@fred67 I still have it. It is the bright colored brick with the red stripe in front of any topic you've posted in. Click that and it brings you to the first unread post. If you hover over it, it says "Go to first unread post" or something like that. Was there another place this used to appear?

The way I used to use the forums was to go to "new posts" (now "unread content").  I'm caught up right now, so if that brick is there for search results, I don't see it.

Otherwise, I'd click on the topic and it would take me to the thread.  Intermittently, it would take me automatically to the first unread post, but otherwise the page for the thread had a "first unread post" button that I'd use.

So, in other words, the page displaying the thread (at least the first page), had that button.

It seems like, in order for me to get it to work now, I'd have to visit individual forums in order to click the multi-color brick, when I normally browse pretty much everything with the "unread content" link.  I skip over most of it, but sometimes things in forums I don't normally read catch my eye.

If you are using unread content feeds and so on rather than browsing subforums, then to the left of the thread title in the feed there is either a circle or a star. The star indicates that you have posted in that thread, the circle that you have not. If you click on the topic title, you are taken to the very first post of the thread, but if you click on the icon, you are taken to the first unread post. (Unless a topic has been merged or moved, in which case you are taken to some point way back in the thread...)

It works the same as clicking the brick to the left of the thread title when you browse the forum by category. This functionality has existed for years, yet this question has been asked many times!

However, there is no longer a link INSIDE the thread, so I'd just make it a habit to always click the icon whether you know you've read that topic before or not. If you haven't, you'll be taken to the beginning of it anyway.

Folks,

Just wanted to mention a little issue I have had with the forums since the changeover, which it seems some others are having. In multipage posts, I am unable to change pages. When I click on the next page button, or a page number, it greys out the page, has a loading splash and does nothing else. This happens on chrome on both windows 10 and android for me. It hasn't happened in this forum, but it does happen in the technic forum. I've tried the refreshing trick, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone help? Thanks.:classic:

Hm, interesting. I'm having that problem too, but only when there are a lot of tabs from all across this forum opened. Funny thing is, a refresh with F5 resolves this issue... well, only until you want to go to the next page. Then it all starts again.

By the way: I have observed it over the last days and it really seems to happen in Technic threads only!

Can we not have a wysiwyg editor AND a raw bbcode editor? The current editor sucks for someone who's used bbcode for 15 years. There are so many things this crappy editor can't do, like a proper quote with a name.

The forum doesn't technically support BBcode anymore, though it still supports a few of the tags for now. There is no raw editor to turn on, the software only provides the wysiwyg now.

Then someone made a really bad choice when they picked this software, leaving us with the worst of both worlds; a crap wysiwyg editor and no raw editor.

It had those features when it was chosen a long time. I don't really think it's the end of the world, the editor seems to work decently and quotes do have the name. Maybe you're having trouble on your end for some reason.

Did the "posted (insert date) at (insert time) just become a clickable link, or have I just been previously unobservant?

Not new. It's always been a feature of the forum to link back to a particular comment.

Actually that was not previously clickable- you are right that you could always link back to a post, but previously you would do that by clicking on the post number that would be on the upper right of each post. The "posted xxxx at xxx" wasn't a hyperlink previously. Since post numbers are no longer there, this was their way of preserving that linking feature.

Ok, I wasn't clear about my point of reference. I meant it was always been there since  @VaderFan2187 registered (after the big upgrade).
