LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion

Series 4 was released on May and it had 3 monsters. Series 9 had one and it was released on January.

Given that this is only regular series in 2017, I wouldn't be surprised to see halloween minifigures. 

That being said, I wouldn't expect monster minifigures anytime soon since we just got a whole wave of them in S14

As for "spring" themed minifigures, the most obvious one would be the Easter Bunny reusing the Angry Birds eggs as Easter eggs. They could name it "Holiday Bunny" or something

Uncle Sam is way too political.... but what do I know... I thought "Cuttle Little Devil" was impossible

The list of figures is finalized one year before, right? So Lego themselves already know what figures will be in S17? Just curious.

I think any information would most likely have already been posted. We'll have to wait at least a couple of months, I think.

They could give it a fluffier appearance. Kind of like a plush brick. I think it could work.

Not always the case.  Some people like to hold on to their information and don't always share what they know.  I'm hoping that will not be the case this time.

Yes, The Lego Batman Movie.

Both LEGO Batman and the Ninjago Movie are licensed series in 2017. There is only one non licensed series.

If this wave is all "unique" characters, then I'm certainly interested in seeing what is in it. That being said, I don't have a major problem with "companion figures" as I tend to display mine in groups (warriors, horror, mythical etc.) so the more figures to add to whichever army is always good. However I am excited to see who is added, especially for the "sections" I collect; the Egyptian and Arabian warrior are two of my favourites from recent waves so I'm hoping for something unique in the next one.

That being said - unpopular opinion time - I'd take a wave of pure repeats (i.e. female ninja, gold or female knight, a different style of male vampire etc.), or a wave of "boring" figures (i.e. the kind I don't care for, like city folk) over the Batman wave. I'm not a big fan of the licences based CMF waves in general as I prefer seeing the unique ideas Lego can come up with and I'm generally pretty sick and fed up of Batman in general in movies, Lego, comics etc. As someone who loves the CMF series I'm annoyed we're only getting one "proper" wave next year; I hope 2018 has two or three.

The NInjago Movie is a join effort between the movie studio and LEGO. Just like The LEGO Movie sets were considered a licensed theme, I would consider consider the CMF series. After all, the studio will have a say in that is included and approved as it can impact the success of the film.

Did anyone else notice the molded umbrella in the LEGO Batman movie set? I bet we will get that in CMF Series 17 as well. I wonder if it will be another English businessman or perhaps a nanny which carries it.

I think I would be a little surprised if they introduced an "English Nanny" so soon after the Babysitter, unless perhaps they include a girl baby this time around. But what do I know? Maybe it could be used for a Mary Poppins figure in the second Disney CMF series wave, should one occur (although in the movie the umbrella has a distinct parrot head design as its handle ...)?

The regular CMF are getting shorter runs now

 

S15 was released on February, and replaced on May by Disney

S16 was released on August is being replaced now by the re-release of Disney

S17 will be released on May and will be replaced on August by Ninjago

 

So, I don't expect S17 to be out before the official release date

I know this isn't much news, but you know how there's the snowboarder and female snowboarder, life guard and female lifeguard? There will be a two new additions to finally make new couples. Now, I expect that there will be a female gamer and groom, but what do you think? Who could be the new additions to the couples?
