Ceroknight Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 On Brickset: "Lego have announced that by 2012 lego batman will return along with the original sets and new sets." Sooooooooo, don't know if it'll be ALL of the original sets but, it definitely seems to hint at the chance of at least SOME of them. *still crossing fingers for a re-release of wave 3* Where? Quote
Ogre Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Where? I couldn't recall where I'd read the info, so I did a Google search on it and that Brickset quote was one of the ones that came up. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Sounds great! But I'm still a bit skeptical... BUT, considering the fact that a new movie is coming, that boosts the possibilities. Edited June 29, 2011 by Parrothead Rasmus Quote

I wouldn't count on that source. The quote is from some Bricklist which just goes on to say "Look at lego batman on wikipedia." And true enough, a claim that Lego Batman would be relaunched was edited to the Wikipedia article by an unregistered editor, unsourced of course, in April and removed in June. If TLC had announced the return of Lego Batman in April, by now everyone and their pet rocks would know about it. Quote
Lance Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I would like to see Spider Man come back. The new film comes out next year so its possible. About Batman returning, I really hope it does. We only ever got 1 Batman set in our house hold. I would also like to see Doctor Who and Halo. Quote

Halo is pretty violent, from my experience. TLG tends to avoid awfully violent themes. And Doctor Who would probably sell over in Europe and not in the states. At least 80% of my friends have no idea as to who or what Doctor Who is. Quote

Not to forget, the MB has Halo and Doctor Who as shown a few pages back has it's own brick-built range.....must not be that good because the ABC shops don't carry it. I guess it's the waiting game to see what Licensed products there will be for 2012. Quote

I think that there is a possibility if they do as LT said and do remakes, but I doubt they'd re release the exact sets. Sure, that would be nice as I missed out on them (other than the Batcave which my brother got - great set !). Although I'm kind of sceptical, I really hope they do re introduce the theme. It had so many great parts and minifigs, and a new one would have even more! Quote
Vindice Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Tron tanked in terms of how they thought it would do in revenue so i seriously doubt we will get a range of that in Lego, although it would look good. Clash of the titans would make a much better range in terms of inspiration and they wouldn't need to license it either! So more profit in the margin. I think the decision to not make LOTR is probably more political than anything. For one thing it has been difficult enough sorting out the rights to the film, if you add a licensing agreement too it will take even longer to sort out. Also, these films are the biggest competition to Star Wars and I can just imagine a rep of George Lucas saying to TLG at renewal time for the license "We'll extend for x amount of years if you steer clear of LOTR" Would love to see it but I honestly don't see it happening. Imagine the sets though! I'd love to see Mass effect as a range but I think it's more likely to fall to MB. Probably a little too violent for kids. Quote
R2F Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I'd really like to see old Cartoon Network shows like Dexter's Laboratory or Samurai Jack. Those shows were really cool. And if people added Gears of War less kids would buy Lego. Though, I do agree with SSBB (Super Smash Bros Brawl) and Gears of War. The other suggestions I had were Mario Brothers, or like a Lego Pets or something like that. ~R2F Quote

Personally, I don't think we need a lord of the rings line, if you weren't in your dark ages for 2007 fantasy era, and you picked up an elf or two from series 3 CM, and you have a decent lego collection, you pretty much have all the elements you need to create your own lord of the rings sets. Also, since castle is always going, it would be hard to market to separate castle lines at one time, but then again, they could do something along the lines of pirates and pirates of the Caribbean., Quote

I wasn't collecting Lego at the time, and there's no way I'll ever pay the aftermarket prices for Batman now. I'd be in for more Batman. And if they were so successful, what's keeping them from making more? Quote
Hoboman Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 The only reason I would like to see a LEGo LotRs theme be made is for the great torsos and weapons/helms/armor that might come from it. But if they do not make one I would be OK. One theme I would like to see visited but know it is a long shot would be an Asian themed line. Temples from Thailand, Himeji Castle etc. Quote
MightyMegs Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 The TRU website just added a new Lego backpack... BATMAN. No pic yet, but this might be a good sign for Batman's return to the brick. Quote

phil skycrawler Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I would really love a Percy jackson and the olympians theme. Just imagine the creatures and styr legs!! Quote
Fallenangel Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 This has probably already been said before, but... I would be interested in seeing a classic Atari/Namco/Nintendo line. Imagine how well creatures from games like Galaxian, Donkey Kong, and Kid Icarus would translate into LEGO... If The LEGO Group raised the standards for their Architecture line and released stuff like this, that wouldn't be too bad either. Quote

Temples from Thailand, Himeji Castle etc. If they make more fantasy elements in the castle line then I'd be fine without a LotRs theme, but you've got it exactly - a LotRs theme would be fantastic for all the great customized pieces. I missed most of the fantasy line, it was right before I emerged from the Dark Ages, but I still feel that there's a lot more they could do. I mean, centaurs for one - hello? How hard can that be? And if they made a 3 headed dog for Harry Potter, why couldn't they do a whole range of mythical creatures? I'd also like an Asian theme that is historically accurate and focuses on buildings. I was hoping for more from Ninjago, but it's been nothing but a disappointment in terms of architecture. Quote
Cwetqo Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) Which would you prefer:DC comics (batman, superman and others) or Lotr (it seems that we will end getting both anyway)? Edited July 6, 2011 by Cwetqo Quote
