swan45 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) I saw this set in an store next to my house.A week later i buyed it for 92KN(18 USD). This is my review about it. The front of the box. The back of the box The figures are quite OK but ironhook doesnt have a hook or a pegleg(maybe he was on a operation) so its pointles to call him ironhook The equipment looks OK and i like the gun which is very similar to the lego one. The set when builded looks very nice The left side The right side. The back. The pirates. Moving the head to the left revals a cave where you can hide the treasure or the boat and the canoe. The islander is roasting the pirates head. Ups!IT burned a little bit! :-D The captain being eated by the crocodile! :-D Oh my God its king Kahuka!!!! I think enlighten did a good copying of this set :-D :-D Comments are pleased. Edited August 4, 2008 by SlyOwl Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 The set shown at the box seems to differ from the thing you get.. The box art is a just a direct copy of the TLC set!! Enough reason for me not to buy it! Although that first islander's head could perhaps come handy for mime purposes :-P The treasure map and the cutlass are cool too. Infact, the treasure map looks lot more realistic than TLC's. Blue paper.. Naah, I'll stay to real LEGO. Good review nonetheless! *y* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the review. I like the Islander head and shiny weapons but apart from that I think I will pass, and stick with the real Lego model! Is the quality of the bricks good or not, swan45? Quote
swan45 Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the review. I like the Islander head and shiny weapons but apart from that I think I will pass, and stick with the real Lego model! Is the quality of the bricks good or not, swan45? Well,I cant stick to the original because i cant buy things on the internet because i dont have an paypal account or something similar :'-( :'-( (if i had,I would stick to the original) and idont know a store in Croatia (or at least in Split) that sels old lego. And i love pirates even if they are fake enlighten!!! The quality of the bricks is quite good but lego is better. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Urgh, it's not LEGO! :-X Is that legally alowed? It's a direct copy isn't it? Are there more sets like this? Thanks for the review though Swan45! It is a good set and I really liked the Islanders. They always made me happy! :-D ;-) Quote
swan45 Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 There are a lot of sets like that.Il maybe do more reviews like that if i got any other enlighten sets. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 11, 2008 Governor Posted January 11, 2008 I saw this set in an store next to my house.A week later i buyed it for 92KN(18 USD). You've done a good job of this review Mr Swan! KN is the currency symbol for the Croatian Kuna, is it not? I think enlighten did a good copying of this set :-D :-D What did you think of the quality of the pieces? EDIT by Hinckley: I put some lower case letters in the topic title. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. :-$ I share this peeve, but I don't keep it as a pet X-D Quote
swan45 Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 Thanks! This is my fiirst review. Yes KN is a croatian KUNA.How did you know?? Bet you were in Croatia. ;-) The quality of the bricks isnt bad as some say(at least not in this set becasue i didnt have an hard time building it). Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 11, 2008 Governor Posted January 11, 2008 I know because I Googled KN "currency" X-D I reviewed one of these sets not so long ago and I didn't find the quality to be that bad. The mini-figures were a little stiff and some of the colours were brighter but not as bad as many people make them out to be. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Swan45, could you post a picture of the bottom of the baseplate. It seems to be thicker then a LEGO one, and I'm wondering if it is connectable to other pieces at the bottom. Thanks! Dr. Brick Quote
swan45 Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 (edited) Here is the bottom of the baseplate. A little more near the bottom is compatible a little bit with other blocks Edited January 13, 2008 by swan45 Quote
Dr. Brick Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Aah thanks. This looks like the bottom of 50-year old LEGO baseplates. I'll stick with good old LEGO though! Dr. Brick Quote
Kliq Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Oh man the captain's pants are missing. I seriously laughed pretty hard while looking at those pics. How embarassing that he's running around fighting the Islanders in his red underwear. :-$ Maybe he's out to get some of their leaves. :-D Quote
natelite Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Oh man the captain's pants are missing. I seriously laughed pretty hard while looking at those pics. How embarassing that he's running around fighting the Islanders in his red underwear. :-$ Maybe he's out to get some of their leaves. :-D i know. i was laughing the whole time too. red underpants. if the quality is really that similar to lego, then perhaps it will bring some of those really expensive lego MFs down in prices. wonder how well it replicates the shako. :-P Quote
swan45 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 I have some fake shakos and il send some pictures when i make them Quote
swan45 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 So here they are!!(left fake) a little close up(right fake) The back of the hats(left fake) Quote
Joey Lock Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Its alright.. :-/ 1 question: Why is the Captain wearing a thong? :-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 kebab Okay, that was strange! Please don't post irrelevant words like that in the future... |-/ Anyway, I happened to have purchased the real forbidden cove and the fake set looks just like the real one, aside from the thong wearing captain, and rest of the minifigs! I actually like the parrot and shiny weapons though! Quote
swan45 Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 i just wanted to something like refresh this topic Quote
Siegfried Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 i just wanted to something like refresh this topic Well don't. Many of my topics fade from attention faster than I would like... :'-( You could have tried to add something usefull to it. If you can't, then maybe it means that there is nothing left say. Quote
Brickadier General Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I'll add a lil something here. Having bought Enlighten sets before, I'm not surprised that what you get inside the box differs from what's actually inside. However, the minifigs are more apropriate looking than ones in some of the sets I've seen (except for Redbeard in a Thong :-X ). The baseplate with the odd bottom is probably ripped off from another company, and that wouldn't surprise me as they seem to use copies of other "clone brick" company's parts in there sets. I found parts in their military line that are from the Oxford military line. Quote
hollisbrick Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I bought a small ship today by enlighten! I got to say they are a pretty good brand, obviously lego is better but they are good for getting cheap, out of date lego sets Quote
