Hi all, I'm proud to show you my latest Exo-Force styled mech: the Golden Thumbs.

It's a Submarine type mech, used to accomplish under-water missions at high pressures.

A general view

goldenthumbs_001.jpg

Detail of the feet

goldenthumbs_002.jpg

Its primary weapon, a harpoon launcher with shock missiles (like the charged projectiles of the Nautilus)

goldenthumbs_003.jpg

Secondary weapons, two katanas stocked in the legs' armour

goldenthumbs_005.jpg

Rear view; note the two propellers and the air tank

goldenthumbs_006.jpg

The cockpit has a limited opening range due to the presence of the overhead air connectors

goldenthumbs_010.jpg

The reason of its strange name, and the powerful wrist mounted lighting system

goldenthumbs_012.jpg

As you can see, the torso can rotate with respect to the lower body

goldenthumbs_008.jpg

As you noticed, I added a lot of Trans-Neon-Yellow parts so that it would shine like some bio-luminescent creature from the abyss.

More pics here.

Hope you like it :-$

I had the same idea (serious side of it :-D ) when I built it.

:-D i love the yellow submarine! good all-arond detail.

Yes, something in your sign suggests you could like a Beatles quote ;-)

Thanks for the positive comment :'-)

Great work! *wub* There is so much to like, but my favourite parts are the katana scabbards and the air tank! I also love how you gave it a waist.

He needs someone to fight now... X-D

The Katanas are a great addition. I like how the waist rotates, that's very realistic.

Are the props and jets movable? Seems like the should be since a much underwater would encounter a lot of resistance if it tried to propel itself in the vertical position.

Someone like a big metallic Ancient Walrus? X-D

The propellers only move in the orizontal plan. To move in the vertical plan, you'll need to use the feet mounted jets. You can also combine propellers and jets to move in diagonal, both vertically and orizonatally.

Looks very good! I like the unique twist on the mech theme, I have not seen an underwater mech before, so it is new to me. I really like the yellow colour scheme, and the rotating hips, the harpoon gun and the trans green details all add up to make a great Mech! *y*

Although good like the others have said, I see the reoccuring problem that many aspiring mecha builders seem to keep encountering; the galidodor clicky joins are horridly exposed, and there are some definate techniques you could use to hide and protect them. The top torso looks too much like a V to me, and being like a humanoid mecha, I like proportion. Not only as such, I also kindof feel it just looks like a similar exo set in yellow, with afew added details.

Hope you dont take offence - I just like to deal suggestions *wacko*

However, 'tis nice, I've always loved underwater themes, its what I grew up with *wub*

I, too, feel those joints are a bit too exposed at times. Do you have any link or pic of those "techniques you could use to hide and protect them" 8-| ?

As for being "like a similar exo set in yellow", it's exactly what my mechas are :-P

I agree a humanoid mech should have better proportions, but these are more like big combat suits with a modified torso to carry and protect the human pilot. So the torso is a bit out of proportion to host the cockpit.

As you may remember, I tried something different, and a bit more proportionate for a humanoid mech here :-$

Thanks for your suggestions :-) . Sometimes, you like to have not-so-completely-positive comments: it show that that person is truly considering what you've done, and he has something to say about it!

Luxor V!! I always love your stuff. I think you're a great builder. Personally, I like the v-shape of this and other mechs. The V-shaped torso is reminiscent of a built man and I think it adds a badass feeling to mechs. I really like the use of different color fingers for some reason. I've used it myself and I just think it looks grittier and more industrial. I also like the use of hands on mechs instead of their entire arms being weapons like Exo-Force does.

I think Benk's sig-fig mech contest entry is an excellent example of how to cover the joints. It's one of my favorite mechs ever. Check it out, I think you'll get some good inspiration for joint covers...

One question though. Did you place the fuel tank where it is in purpose? Because I kind of chuckled when I saw it because I could only imagine what it looks like while it's being fueled. It must be a girl mech... :-$

Absolutely stunning X-O

I wish they'd done the Exo-Force mechs like that *y* *y* *y*

I'll make sure to check better that design; wish I could build something like that, but it is not really my style: I'm used to a less heavy design :-$

As for the tank, it's an air tank, like this. I think I stated that much above |-/ >:-(

Now you can't blame me for that erroneus quote from your comic anymore! :-P ;-)

Actually, I already have a work in University, but TLC can have me part-time, if they want. Just imagine: being paid in sets! *wub*

We all live in the yellow sub-

Oh, it is already in my head, but this is a good moc and I like it very much

The arms moving is very nice.

Don't you mean 'horizontal'? X-D

A wonderful mecha, the hidden(ish) blades attached to the legs are very cool, and it certainly keeps that sub feel to it, with the colour, the printed parts, the propellers and the air tank! *y* But maybe some tubing/pipes could add to that. Still, it's a great mech! *y*

Thanks, im glad you appreciate my comment :-$ Whenever I put critisizm or thoughts I always worry the person will take it in a bad way, like I dont like their work - but really its just the opposite, I truely appreciate good thoughts and suggestions, so I just suppose other people may appreciate it aswell :-$

I really do like the work, and as for the hands and wrists being copied from exo force; thats just too darn good of a technique not to copy X-D

And I got a nice kick out of Hincks 'gas tank' comment.. it really must be a female mecha! :-D

I can't believe I missed this one! The beauty of this is undeniably awesome, it's like something I've always wanted to build. The overall mech is gorgeous, I just might have to take apart my Supernove to try something like this! *wub*

The harpoon launcher is great, the missiles just look perfect on this.

Your mech's are truly inspiring LuxorV! Is there a chance you could PM with with some ideas on how to build something like this? :-$

*y* *y* Easily.

Genius design!

Color matching is well thought out and executed.

Pose (frontal) shows very nice overall proportions.

Love the Exo - Force style articulated fingers, ready to squeeze the last bubbling breath from any Minifig foe!

Finally, a real mech (aquazone fan talking :-D ). I like how it just fits so well my favorite theme ! The only letdown is the use of a trans cockpit instead of a trans blue one. BUT I'm just being picky here :-P Great work !

Unfortunately, I already dismantelled it :-| .

Well, I'm a bit busy in this period. But you can PM me any (a reasonable number ;-) ) questions you have, and I'll try to answer asap.

Btw, have you tried to look at my BS account (link in my sign)? [i think you have, but I like to self-pomote my work here and there X-D ].

Woops! I missed this wonder! Sorry luxorV! :-$

Anyway, this definitely has that cool Aquazone vibe to it, the limbs as usual are perfect, and that spear weapon is very cool *y*

The scabbards are a great touch, and the addition of a little lime green makes it so much more. I really like the two propellers at the shoulders too, but my one criticism is that the back looks a bitoff with the rest of the model, what with the large grey cylinder and black slope. Thats about all I dislike about the model though, as always this is another great moc in a cool new direction *y*

I have one request though, could you try to make a non-bipedal mech one day? :-$ I would really like to see how you would do it :-$

Anyway, aquazone mechs ON!

Batbrick is Back! >:-)
