[MOD] 42050 Dragster Supercharged with 2x Buggy motors

Hi, I've brought you simple fun mod of 42050 B

42050 B is useless as A model, but good base for crazy wheeled "stick"

My MOD is = 42050B + 2x (Buggy motor+LiPo + Sbrick) + Servo motor.

I've tested stock 81 mm tumbler tyres and larger 94 mm Unimog tyres. 107 mm Xerion is bad, cause tractor thread pattern is bad for fast speeds.

Used iPhone as speed tracker. Not sure that it is 100% right, but cmparing to other models shared online, speed is 99% correct. Not a speed record, but it is not a bone chassis with motors also. I knew I can't beat speed record, so I've made another record: the fastest LEGO model with custom CHROMED parts (Chrome Block City, thanks to Aurelius)

Excellent Dragster! And to think still some people say you cant get RC performance out of Lego. When will they learn.

It looks amazing with the chromed parts, is very impressive how fast it goes; in the minute 2:30 it was so close to flip over but it got back on the 4 wheels, looks like it is very stable, nice work RM8.

Oh dear.... @boxerlego - gotta love ya and the RC debate thing.  Perhaps we all need to define "RC" - if we are willing to accept the worst performing RC out there, brushed motors, like 20 year old stuff then perhaps we can compare Lego with RC.  But we kinda have to be fair right?  Best of Lego with best of RC..... If we are comparing apples to apples then we have to be fair.  There is no comparison and never will be (RC cars with brushless motors easily exceed 120 KM/h).  I am not trying to be biased.   I love Lego and trying to push the boundaries just like the next guy.  But never mind the lack of power from Lego.  It is just basic.... in your own words..... "science" ---- ABS will not hold up to metal parts, let alone stainless steel or even yes, there are some crazed RC fans out there, just like us crazed Lego fans, who push the limits and go for titanium and other parts.  Basic difference in the makeup of these substances.  RC motors, gears, drive shafts etc. can turn up to tens of thousands of RPMs .... more than enough to melt ABS.  Lego could go in the direction of Minds-i.com, and then be much closer to RC.  But as Lego is now they are eons behind RC. 

 

Anyways.... not to distract from this post.  Too much fun and a great job.  I love this build and agree that although the A model itself was not all that great the colors, tires, and other pieces make it a great set to buy (although somewhat expensive)

Sure in some sense Lego is eons behind RC when it comes to development in a high performance Drive Train that is both capable on and off road But how many people are driving that RC car in the house, I hope you start to get the picture. Now comparing LEGO to RC, Sure In some sense Lego does not have this capability as RC and extra caution is needed for the Drive train to not rip itself apart under conditions RC could easily handle and that to some might sound like a draw back but for other that sounds like a problem and a solvable one at best. I for one believe if built right and powered properly LEGO can handle the Power from a powerful RC motor. For me it the other way around and RC is Eons Behind LEGO because with LEGO everything can be made better... I know it sounds generic but think about it for a moment, When your looking at your RC Vehicle at night and your thinking to yourself can I make It better and then you find your self reaching for the LEGO box to make it better in some way. Just know what is making what because I could easily attach a Lego Body shell to an RC frame and Then the Perfect LEGO RC Car is complete, Just not how you had in mind...

With that definition then anything really is possible.  Even Lego flying!!! 

 

 

lol.... but really.  Not sure that's how it works.  But I appreciate the enthusiasm.  I really do.  As mentioned before, I really enjoy your work. 

 

I will shelve the conversation for now, at least on my end.  Don't want to distract from this great build, which I feel we are doing.  In regards to Rm8's creation, I must say that I love the back tires on this.  I built my own dragster with these tires and I expect to see continue to see some great MOCs with these tires.
