January 14, 200817 yr Definitely overpriced at $40 in Australia for what is basically a cut-down Droid battlepack with a Spider-Droid and the Hailfire Droid as an extra. I picked one up a few days ago and it does look great though. The Spider droid is cute and the trans wheels of the Hailfire Droid work fantastically. Looks very good and will no doubt look fantastic with the new AT-TE coming out later this year. SW gets more expensive! I will wait for a 20% off sale before picking another one of these up.
January 15, 200817 yr Can the wheels of the halfire move and drive? The wheels can move but the tracks are a bit.... well.... unstable..... And they can't turn, unfortunately. BTW, great review, thanks! ) Yours faithfully,
January 15, 200817 yr I'll pick this one up for sure. mmm.... brown small threads... great as muddy threads for WWII MOCs *wub* TT
January 17, 200817 yr What an excellent set! I picked one up on Monday, and loved it so much I went and got another today (Thursday). I've always wanted minifig compatible versions of the two big droids and I've tried building my own but could never get the design right. For information: the wheels on the Haifire Droid are fixed in place, but the track links fit loosely around the transparent radar dishes so they sort of slide, but not very well. I've removed one link from each wheel so that the links fit real tight, and modified the model so that the wheels spin, and it now rolls along, sweet as a nut! X-D Plus points: A whole bunch of droids to build your army, excellent designs of the two large droids, flick-fire missiles that actually work well (unlike the irritating ones on the ISD and Hoth Rebel Base) and NO STICKERS, yay! Minus points: The horrific price. Edited January 17, 200817 yr by PaulC
January 18, 200817 yr Thank you for the review! This set doesn't look as bad as my first assumption. this might become part of my must-buy list... ;-)
January 20, 200817 yr Nice review, It was nice to see a good detailed review especially one with clear pictures of the actual Halifire droid. Edited January 20, 200817 yr by Guest
March 16, 200816 yr thank you yoda!! ;-) i really like this set, and i think it is under apreciated; ive heard from mant people that they dont want this set. |-/ yeah, the little hooks were a pain, but no DSS (yes!) X-D notice the grey pices that connect the spider droids legs: are those new guns?? i used them for my matrix lego movie... keep up the great reviews! *yoda*
April 5, 200816 yr Nice review, its a shame the entire commander body is coloured, not like the original. :-(
April 6, 200816 yr since this topic has been revived, how well fo the treads on the hailfire droid roll, if at all?
April 6, 200816 yr since this topic has been revived, how well fo the treads on the hailfire droid roll, if at all? Well, but not brilliantly. Better on carpet than table.
April 14, 200816 yr Well, this set arrived today after I won it in the Steampunk contest. My first thought was that I most certainly wouldn't pay £19.99 for it; not only is it SW , but it's very small and there are no enemies to fight; if a jedi was included, it would be so much better! But then again, it does contain those awesome treads! It also has a lot of brown parts, which are great for those of us who rarely delve into such themes. I would have preferred it if the spider droids had one less joint in their legs; it makes them a bit difficult to stand up if they keep getting in fights. since this topic has been revived, how well fo the treads on the hailfire droid roll, if at all? They do roll, but if you use 40 links, they will fall off half the time. The easiest way to remedy this is to use 39 on each wheel. This way the treads are tighter, so fall off less. And it also increases their rollability on smooth surfaces. Yay for all the pirate smileys in this thread! Now, if you'll excuse my lack of SW nerdiness (this is my first proper SW set; I only have two mini TFs that I got free at Legoland), I'll be off
April 15, 200816 yr Wow, I sure am late to this discussion! Thanks for the great review, , that is one sweet Hailfire Droid, quite underscaled, but still sweet. That Spider Droid is also neat, I love the leg construction. It's a bit too overpriced for me, but still, thanks again for the review! ~Peace
April 15, 200816 yr Nice review, its a shame the entire commander body is coloured, not like the original. :-( I got the original one and it's better than this one, thanks for the reveiw yode
