TristanJones Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Yep, these are the ones I agree on - old school sci-fi.....but has everyone forgotten the most classic of them all.... THUNDERBIRDS F.A.B. ! F.A.B. INDEED, that line would kick megablocks. Im still hoping one day for SPACE:1999 Eagle One. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hey, I have a question... There's a Lego movie in production as we speak. If Lego makes sets to tie in with the movie release, does this constitute a licensed theme???? Quote
Andonii Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Sorry for being so obvious, but, Lord of the rings. I mean just think of all the elves and the brilliant medieval structures. Edited November 19, 2011 by Andonii Quote
Rune Haako Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) Jurassic Park (When JPIV is released.), they already have the molds from the Dino theme for the dinosaurs. The Last of the Mohicans. (Michael Mann version.) (Not going to happen, but it's one of my favorite movies.) He-Man Edited December 15, 2011 by Rune Haako Quote
Thego Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen would be cool. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 He-Man Perfect, then Robin will have someone else to go clubbing with ! Now, another suggestion from me eh....Sporting Legend's - famous sportsmen/women as a collectable minifig, only problem it would be dearer than Star Wars and add the TRU because-we-are-who-we-are tax ! Flipz Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Star Trek. Not the new movie, and not really the classic stuff either (though the Constitution-Class and the Galaxy-class would be a must anyway). I'd like to see Lego do something for Star Trek like it did with the first wave of Lego Batman, an existing franchise but a completely original storyline. Heck, if they look at the creations on the LU Creation Lab, they've already got LDD designs for about a hundred different sets, of all different price ranges, and plenty of story ideas... Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Star Trek is a nice idea, but vehicles as well as the figures are what children want and Star Trek is not heavily vehicle based. Another suggestion, Classic Sci-fi......Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Captain Video, classic film serials with sick looking classic rocket ships. Quote

Um... what would be the point of paying the licensing fees if they didn't make sets of the existing characters? I enjoy some of the non-mainstream books (The Starfleet Corps of Engineers series is awesome.) but if Lego gets a license they're at least going to stick to known characters instead of creating new ones. Otherwise it would just be Lego: Space Explorers. Quote
Alex the Great Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Well way back in this topic I definately wished for a Lotr line, looks like my dream is probably going to come true! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I'll second Oky on Ratchet & Clank...some neat stuff in those games. My real dream license would be Macross, followed by Transformers. Both of the latter are certainly "dream" licenses. Quote
ScaryScarecrow Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I have divided my 3 dreams into categories. Impossible: The novel I'm writing. Improbable: Gainax Possible: LOTR Quote
Flipz Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Star Trek is a nice idea, but vehicles as well as the figures are what children want and Star Trek is not heavily vehicle based. Are...are you serious? Pretty much the entire theme is nothing but vehicles. (Granted, they'd mostly be at midi scale, but still...) Um... what would be the point of paying the licensing fees if they didn't make sets of the existing characters? I enjoy some of the non-mainstream books (The Starfleet Corps of Engineers series is awesome.) but if Lego gets a license they're at least going to stick to known characters instead of creating new ones. Otherwise it would just be Lego: Space Explorers. The problem is, unless they base the sets off the reboot, there's no "open-ended" storyline for the Lego Club comics/tv specials/etc. like there is for Star Wars. Even more so than SW fans, Trekkies tend to be oversensitive about the history and chronology (and don't even get me started on the "official canon only" vs. "beta-canon (books, games, and comics) is real canon" split). A tie-in with Star Trek Online (which takes place in the "main" universe) would be pretty nice, and with Lego Universe dead there's no reason Lego wouldn't want to support it via tie-ins. Plus, that would give you the "Existing Characters." The thing is, minifig-scale sets of the ships would be just plain too big. A minifig-scale U.S.S. Venture (a small for Trek scoutship) would rival the Imperial Star Destroyer set in size, a Defiant would rival the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, an Akira-class would be larger than the UCS Super Star Destroyer, and a Constellation-class would be taller and longer than a person. A Galaxy-class at minifig scale would likely be too large to fit in a room. (Also, the last two would need upwards of 500 minifigures to be anywhere near accurate.) No, aside from perhaps a generic command bridge, a few generic hallways, and MAYBE Main Engineering, Sickbay, or a Transporter Room, minifig-scale sets won't work, the focus of the line would be midi-scale ships (almost in the vein of Architecture, but cooler and with more playability). Since the focus isn't on minifigs and characters, the few that would be included should be generic characters and aliens that kids can put their own personality on; it's the same reason why Red in Pokemon and Link in the Legend of Zelda are silent protagonists, so the character assumes the personality the player gives them. That's my line of thinking, anyway, make of my insane rambling what you will. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Star Trek is a nice idea, but vehicles as well as the figures are what children want and Star Trek is not heavily vehicle based. Ermmm. what? On the contrary, it's totally vehicle-based; virtually every one of the several different Star Trek series is entirely centered around the voyages of a vessel and her crew, with the exception of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It's profoundly heavily vehicle-based, even more so than Star Wars. The issue isn't a lack of vehicles, but rather that the major ones tend to be so huge - unless sets tended to mostly be specific parts of a ship (the bridge, the shuttle bay, sickbay, etc.), it'd be a theme comprised mostly of sets with three-digit prices in USD. Another suggestion, Classic Sci-fi......Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Captain Video, classic film serials with sick looking classic rocket ships. Yeah, I'd totally love that theme, actually. Quote
sharky Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I would love a Serenity/Firefly theme. Quote
The Crazy One Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 A couple that I would like- Final Fantasy would be fantastic! (see what I did there?) Now, this won't be too popular but I would love a collection theme where you can collect football stars from the European leagues. That would be awesome. Doctor Who of course. Quote

Well, they would be all mid-scale builds except for a shuttle, no star fighters flying around they were like battleships really. Though scenes from the original series would be interesting, like the episode were all the hand weapons were turned into swords or a planet where it was the 1920's earth with gangsters.....Kirk learning about a thing called a clutch ! But while Lego has the Star Wars license I sadly doubt any order pure sci-fi theme might ever appear......one can always hope. Quote
DrWeevil Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I know it's bordering on sacriledge in the Lego community, but I'm so over sci-fi and fantasy based sets - there are just so many other genres and themes out there waiting to be explored! It may be a bit past the 'best before' date on this series now, but The Simpsons could have huge possibilities IMHO... Think of all the new colours... All the minifig possibilities - just try to tell me you don't want Barney Gumble and Mr Burns minifigs! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Well, at least you didn't say Family Guy ! Once I wrote this and I'll write it again......Looney Tunes....especially now there is a new cartoon series of them and as crazy as ever even though it has been updated......Daffy Duck is a hero to me ! Oh, and my wife though sick of my Lego sickness would kill for a Sylvester figure ! Quote
Cammo Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) 2 of my 4 dream licenses have already been fulfilled: Batman & PotC All I want now is 'The Mask' and 'TMNT'/ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/ Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles... The riddler from the new sets reminds me of Donatello somehow Edited December 16, 2011 by Cammo Quote
halomaster96 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I must have Lego Assassin's Creed, then all of my dreams will be complete. Quote
ruboand Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I would like to see a "Back to the future" theme! It would be great(scott!)!! Quote
