying and it's poor internet etiquette, it's the equivalent of shouting. I'll continue to do it as well... Welcome to EB. Quote
Hobbes Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 1. One needs to have a certain # of posts to "move up the ladder"? Why? Those ranks are just a perk for members. Yes, you "move up" after reaching certain post numbers, but it's not a measurement of your contribution quality and we certainly don't see it that way. Just because I don't post, doesn't mean I don't care about the site. And who says I don't know Lego, if I don't have a certain # of posts?! Says who? Where does it say that? Your implications are just that, implications. Sometimes I don't feel the need to convey my opinion - more often than not, others have already brought up great points or interesting ideas that I share. Many members do it the same way. They just have been here longer and thus their post count may be higher. Even if you don't participate in every discussion your posts do add up in time... Quote
