Hi,

I have a friend from my LUG going over to the UK this week and I'd like him to get a few things from the LEGO stores there, especially things I can't get here in Australia. Can anyone tell me how much a cup full of parts from Pick-a-Brick (or Pick-a-Model) wall is? How many cups sizes are there?
Are there polybags available?
Do they have build-a-minifig in the store? How much are they?
Anything else you'd recommend getting?

Thanks.

I can't remember off the top of my head how much a PAB cup is at the Liverpool store but I think there's two cup sizes.

There's a B-A-M tower in the Liverpool store and I think it's £4.99 for a set of three minifigures with accessories in their plastic clamshell case. The nice thing is there are often various licensed parts in there too.

I'm not sure if there's anything specific worth picking up that you couldn't get anywhere else. Whereabouts is your friend visiting? It might be worth knowing just in case anybody from that area has specific knowledge of that particular store.

The real shame is there is no longer a Lego store in the Bullring in Birmingham any longer, but if you find a Lego store within commuting distance, it's either £10.99 or £11.99 i think for a large pick a brick cup, and around £6.50 for a small one.

There used to be a website, which showed what parts were on the PAB walls. however it relies on AFOL to update it.  See below, but it is only really up to date for one or two walls now.  Also I note, years ago, each store appeared to have a different selection of bricks, however in more recent years, since they have offered monthly models which can be built using the PAB wall bricks, the selection of bricks has become more standard accross the stores.

Thanks paul_delahaye.

What happened to that Birmingham store?
I see from the LEGO website that there are stores in Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield, maybe my friend will be heading to those areas.

Sorry to hear that the selection of bricks has gone down. I'd have thought having unique selections is cool.
Reminds me of the PAB wall at Legoland Denmark I visited a few years ago - not very impressive, just standard bricks in basic colours.

The Lego Store in Cardiff is good. I agree, shame Bullring closed. Why did that close? It's the second city, surely it would've had enough trade? Also, I heard that Leicester Square is getting a Lego store...

I live near Birmingham and I never knew there was a Lego shop there. Where was it? I have been hoping that they would open one as I loved it when I went to Sheffield but it is a bit too far to travel just to the Lego shop.

You could speak with Kevin Hyatt to get the latest news?

Thanks Venunder.

Yes, I heard that about Leicester Square too, I wonder when it'll be open?

That is correct. It is £11.99 and £6.50 respectively for the large and small PAB cups. A portion of the wall contains the parts for the monthly build models. However some store managers still try to offer some different parts at their store. I visited the two London stores earlier this year and for the most part they had consistent parts however I managed to score wall sconces from the one store.

Cheers LucyCol. Sounds like it will be quite the opening event!
