Fallenangel Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Pretty sure he meant he's wanted LOTR sets since he was a 15 year old. Meaning in the past tense. 'Am' denotes past tense? Eh, I'm sure there are lots of underage members here... @phil skycrawler: I second the Mario Bros. line... we need some of these in LEGO. Edited July 9, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote
yumiyoshi Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I'd like a One Piece serie. There are boats, minifigs, prisons, castles,..... it would be very very interesting. Quote
deskp Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I would love a theme with Wizard of oz and Alice in wonderland. The BOOKS are in public domain so they wouldnt have to pay licencing fees. We already got A wicth in the minifigure collectibles, so maybe we'll get a tin man and a scarecrow aswell! Quote

Now that's a good idea since there is a new girl theme for next year and hopefully be better than Belville.....sorry I'm not a fan of it. I would like to throw another hat in the ring.....Space Battleship Yamato.....there is talk of an English speaking remake from last years live action film (dam, I wish it was on Youtube ). Quote
perplexingArticulator Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I would absolutely kill for a LEGO take on the MOTHER/EarthBound trilogy. Obviously it's little more than a dream beyond a dream - notwithstanding the unlikelihood of LEGO adapting any game into a line, the series has a history of being stomped on and disregarded aside from its constant presence in Super Smash Bros. Though, dreams are the point here so... The way I see it, sets and minifigs based on the series would be quite easily able to fit in with LEGO City, if with a slightly more 80s vibe. The series is certainly not short on distinct memorable locales which would be nicely adaptable into sets, especially MOTHER 3. Also, I can definitely see the quirky, offbeat range of enemies proving to be fun and interesting for both the set designers to work on and from a consumer standpoint. I can't think of any feasible way Giygas would be able to be adapted in LEGO form aside from a mosaic, but eh. I also quite like the idea of LEGO adaptations of two of the other three Nintendo series of which I'm very fond - Metroid and Fire Emblem would work nicely, though making even an inadequate assortment of minifigs for Fire Emblem or just picking a world within the series to adapt would be quite tricky. That said, I'm more or less convinced that Pokémon, the fourth of my favourite Nintendo series, should probably not see the light of a LEGO line. It'd be an absolute nightmare to give any aspect of the franchise decent coverage, it's pretty much unfeasible to commercially produce sets or minifigs of all 649 or even just the latest 156, and the results probably wouldn't be that great anyway. It's probably better to leave Pokémon consigned to the realm of MOCs. Descending even further into the realm of unlikelihood, into properties which aren't even commercial franchises, I like to think that Homestuck would be a neat fit as a LEGO theme. Many of its key aspects - item alchemisation, the shifting of enemy design based on certain players' choices - would be oh so very appropriate to the construction ideals behind LEGO, though they'd need some reworking to be employable in set form. Also, generally nice potential minifigs and set settings and possibilities abound, like making John's house in such a way that, should you for whatever reason own multiples of the set, it's designed so that multiples can be stacked up to resemble the ever-increasing skyscraper of a house that is Rose's Sburb work on it. SilvaShado Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Now that's a good idea since there is a new girl theme for next year and hopefully be better than Belville.....sorry I'm not a fan of it. I really really hope that they move away from Belville next year. It sucks completely. It has some of the concepts that I want, the more fairy-tale bent, but the execution of it is just all wrong. It needs to be normal minifigure size and range into more colors than purple and pink. If they don't get it right next year, I'll be... Then I'll go make my own fairy-tale sets the way I want them to be. Quote
Hoboman Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Then I'll go make my own fairy-tale sets the way I want them to be. I would love to see what you came up with anyway. Not a lot of Girl targeted MOCs out there. Quote

I don't want to live on this planet anymore. It was an awesome TV show from the 80's, There rebooting it for the youngewr generation though, I think its starting next week on cartoon network, or this Friday. Quote
Hoboman Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 ......but what the heck is thunder cats!? Oh, you just made me feel so very old. Sad thing is, some of us are getting "very old" compaired to some of these "kids". On a more serious note, my seven year old has gotten into the reboot of Voltron and is excited about Thunder Cats. It has been a blast to watch him as a parent going through what I did. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Thundercats......oh, these..... Since it's Time Warner, a possibility in a theme....maybe, but fear they do a Ben10 trick to it though. Quote

While we're wallowing in 80s nostalgia, allow me to second perplexingArticulator's suggestion for a Metroid-themed line. Just imagine... EDIT:Actually, most pre-1990 games would work well as mosaic-based LEGO licenses: Edited July 12, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote

Elander Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Personally, I don't think we need a lord of the rings line, if you weren't in your dark ages for 2007 fantasy era, and you picked up an elf or two from series 3 CM, and you have a decent lego collection, you pretty much have all the elements you need to create your own lord of the rings sets. Also, since castle is always going, it would be hard to market to separate castle lines at one time, but then again, they could do something along the lines of pirates and pirates of the Caribbean., If you see all LEGO LOTR Elf-minifigures, especially torsos/faces/weapons and accessoires for Lothlorien-elves (LotR-theme), Silvan-elves (Hobbit-theme) and other Elve-folks, than you will be thinking that you need these Tolkien-lines. The elf from the series 3 CM would be no comparison. And please forget all LEGO-dwarves and -orcs from the Castle-line. Ok, they are nice, but they are also no comparison. Tolkien-minifigures would be generally some levels "higher" (like Star Wars) as Castle- or Kingdom-minifigures. And no, the Tolkien line would not be the end of the classic Castle line. It would be the same thing like Star Wars and Mars-Mission, Space Police, NASA-Program, Alien Conquest and so forth... And LEGO-bricks? It would be a new theme associated with many really fantasie bricks for Elf- or Hobbit-houses. It would be interesting to build Rivendell or Moria with especially new bricks (allone for those buildings). At the time the LotR-buildings on MOC-pages or flickr looks like a LEGO BlackTron-assembled X-Wing Fighter with many old LEGO classic Space-bricks. Yepp, that is why the Tolkiens-license my absolutely dream LEGO license is. New bricks, finally "Fantasie-bricks", the possibilities would be endless and many many many beauty minifigures. Greetings Elander Quote

I can just see people on here in a couple years showing off there massive orc or elvish armies. Or a full battle scene of the battle for Minas Tirith. They could even use the skeletons again in this line since they were part of the battle for Minas Tirith. Dragons would make their first comeback in about 4 years since the viking theme as the Nazgul. I don't understand why anybody wouldn't want this theme. They could sell all kinds of battle packs for this theme. Edited July 16, 2011 by mobricki Quote

Build these old-timers a Miniland-scale ThunderTank and they might forgive you. * In reponse to mobricki's post, as much potential as a Lord of the Rings theme would have, it may not prove popular among the target market, most of whom have probably not read Tolkien... so there's one reason why it wouldn't be desirable. Of course, that's not to say I wouldn't want it. *That was meant as a joke. But it would still be interesting to see an MOC from you. Quote

It would be perfect their target audience (kids between the ages of 6-14) would be going crazy over the movie and would beg their parents to get them Hobbit or LotR lego sets. The second movie is coming out a year later so they would get at least 2 good years out of the theme maybe even more and kids would love it as well as us adults. Its a win-win situation for everybody. TLG makes a fortune, kids are happy, and we get to finally have LotR minifigs without having to mutilate our current collection.
