Garmadon Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s most reliable source for shipping news. October 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 6 Editor’s Column. Due to heavy winds and some daring and vicious pirates – not to mention the huge conflagration that consumed our very own offices in King’s Port – the past few months have seen a great many ships about which very little has been found out. Not that that, in this age of sail, is all that uncommon – but thankfully for everyone, that is about to change! The King’s Port Advertiser is back up and running, and the ships have begun to sail in. These past few months we have seen an ever–increasing boldness on the part of the pirates – Harrison Torn, Bloody Bill, and Zublius Von Wreck have all been at it again, and our own victorious hero, L’Olius, has been reaping the spoils of battle once more! Mutinies and unrest have been on the rise, and unfortunately, despite the renewed activity of the Mardierians, a great deal of their attempts have been baffled, and some have even been taken by their prey – especially by those pesky Eslandolans! And speaking of Eslandolans – how will their new actions and those of their King affect the trade? How long will it be before King Fernando is marching on Granoleon? And will that stop other traders from visiting the Oleander ports in the meanwhile? Only time will tell! But to get on with what you all were waiting for so long! – Tips and News: Corrington Quick Wing Convoy takes the Doubloons! A hugely successful trading run was performed here by the Corries and their trading partners, and they carried a remarkable amount of gold in with them to Nova Terelli! How long will it be before the pirates and privateers open their eyes to the prizes sailing this route? Sea Sparrow fires on its own ships! What is going on with this captain?! The dead of night seems to have confused the bearings of the Sea Sparrow’s captain, and under an impression that he was under attack they began to fire on the very ships they were escorting! Thankfully the mistake was caught before too much damage was done – but we’ll only have to see if this captain can keep his command and position for very long! Vessel waiting to be salvaged near Nelissa! While the huge Oleander fleet mostly escaped notice, and sailed calmly into Terelli with only a couple of casualties caused by the infamous pirate, Harrison Torn, they left one of their number, the Taurus, stranded near the large Eslandolan island waiting for some adventuresome bounty hunter to go and rescue what remains! A huge treasure found by the Pearl Diving Canoe! This time these small bounty seekers have struck it rich, returning to port with a huge 445 DBs! Will this attract other bounty seekers to the area? Daring solo trade runs yielding great results! In an audacious trade run from Belson to Quinnsville, the Fingernail found some good success, and Neptune’s Rogue found traders dying for their goods at both Berelli and Bastion! Will this bring a new influx of to these under–visited ports? Nightcaps for King Fernando! Going through nightcaps as fast as he does, it’s no wonder King Fernando Augusto VIII is willing to offer a good price for any more that he can get a hold of! However, he has suggested that if anyone really wants to get them to him they had better deliver them in Granoleon instead of at Terelli! This month we once more have so many tales of naval glory to tell that we will not be able to tell them all. But here goes for the best of them: Pirates reap a neat profit: The large open sea between Nova Terelli and Granoleon seems to have been found by the pirates as a great place for an ambushment, and they certainly took it out on the Eslandolan Double Duty convoy sailing through there! The Carno and Garvey privateers, the Spar Slicer and Holyar Stern destroyed and captured two Eslandolan escorts, and another was sailed off with by Bloody Bill. The rest of the escorts made a brave stand, though, and captured and sunk a few other attackers. Battle between the Sea Rats and L’Olius! In an epic sea fight, our very own heroic privateer sunk the large Sea Rat Fortune’s Miskeeper in the famous Crooked Sparrow, but the Puny Sparrow did not get off as well, and was captured by the pirates. Could this be the beginning of a feud between the two?! The Mad Marauding Maudi are brought to justice by the sea purging Justicia! We at the King’s Port Advertiser look forward with suspense to their upcoming trial in Corrington! Battle with Mardier! The Navigator and Pride of Poseidon, sailing in the WOP Oleon convoy, took two Mardierian privateers after a short and bloody boarding fight near the Terraversan shores. After seeing this, the rest of the attacking Mardierians fled. We think they were probably really Garveys', as otherwise they assuredly would not have demonstrated such cowardly behaviour! Pirate Graveyard! The Eslandolan Dragon’s Teeth convoy veritably did show some dragon teeth to the pirates in this run! Sinking two pirates, and capturing three more, we have begun to question whether the purpose of this heavily escorted convoy was not simply to act as a pirate trap after all? At any rate, the pirate lords will surely be wary of attacking it again in the future! Legostone Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Legostone Pride of Elysabethtown – Result: Battered by winds and waves, sank to the bottom like a weighted stone. Outswam a pirate. By swimming down, no pirate dares to do that! Well, I'm a bit disappointed after waiting this long. Well, there is always a next time and in total there is still some profit, even after losses. Quote

Jacob Nion Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) In Ska's original results it is written that my Queen Annetta's Revenge took the La Salamandra instead of a NPC ship. Not that I'm nitpicking but it would make a difference since the Salamandra is already moced. It's on the bottom of the result sheet Spock has posted above. Edited October 5, 2016 by Jacob Nion Quote

Ah, I was wondering if someone would bring that up! Yes, that and one other captured ship has been changed, because of technical details (you see, Ska had the convoy forms, so he knew that La Salamandra and the other one were available to be captured - but the submitting forms for those were lost, so he just put the names in as if they were NPC, and didn't roll at all for them to escape or suchlike: at least, I'm supposing he did that from what information I've gone through. At any rate, those ships themselves were not actually rolled the first time, so they could not be legitimately captured). Yes, unfortunately it does make the difference that you'll have to MOC the ship first, but in order to calculate all the ships correctly it was essentially necessary to change that. But on the other hand, the more ships that you build the better - looking forward to it! Quote

Perhaps, since Jacob had been counting on not having to MOC this ship for the past month, it would be allowable for him to build a micro-scale version? That's up to Jacob to agree to of course, but that seems like a fair compromise. I've had a month to build my 4A, knowing that it was an un-MOCed ship, but Jacob now has 9 days if he wants to be able to use it in the next MCRA. Quote

Good point, and I hadn't thought of that - but after all, you know, all those with missing ships who captured some will only have the 9 days as well! However, a good micro-scale build has always been a way to get a ship, provided it is approved by the licencing court Quote

Legostone Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 What I feel like need mentioning - showing the results as plain text is quite helpful, especially if you don't want to scan screenshots for your ships. I think it would be great if that can be used again for the next MRCA result, but maybe with a small change, in the way that you simply paste a table (I'm guessing the results are written down in a table somewhere): Faction Available Funds Corrington 5,487 Eslandola 5,238 Oleon 7,691 Sea Rats 2,292 (I just copy pasted a part of the October summary to show that this works). Would make the presentation a whole lot more readable and still searchable. Quote
Garmadon Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 I actually did it entirely by hand (without any tables) this time, but I'm sure it would go much faster with some, and that's almost certainly how Ska does it! Glad you like the plain text above the previous way, though - I tend to prefer it as well! As to previous questions as to when the results will be added to the accounts - I'll check with Phred and the automation team to see how much needs to be done for that, but hopefully it'll all be worked out fairly soon! Could you try to just copy the same part from the October summary to test again? Quote
Bregir Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 @Garmadon I need to have confirmed whether Mardier's Misfit, HMS Gauntlet, and/or HMS Hunter was lost during your part of the MRCA that you rolled. Looking at Ska's original roll, none of them appears captured, but at least Hunter and Gauntlet seems to have captured the vessel you claim captured them... And perhaps you should check these "captured"/"captured by" as there seems to be some general confusion? Sorry to add to your workload! Quote
