Chade Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Hi there guys, I've just been alerted to a Germany Ebay user selling other people's MOC's at quite a high price. This includes quite a few of Madoca's models, Agrof's Class Buggy, my Mini Truck, and I think metulskie8 Classic Car Name: Legotechnicwelt4 http://www.ebay.de/s...=p2047675.l2562 I'm not good on ebay, can someone tell me how to report and remove this page? Thanks!
J_C Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 There is report button if you open his account (click on his feedback number behing his name) - on ebay.de it will be probably not "report" but "melden". That is to report the user. Then there would be options why you are reporting - piracy, counterfeit etc is the one you should find and explain in report and send. Also you can report the item itself (right up corner under pictures, headlines etc - where actual listing descripiton starts) there is "report" or "melden" on ebay.de.
brunojj1 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) This makes me feel angry and sad too, thanks anyway for your notice. His ebay account is new, but I remember having seen his “portfolio” somewhere else (or is it a new “smart” one?). Such guys are criminal scum without any moral or talent, needless to say that such a person is one of the worst enemies of this community! I´ve made the shocking discovery, that his location is Herford – it´s near my home town ! And I´m really tempted to make a test buy to find out his address and come over there to beat him up!! Not sure how to deal with it if my personal copyrights are not affected, but according to German strict copyright laws it´s possible to persecute him on legal basis. Feels bad that nobody will do it because it´s not worth the court costs… EDIT: I´ve reported all of Madoca´s creations saying "copiright issue" and telling them who the author is. Dafgek81 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Are we getting another topic about this? It has been discussed so many times before, the answer remains the same. Is it wrong? Yes Should someone make abuse of someone else his or hers kindness? No But there is a risk in putting up instructions for free or for sell. So this will stay a problem untill people become honest.
agrof Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) I put "watermark" in my instructions, that it may not spreaded for money. Maybe we should add it on all pages/photos from now on. Of course this didn't stop this user... I reported all articles, and asked about them. Hopefully it will be showed up below the description soon, so no more ebayer will be trapped. Bartybum Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) find out his address and come over there to beat him up!! LOOK BUDDY, NO. Violence most definitely NOT a reasonable solution. Edited September 11, 2016 by Bartybum
brunojj1 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Don't worry, I said "I'm tempted" and will resist the temtation...
Chade Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 Thanks for your responses everyone, it looks like it's been taken down. Brunojj1, I love your passion but yeah, violence might be a wee bit too far...
brunojj1 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Fantastic! Have a nice and peaceful sunny Sunday :-)!
Littleworlds Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I put "watermark" in my instructions, that it may not spreaded for money. Maybe we should add it on all pages/photos from now on. An excellent idea. It takes little time, but gets the message across to everyone who happened to buy one to take steps. Definitely worth to spread the word!
agrof Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Thanks Chade for warning, I think we should track such issues here. I will keep on scanning Ebay time to time, and report these. Funny, it was just happening as I found another (??) user with Madoca's and Nico71's instructions - again from Herford, Germany. I sent a message to him and asked him not to do this in the future (auf deutsch), and in the next minute the questionable items disappeared. We will see. Please note, that there are examples where somebody has created CAD pdf building instructions based on photo instructions. There is also credit to designer and so on. In such cases I don't see any problem, if somebody took the effort and there is added value behind. Edited September 11, 2016 by agrof
brunojj1 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I´m not affected myself, yet breaking lances for others. Does anybody care who is affected?? If not, I´m out of this discussion, sorry. @agrof: I totally agree that we should be aware and at least try to chase them down. Of course it´s not possible on the long run, but should we surrender before this stupid parasites? It´s not funny at all, same case with YT video thiefs recently exposed by Sariel. There is a big problem though with making profit with others´ work, regardless how much more valuable CAD instructions are compared to foto sequence or LDD. Is there an agreement with the designer? In the above bespoken case obviously not. You mentioned examples of CAD instructions - would you please be more precise? Do you know the instructions maker?
agrof Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) I have explained to this user(s), that a whole community has an eye on ebay, and we will report such items without giving further warning in the future. ( I hope, I am not the only one there.) I also kindly asked to respect the intellectual properties in general. CAD instructions, f.e.: there is only photo sequence instructions available. Somebody doesn't like it much for some reasons (understandable), and prefer to have proper LEGO like CAD based pdf instructions. He/she builds a CAD model and creates step-by-step instructions. There is effort and added value then. Of course in such cases it is still nice to contact the original authors as well, and to give credits. Edited September 11, 2016 by agrof
syclone Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Not really for this, but somebody made an app only for Piterx's Vitara instructions : here They did said it is his model.
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Are we getting another topic about this? Please let us never get used to injustice wether it is physical or in cyber space... Maybe a little strong but when someone got robbed we should not say something like this either: "not again, do we really have to complain whenever this happens, just get used to it!"...no we should not get used to it and yes we do have to complain whenever this happens!!! In the end justice justice will prevail... It is always good to share injustice and together make this stop, even though we know it will popup again somewhere else later in time! That is for sure, but should never stop us from being astonished... Just MHO... edit: typo Edited September 12, 2016 by 2LegoOrNot2Lego...
dr_spock Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Not really for this, but somebody made an app only for Piterx's Vitara instructions : here They did said it is his model. That's interesting idea to get around PDFs. I guess they can also make extra money if they put ads into the free app.
dragofoscar Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) I also recognised a seller on "ebay kleinanzeigen" and reported it immediately (offering instructions from madoca). The offer disapeared soon after. I will report it again and agian. Think this is the only way to deal with it. I am so greatful for the free instructions of all the professional MOC builder ! DoomedACE Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Hi guys, here is another one selling instructions from madocca on eBay: http://www.ebay.at/itm/182280805410?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. I've reported him, maybe other can chime in as well.
agrof Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) Thanks for watching guys! Hi guys, here is another one selling instructions from madocca on eBay: http://www.ebay.at/i...STRK:MEBIDX:IT. I've reported him, maybe other can chime in as well. I am not sure about this, this is typically the case, what I have described above (CAD-pdf made based on photo instructions). There is added value, which can be evaluated, but of course there is the question, if this person has the approval from Madoca. If yes, I see no problem with this item. But probably the answer is no, as Madoca's name is nowhere referred... so the copyright issue seems to be valid. Edited September 14, 2016 by agrof

YES. Yes we are, and you know what, I am fine with this. Of course, a single topic with an index of known thieves/scumbags would be better, but you can bet I'm not going to do that. Keep on reporting it and talking about this kind of behavior people, this is what gets the message out. any further issues, or that user magically appears here on EB one day, don't hesitate to send myself or another admin a link in a PM and we will deal with it swiftly.
