I'd say Vikings with Crownie swords! X-D Those viking swords are really dreadful..

Though those crownies are very nice too. I'd collect both.. :-P

The decision is on you sir!!

I'd say go for Crownies. They are still in production and it might be more interesting to collect things and anticipate new releases from a "living" line. They should also be highly available.

but if you had to pick one?

Vikings, since they are out of production for not that long, I'd start collecting them before they get expensive. Crownies, though, are like soldiers though, so you can make an organized army with those..

Vikings are more for raiding towns and such rather than army purposes.

So it would also depend on your purpose with the figs.

ok thanks zz-80, if the next opoinion doesn't contradict yours I shall begin my crownie army!

Asking other's opinions is a good thing, *y* but haven't you made a choice yourself yet?

Which army should I start collecting?

Crownies?

or

Vikings?

What an odd question.

It depends on wether You like Vikings or Castle.

Do You want an army Vikings they'll come fairly cheap since the sets are on sale most places - only downside is that the theme has been discontinued. So in a while it'll be difficult to add to the army.

Though I'm puzzled as to why You ask that question. Don't You have an opinion Yourself? To me this is sounding like a guy wanting to start a thread, any kind of thread and this was the best he came up with.

pls prove me wrong

KimT

EDIT: PS a Crownie is a soldier of the new Castle theme. Crown symbol on shields and uniforms, hence the slang name "crownie".

Well i would say Crownies as they have more life left in the line, however at the end of the day it's really down to which you prefer more.

I would say crownies. They are cheaper and are much easier to obtain. ;-)

I would say both armys are easy to collect!

g577-0000-xx-13-1.jpg

Since if you want a army just buy this it comes with plenty of weapons and troops for 20 nicker!

I gotta get me one of theses also the Crownies one

I dont know whether you thought this was going to be a Which is better? Polled thread but we cant really make the decision since you havent explained what you are into Rebels or Royal?

Also Crownies are a bit more since you have to buy a

crownies will be less expensive

Actually Jifel Its cheaper with Vikings since to make a army you only need to buy a Viking Chess and the battle wagon with around 7 Vikings in (I got it for 2007 Christmas, Brilliant!) and you can get the 7019 Viking Fortress which is cheaper than the Castle and just buy the Viking boat for Troop movement and reinforcement! And you get 6 Troops and a massive Serpent! 43 Troops altogether in just them sets, including a fort, boat and Battle Wagon!

And crownies you will need to buy 10 Crossbow Attacks which are sold out on Lego.com and would come to

As far as I see it, it depends on two things: which theme you like better and what kind of army you would like to build. Vikings are essentially medieval pirates, disorganized and with an emphasis on individual warriors (hence the lack of uniforms). In my opinion this rather limits the size of your army, since you can only vary so much with the given torsos and heads before it gets repetitive and the individuality of the warriors is lost.

The Crown army on the other hand is well organized, with the soldiers pretty much all looking alike thanks to the uniforms. You can vary slightly with heads to create some individual touches here and there, but essentially you can have an army of dozens or even hundreds of soldiers. Also Crownies have the advantage of being in production at the moment, which means they are easily obtainable.

Personally, I like both themes very much, they each have their own appeal. However, based on availability and the fact that there is virtually no limit to your army size, I'd say Crownies are much better army builders. But as I said before, it's really a matter of personal taste.

I think Its better with Individual Warriors than all the same.

If you want people to know its YOUR unique army you should get Vikings

If you want to have a Diciplined familiar army get the Crownies

With Vikings you can make your own flags and Signs. But with Crownies you know who the leader is The Good King and you cant really experiment with them.

Have you considered half'n'half???

Thats a brilliant idea!

You can get a Few Crownies to be defending a castle and get some Vikings to siege the castle!

And you can show some Vignettes of the Vikings looting the houses at the gate!

I have about 5 more vikings but:

I meant organized army.

I can MAKE my crownie army different!

Crownies are cheaper from lego.com (only lego or ebay for me)

They'll be the best crownie army ever! I'll show you!

p.s I have 1 castle and 1 viking custom base all set up in one tabletown warzone (pictures if anyone wants to see)

for the crown!

Sure, I'd love to see some pics of your Castle/Viking layout!

I think you should go with the vikings. The are two or three torso designs in castle. There are five or six in viking. Vikings conquered a large percentage of Europe's coastline in their day. Castle fights puny skeletons and trolls.
