Sam892 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 maybe they can buy the Halo license from mega blocks they would probably do it better I agree Lego would do much better but I cant see megabloks losing it. I think at the moment halo is to meagabloks what star wars is to the Lego franchise. I think what will happen now is that Lego will do films and superheroes while megabloks does video games like there doing world of Warcraft next. Back on topic though I would love to see Pokemon become a theme I can already imagine the collectible minifigs having a spin off collectible Pokemon series. It would really fit into the collecting and trading spirit of the franchise. The sets would focus on gyms and important locations like professor Oaks lab, the pokecentre and team rockets hideout. Faefrost Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 1. The Diskworld- a great theme in the castle/kingdom/lotr/hp sort of genre. So many nice humorous medieval buildings and fantasy scenes. anck Morpork, Lancre, city watch, dwarves etc and strongest of all Unseen University, with a full assortment of the faculty. 2.a classic sci fi theme. Stuff like classic Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Maybe a nice huge JuipiterIi play set from Lost in Space. Etc. put some classic ships in minifigs scale in the same range as the star wars stuff. J.V.D. Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Living in Belgium I should of course support a Kuifje (Tintin) line; a lot of potential for that theme. Interesting minifigs, vehicles ranging from classic vintage cars over planes and submarines to moonrockets ; globe spanning locations : from the south american jungles via the north african desert to 1930's china and everything in between. The roots of the Adventurers and Indiana Jones. True, some stuff would already been done more or less in IJ or Adventurers, but I still see a lot of potential for new stuff. Of course, a return of IJ would be welcome to.. fill in gaps left by the missing sets fans hope for but never appeared. Another nice one would be : Trigan empire. Probably unknow for todays kids, but, just as Tintin, it offers a wide range of possibilities. Campy scifi, aliens, monsters and spaceships. Characters and buildings inspired on clasic Roman / Greek empires... There is something for as well historical, scifi as action theme fans. On the other hand, that might just be something against those themes too... they arent realy straightforward / uniform. The lines might confuse some buyers.. Quote
allanp Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) I would love a rollercoaster tycoon liscence. Imagine all the cool coaster track pieces clicking together just like in the game. Also you could have many smaller sets of things like the swinging ship and so on. Really it could be a massive theme. Edited April 13, 2012 by allanp Quote
______ Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Halo would be fantastic, though unsuitable. I would love to see TLC's take on Master Chief and the various vehicles in Halo. In theory, Avatar wouldn't be far out of TLC's ideals to become a theme. I think it's probable that Avatar could become a theme after it's next movie. Though I'm not a big fan of it, but it would have some great sets such as those mechs and the helicopters! I also wouldn't mind a few one-off Nintendo games based sets. Such as Metroid sets and Mario bros sets. Another unlikely, but awesome theme would be Assassins Creed! That would be marvelous! I guess that's what Cuusooo is for This time 2 years ago I would have said "POTC and Marvel please!", then look what happened! Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Indiana Jones again Avatar the last Airbender, again but now with the Legend of Korra. Mortal Kombat Quote
Pennas2000 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Lego WWE. Simple sets: ring, entrance, announcing tables. Belts. Wrestlers. Fans, etc. They've already had a luchadore in CMF so why not John Cena or The Rock? Quote
Iron-Man Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Super Smash Bros. Lots of great opportunities there. Here are some set ideas: Classic Battle Pack: Includes Link, Kirby, Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Samus, and Fox w/ accessories. Hyrule Castle: Includes Link, Zelda, Ganondorf. Final Destination: Includes Mario, Kirby, Pikachu, and Link. Villains Battle pack: Includes Bowser, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, and Meta Knight. Subspace bomb factory: Includes Prime Minister, Fox, Yoshi, Shiek, Peach, and Marth, subspace gaurds Subspace: Includes Taboo, Lucario, Ike, Wario, King Dedede, Luigi, Pokemon Trainer By the way, only real licensed themes belong in this forum. TOTALLY AGREE!!! If LEGO and Nintendo joined forces I am pretty sure my wallet would explode! But I would strangely be ok with that... Quote
