Posted September 20, 20168 yr Hi guys, I'm new here, and I want to present my newest MOC: Pierce Arrow XT "Tiller Truck" in colors of San Jose Fire Department A tiller truck, also known as a tractor-drawn aerial, tiller ladder, or hook-and-ladder truck, is a specialized turntable ladder mounted on a semi-trailer truck. Unlike a commercial semi, the trailer and tractor are permanently combined and special tools are required to separate them. It has two drivers, with separate steering wheels for front and rear wheels. One of the main features of the tiller-truck is its enhanced maneuverability. The independent steering of the front and back wheels allow the tiller to make much sharper turns which is particularly helpful on narrow streets and apartment complexes with mazelike roads. An additional feature of the tiller-truck is that its overall length, over 50 feet (15 m) for most models, allows for additional storage of tools and Equipment Some departments elect to use tiller-quints, which are tiller trucks that have the added feature of being fitted with an on-board water tank.[5] These are particularly useful for smaller departments that do not have enough personnel to staff both an engine company and a truck company. Real tiller truck responding: My Lego model has this functions: Hauler: - front axle steering "Hand of God" - movable engine pistons, wheel setup 6x4 - cab tilting - openable doors - lighting: 5x PF Lights, 6x Light brick 1x2 - (Lights & Sound) Ladder trailer: - wheels steering, (either with steering wheel in tillermans cab or through gearing on fifth wheel) - openable stowage compartments - sliding doors on tillerman`s cab - side outriggers - (hand operated) - ladder lifting - 2x linear actuator (hand operated) - ladder rotation - (hand operated) ,360° range - ladder boom (hand operated with string) - lighting: 5x PF Lights, Battery-Box, 1x PF Switch,+ 1x M-Motor & 2x PF Switch for flashing effect
September 20, 20168 yr Astonishing level of realism and detail so much so I've just spent 15 minutes playing a game of Spot the Real Thing  Edited September 20, 20168 yr by grum64
September 20, 20168 yr Incredibly close to original. After looking on photos of real thing, first shot of LEGO model just doesn't look like LEGO)
September 20, 20168 yr I literally scrolled twice through the post, looking for LEGO. And than I realized what is going on...
September 20, 20168 yr Why you post only photos of the real model? I understand you post some for reference, but so many? I guess this doesn't fit the community guidelines. Kidding kidding kidding. This is such a stunning model! I seriously had to look twice before I saw it was lego. Very good job!
September 20, 20168 yr This is an amazing build, so much realism! Cool indeed how one could easily mix up a photo of the real truck with your model...excellent! Edited September 20, 20168 yr by 2LegoOrNot2Lego...
September 20, 20168 yr As others have said, you shouldn't double post so many photos :-D Extreeeeeemly realistic model! A real hall-of-famer! Edited September 20, 20168 yr by MajklSpajkl

September 20, 20168 yr Holy smokes! That's a masterpiece! As others have said, it's tough to spot which is the real one in the pics! While the whole thing is great, I especially like your use of the flex axels at the end of the ladder and to set off the fenders with the metallic color. Great!
September 20, 20168 yr It wasn't very quick until I realised I'm looking at LEGO model already. Great attention to all the details. Did you paint some pieces?
September 20, 20168 yr Geeeezo....this is stunning. any chance of a video? I know most operations are done by hand, but would still be nice to have a video
September 21, 20168 yr I can only second what others have said, but wow that is fantastic. I couldn't tell when the pictures of the actual Lego model started
September 21, 20168 yr Incredible build, one of the best vehicle MOCs I've seen! Great pictures too. May I ask how long it took to make this? Also have you shared it with the SJFD?
September 21, 20168 yr This is a very cool truck, the amount of details is unbelievable, it could easily be confused with an scale model or even with a real truck, even when this is your first post, this model, the quality of the pictures and the presentation are very amazing and completely outstanding, nice work.
September 21, 20168 yr Astonishing level of realism and detail so much so I've just spent 15 minutes playing a game of Spot the Real Thing  This x 1,000 Excellent job!
September 21, 20168 yr holy moly - well done. I have to purloin a few of your ideas I think :) I really like the ladder rungs. On a related note - who wants to put this to Jim as a definition of Model Team?
