rmoore Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 So after moving and taking apart my Bricklinked 10179, I decided to rebuild it while trying to smooth out the look of it on the top. All of the extra pieces added a few more pounds and around 1200 or so pieces to it's already hefty frame. Really happy with the way it turned out! http://imgur.com/a/IQxp7 Quote
Frike Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 The smooth surface definitely looks good! I'm quite jealous actually. Quote
Hold0511 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Nice - looks good, I'm still lacking the space to even think about BL'ing one of these....but when I do I may emulate this look...time to start saving those tiles... Quote
makoy Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I've been thinking of doing the same thing and I must say, it looks great! Quote
flo333 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Looks Amazing! You made a huge improvement to an already awesome looking design :) Quote
FTG Prime Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Looks fantastic ! The studded look on the UCS Falcon always bothered me and your MOD just fixed that ! Quote
deraven Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Very nice! Maybe they'll do an re-issue with this upgrade to the look so we can enjoy more than just your great pictures! Quote
Robianco Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 This looks great. Studless can work great on MOCs and this is a fantastic example of how to achieve it on such a large scale build... specially one that has so many curves thought it. I don't see Lego replicating this though... they've always maintained that the stud is integral to who they are and should always be visible. Great work on this anyway.... It's definitely something I'd consider if I were to ever BL a 10179 of my own. Quote
BrickJagger Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Great work! Looks very accurate to the film. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Very nice! It looks so much better now. Quote
fred67 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I have to say it really does look absolutely amazing. Awesome job. Quote
ezaida18 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Wow! Stunning to say the very least. Might give my BL version a shot slowly. :) Thank you for the inspiration. Quote
H_Solo Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 That looks really nice and sleek... i like it a lot! You could also add a little "shabby" look by adding some tiles in old gray (or even yellowed) Tiles. Great work, great inspiration. Quote
jemakrol Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Wow! Taking 10179 to a whole new level, I see! Cool! Looks awesome me thinks! Quote
Jayoheazy Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Saw this on Reddit. Very damn good Quote
kieran Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 That looks amazing to me, will be a lot easyer to keep free from dust as well Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Looks better than the original, I'd say. Great job! Quote
j30spiff Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 WOW! I really like the (mostly) studless look. Nice update to a classic set. Quote
Miro78 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 That's a beauty. I love it even more than the original UCS. I am not a fan of excessive amount of studs. You did great! Miro Quote
Schneeds Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) It makes it look so much more polished. I really like it. I wouldn't have guessed it would take that many pieces but it was worth it. Edited October 10, 2016 by Schneeds Quote