Omega X Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) Lego Tintin, is it possible? For those who did not watch the movie "The Adventures of Tintin, Secret of the Unicorn", it tells the story of a young reporter, tintin, who buys a model ship, The Unicorn, not realising that it contains a hidden secret which links back centuries, on what happens on the actual ship itself...He was kidnapped later in the story due to having hidden the scroll that is concealed in the mast and was brought onto a ship. He manages to escape, meeting the ship's captain-the drunken Captain haddock who has the habit of letting loose some of the most interesting curse words I've ever encountered (Eg.Ten Thousand Thundering Typhoons!!!) The mastermind, Mr. Sakerine, found out that the third model ship(Tintin having bought one and he owned one) is in a bulletproof glass case in the palace of the Sultan of Beggar. Having reached there, he uses a very interesting method to obtain the scroll(which includes a voice of 105 decibels and a crank-carious falcon)and escapes. Tintin pursues him. After destroying a dam and flooding the entire city, Sakerine manages to obtain all three scrolls, which, when lined up together, reveals the location of treasure. In the end, Tintin manages to outwit Sakerine and finds the treasure. I am not blessed with the power of telling a 2 hour long movie in a few sentences, so forgive me when some parts don't make sense. please find out more on Wikipedia. Is a Lego tintin theme possible? Voice your thoughts in the comment section please. You're most welcome. In my opinion, it is one of the best movies I have watched. P.S. I've just updated my profile. Feel free to take a look Omega X Edited May 9, 2012 by Omega X Quote
JackJonespaw Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I'd say it's possible. A Lego theme? Probably not. But just one set? I can see that happening. Put the idea on CUUSOO and see what happens. Quote
TAFOL Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) Seeing as Spielberg already promised to make/write a 2nd and a 3rd movie, I wouldn't doubt TLG to cash in on the success. I think it's only a matter of interest in the property on TLG's part. Edited May 8, 2012 by TAFOL Quote
J.V.D. Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 ... only if Lego is prepared to pay for the license.. Which they have done before of course, as well for movies as comics (or at least movies based on comics..) Of course it would hold a great potential, certainly if not only based on the movie but on the entire series of comics. Kuifje (Tintin) travels in his 22 (24) adventures across most of the globe and even beyond , to the moon. So theoretically a great variety of vehicles, (as well cars, planes, trains, ships or even a rocket) ,buildings, ancient temples and landscapes would be possible. Practically I guess it would look like a kind of Adventurers (or IJ /PQ) meets City meets Space meets Pirates mash up with some new minifigures thrown in. So no unknown teritory for Lego, but again.. they ll have to pay a license for this one. And than it will depend on the fact that first the Hergé Foundation has to be willing to grant Lego that license, and that the license will not conflict with other ones (e.g. Meccano has a license for building sets based on the movie). Also Lego could consider the license not interesting for their business.. can they handle it together with the others they have? Is the potentional market big enough? Does sale of one theme not hurt the sale of another? (Castle & Pirates on hold because LoTR & PotC...) Besides, do not forget the fact that, specially in the (older) comics, there are scenes that might conflict with Lego's "moral" standards. (see all the fuss about the recent CUUSOO rejections..). Some comics dating from the 1930's have no problems with showing characters smoking, drinking, shooting/ killing. Critics even claim that some scenes show , according to moderns standards, signs of racism.. One of the reasons why in the animated TV series a bit of "cleaning" was done, I guess. So yes, Tintin has a lot of Lego potential imho, and living in the country of his origin I would love to see this happen, but.. there are a lot of buts.... Quote
the fixer Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Actually, Moulinsart (which owns the rights to Tintin and the other Hergé creations) have already greenlit tintin building sets. Sadly, the licensee wasn't LEGO but Nanoblocks, a Japanese company that produces building sets with bricks four times smaller than the LEGO bricks (if I remember correctly). You can check them out here: http://tintinology.poosk.com/2011/11/15/tintin-nanoblocks/ I'm not sure if Moulinsart'd consider actual LEGO sets if they already sold the license to another company. Anyway, I'd LOVE to see Tintin LEGO one day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Quote

