I wish that 2x2 cut corner was a 1x2 instead, though. Agreed. A 1 x 2 would be very useful. I'd also like to see a 2x2 and 3x3 curved 'pie' tile and the inverted corresponding pieces. It's not my favourite modular - a little too much colour against too many black pieces at the base and I'm not a fan of the fountain. It would be nice to have new torsos introduced too, rather than repeating those from Fun In The Park. Also disappointed that the parrot is not a blue version of the original parrot but a bit of a tie-dyed mess and this would have been a good opportunity to provide us with some Friends cutlery pieces in grey. I also wish they'd stop using the bulky flowers piece and go back to using the old flowers - some new plants and bushes wouldn't go amiss either. Hopefully there will also be some new musical instruments in CMFs to add to the ballet/arts studio. However, these comments are being ultra critical, The modular buildings are always great fun to build and a decent source of parts. I really like the dentist and chair in particular. For me, the best design in terms of colour scheme and exterior design is the corner building with blue and yellow pastel tone. Blue tower..a bit boring shape as more and more I see it. It would have been better if it has pastel tone colour scheme like left hand side corner building. the most dislike building, for me is the middle one with sand green. weird proportion of red flower parts and mauve and violet colour awning does not seem to be good. But most of all, the roof part was the most disappointed part that TLG used a shovel part of excavator as a roof surface. What about slope bricks with different height, one of traditional modular building technique, which we could see from most of modular buildings' roof. Quote
Roebuck Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I have not fallen in love at first sight with a modular since Parisian Restaurant and that is still the case.. But it usually change when I start building them Seems like Assembly square have a lot of nice details and I like the fact that they included a florist and a baker, but unfortunately no new pigeon mould.. Ondra Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Well, great set I love it.Not so great pricing as always...About 250 euros in Czech republic compared to UK prices which is about less than 200 euros it looks like I call to my family in Britain and my cousin it will send to Czech republic with small fee. TLC you are abusing market position in my country...As always. Or I rather stick with my diecast cars . Quote
nana Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 (edited) This will be the most expensive Lego set I buy. I am not a big fan of it at the first glance. I like its interior more than exterior. I have all the modulars and going to buy no matter what. Edited October 19, 2016 by nana Quote

It is actually very VERY good price even for Czech currency. Its 279,99 USD, which means 6 776 CZK, so more likely it will be priced as 6 990,- CZK. That is 1,74 CZK per piece. Regular modular tooked around 4 490,- CZK so its just 2 500 CZK more..for 1 600 additional pieces. What did you expect? 199 USD? :D 4 minutes ago, nana said: This will be the most expensive Lego set I buy. I am not a big fan of it at the first glance. I like its interior more than exterior. Here in the Netherlands it is also unfair, while the Brick Bank os 150 Euros (as usual) in Germany, in the Netherlands it is 170 (!) Euros... The amount of tax is nearly the same in both countries, and the traveling costs are also not the reason I suspect the toy shop companies have a monopoly in the Netherlands, which is the main reason why it is around 20% more expensive here (also the prices in the catalog are removed) The more reason to do a roadtrip to Germany, which is relatively cheaper than buying it here... If you don't mind 'modding' a little, maybe you may place the lamp-posts on other positions. Quote

Maybe that´s because UK declared Brexit. So the currency of english pound is decreaseing...So basically yes, it is cheaper to buy it there, but in that case I am wondering why you´re complaining? :) Quote

Luckily for us, Lego hasn't caught on. Quote

Luckily for us, Lego hasn't caught on. Hopefully they dont, and they keep the pricing strategy similar. Although £170 seems too cheap for this... Then again, Big Ben is cheap for the amount of parts, but that has lots of tiny parts. The other prices seem reasonably correct. If that is the correct price, I'll have to get 2 of these! As it is, I think this is a great looking set. Lots of tiny details from the looks of it, 3 buildings crammed in, but still nicely proportioned. The only thing I'd change regarding the colour of the dark blue tower, will actually be the red 2x2x2 slopes, as the dark blue seems fine, just not with the red. I also think, with 2 of these sets (maybe even just 1), it offers a very easy option to mod it to be a block of flats/apartments. Just carry on the mid floor styling to the ground, remove the shop glass fronts, make the middle building as the main entrance and change the interior. Join the left building to the right, and there you have a nice set of apartments, or even a nice new hotel. Quote
adello25 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Already thinking about the Assembly Square XL that I will design similar to the Grand Emporium, Town Hall, and Fire Brigade XL's that I have Quote

Unless I'm missing something. Looks like an absolute beast imo. Quote
Lego Conductor Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 If that's 4 sets then 16,008 pieces! Yikes! Quote
snefroe Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 hmmm... I'm not really blown away by this set, honestly. lots of details, lots of figs, but... it kinda misses finesse, style... Quote

They are also quite colorful and feel cramped with lots of stuff going on at the same time. The one Disney park I visited (Disney World in Orlando) was very different, and had wide streets and quite a lot of space between the buildings. Very interesting to hear your impression. Disneyland has one wide street with undersized, simplified fantasy versions of historical buildings all in a row. It's the undersized and simplified exteriors that bother me. Maybe I wouldn't care if I hadn't already been spoiled by the amazing, earlier modular buildings. :) I really like the idea of a small square with a few buildings crowded around it like one sees in Italy. Love the idea... don't love the execution. Quote

Hoth Rebel Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 At first I was skeptical about this set, but after some second thoughts and seeing the MODs I came to the conclusion that I need at least 2 10255.. So I made some 'Photoshop' options for the buildings: Midrif mirror by Kevin Langenberg, on Flickr Leftside mirror by Kevin Langenberg, on Flickr All mirror by Kevin Langenberg, on Flickr -Bakery mirror by Kevin Langenberg, on Flickr Midrif mirror 2 by Kevin Langenberg, on Flickr I like the last one (Midrif mirror 2) the most together with the one that LegoSjaak produced. In this version you'll probably have to modify one of the flower shops into something else. Quote
finnbricker Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 While I'm not too fond of yeat another collection of small buildings (like DO), I also see the possibility to mod two sets into three 32x32 buildings, two of which will look really nice. I'm thinking of turning the sand blue building to a corner one. And I definitely want to combine the two bakeries into one 32-wide building with two towers. The building is 14-wide now so combining two and adding an extra window in the middle would give 30. So it still needs some planning to reach 32 in a great looking way. But honestly, I've got no idea what to do with the 16-wide tractor scoop house. Maybe leave it at that, adding another floor? Or just doubling it to 32-wide. I don't really like the house. The ground floor looks like a Friends shop, the second floor looks like a very average MOC and the roof, well, basically it consists of two bulky pieces. Disappointing. Quote
Sven F Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 (edited) I think many people are put off by the garish colors which are falsely represented in those photos. I don't know who or why always cranks up the contrast in some official photos. That middle building is supposed to be sand green and it looks bright green in the picture. The tower is dark blue which in reality is a very deep color, but again looks so bright here. Sand blue looks almost like medium azure. Edited October 19, 2016 by Sven F Quote
Terrasher Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I think the light blue and white building would make the best full-sized modular. I hope to see many mods of this set, way more than there were done for the Brick Bank. Quote
