blackdeathgr Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Imagine you eat everyday with your wife. You inevitably talk to each other about everyday issues and stuff. Now imagine a mariner's house somewhere in an Eslandolan colony at this vast Archipelago we all dwell within... (Eslandolan mariner): Honey, i will be away for a couple of months. Lovely fruits by the way! (Jealous wife): Is that so (insert a very typical Eslandolan name)? Are you going to visit Breshaun again and that little sl... of yours?? If you ever go there i will seriously poison your bananas! (Eslandolan mariner): Relax honey.. that was only an one time thing. And i am not visiting Breshaun any time soon. (Jealous wife): Then DO tell me where are you going this time!! (Eslandolan mariner): Okkk...This time we are going to carry a huge load of gold back to our capital in the new world. I wish i had a few coins of these to buy you a present... (He seriously wants her off his back...!) (Jealous wife): Ok honey, now eat those bananas you so love...! A couple of days later... (and do notice all those animals around...) (Random gossip-loving neighbour): Hello there neighbour! Where is your husband by the way? Is he on a trip to Breshaun again? (Jealous wife): Hello to you too! No, this time i made him swear to tell me the truth. He is on a serious state business carrying piles of gold back home. He might even buy me a present this time! (Random gossip-loving neighbour): Oh, how nice of him after all he has done to you! At a tree around the corner (Random gossip-loving neighbour's cat): Meow, mewewew (Random birds): Chirp, chirpchirp? (Random gossip-loving neighbour's cat): Meowwwwww! Some chirp-chatting later in a rock off the coast of the Bastion (Gossiping Seagull): Chirp, chirp, kraaaaa! (Talking parrot): Chirp, kraaa, kraaa, is that so? (Gossiping Seagull): Chiiiiiirp!!! (Talking parrot): Then i NEED to share this piece of information with my owner... Need i describe more????? This build was inspired by a saying that goes something like "A little birdy told me" and is used to anonymously share info while gossiping! I hope you enjoyed the story! Quote
Franco Clarke Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I like that take on the idea, I guess Eslandola will have to place a ban on talking parrots now! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Fun take on that saying! And I really like the second pic, the house exterior with the clothesline. Lovely little house with nice use of that wall panel window. Quote
SilentWolf Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I like this story though I was expecting some monkeys to be involved eventually. A talking parrot is much more believable though. I better check that all my Lego parrots are locked up. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Ha, clever story. Reminds me of a shampoo TV commerical, she told two friends and then those two told two more, and so on. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Ahah ! Fun story ! I like the end with the animals chatting all together ! Very delightful ! Good job ! Quote
Captain Genaro Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Lots of fun to see the way the story progressed. As for the builds, the house has a very nice, quaint aura about it (though I'm not sure I like the leaves growing off the left side of the roof). The sea rocks are also nicely done, especially the way you incorporated the seaweed and other growth. I recommend adding some more details to the ground (rocks, plants, dirt, etc.) to help add some variation to the ground. Keep up the good work and don't talk to any parrots you don't know. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 Thanks for your comments guys! The idea was stuck on my head from the start of this challenge and all i was thinking was the order of the mini-mocs i needed to tell the story. The main attraction was indeed the exterior of the house with the two neighbors gossiping while the rest are merely there to progress the story (although admittedly i could have given them some more love). Finally, regarding the challenge restrictions, if you stuck those mini-mocs together (house interior behind exterior, tree in front and the sea rock next to it, you have about 3/4 of a 32x32 baseplate, in a semi-logical way. Anyway, thanks for watching! Quote

The monkeys have a tendency to appear in my MOCs... Quote

I am quite aware that it was the wrong person to include monkey's but the storyline was so on target I figured someone was borrowing your ideas. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Naaah, no monkeys this time although at some point i WAS thinking of putting more (insert all) animals outside of the house and make a little quiz about which one was secret-teller! Quote