But of course that makes the probability of the comics being turned into a Lego theme smaller again. Would also depend then on the extention of that nanoblock license .. (geographically and in time..). I specially like that submarine they have. I am trying to build one myself,... if I only had more time to spent with my bricks and to finish it... Quote
Cammo Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Still hoping for a TMNT wave (or another PotC wave). Quote
lockdownTF Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 so licenses many I'd like to see let me think: a ghostbusters ecto-1 set for starters featuring ecto-1 with all four ghostbuster minifigs and a storage rack for the proton packs. a brick built ghost trap replica. possibly a technic set with open and close feature? back to the future delorean and locomotive with doc brown and marty might too mature a license for a kids building set but I wonder if lego could do terminator and/or aliens? ripley's power loader vs the alien queen xenomorph queen and facehugger sets would be cool. terminator the massive 4 tracked tank would be awesome along with termibikes the patrol ships and the giant robot that collects humans in salvation. a mad max theme would be fantastic I've always loved the junkyard vehicles they all drive a few of them in lego set form would be awesome. Bilbo Baggins Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I would love a Tintin license. The movie has became one of my favourites of all time. Quote
jedikermit Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Mine would have to be the Muppets (like in my sad CUUSOO proposal here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050 ) or Sesame Street. But I'd want the Sesame Street to be minifig scaled, and not all Duplo-ized. I know both of them are controversial and some people don't like them. But hey, it's my dream. :) Honestly, my DREAM licenses were always Star Wars and DC Comics. And even though I want more DC heroes in the Super Heroes line, having Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman all as official LEGO minifigs is beyond my wildest dreams. Actually, my wildest dreams would include Aquaman. Hence THAT CUUSOO proposal, which is even sadder. ( http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8664 ) There's also Star Trek...but I'm not sure what I'd want to see in that one. With LEGO's Euro-roots, I'm really surprised there hasn't been a Tintin at some point... Quote
Faefrost Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) I would love to see a "Classic SciFi" type line. Not so much a single large license, but a series of smaller ones that would allow them to do some onsies and twosies of some classic stuff and have it blend with their existing materials. Say a Glen Larson license that allows for a Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper, A classic Cylon Raider, and a Buck Rogers Thunderfighter. or/and an Irwin Allen based license that would get us a nice big Lost in Space Juipiter 2 (with full Robinson Family, Robot and Dr Smith), A Chariott set and maybe a small Space Pod set, A Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Seaview and Flying Sub, Maybe a Land of the Giants Spindrift (ok maybe a little obscure for Lego). or an NBC Universal license that would include stuff like a Nightrider Kitt and support tractor trailer. Just a blanket series that lets them do 2 or 3 of these at a time, maybe even as exclusives. Lego is I believe the first company since classic Mego to hold the licenses to both Marvel and DC Superheroes in the same base product line, to produce toys or goods that can interchange and play with each other. Extend that level of cross compatibility to other subjects. Oddly I don't think a Star Trek license would work well as a Lego line. There just aren't that many clearly recognizable or repeatable places that would make decent sets. we would get "Enterprise Classic Bridge with minifigs, Enterprise D bridge with minifigs, Voyager bridge with minifigs, Enterprise NX01 Bridge with minifigs, Ooo Klingon Bridge with minifigs" See where I am going with this? The ships themselves don't lend themselves well to minifig scale swooshable playsets. Some of the core cost saving secrets that kept the various Star Trek shows in production for so many series and years, things like the transporters, or fixating on the bridge sets, works against them in this regard.
