Posted August 31, 20168 yr Hi For some time, I've been working on series of MOCs based on places in the Isle of Man. Today I finally got around to recreating the Island itself in the form of a mosaic map - eventually I hope to display all the "Manx MOCs" together with the map as the centrepiece. Creating the map was a bit of a challenge and it took a few attempts but I'm pretty pleased with how it came out (It's pretty simple but like a lot of mosaics it looks most accurate when viewed from a few feet away); now I'm thinking of recreating the topography (hills etc)!! August 31, 20168 yr Thats a very cool idea. What about you scale it up a bit and add not only topography (which wou!d enhance it already quite significantly), but also add landmarks like towns and castles? Doesn't has to be gigantic. A tiny castle could be as small as 3x3 studs, for example and doesn't has to ge to scale, but would add a lot to it Also a compass-rose with the coat of arms of your island would look pretty cool too!

August 31, 20168 yr Now that is some cool stuff! The miniatures look awesome! The island itself might be a bit small still for the centerpiece of your display though.
September 1, 20168 yr Great idea and great built! Somehow I think you should make the island more lively, maybe as you mentioned with topography but you could also add microscale buildings or figures plus some water animals and a boat in the water. Edited September 1, 20168 yr by Askan
