2467 pieces.  That's a very doable number for a UCS set at $300.

The final part count ended up being 2493 :classic:

That's why I want to build yours.  The "instructions" are great!  Just need to come up with the parts list and I'm doing it.  I'm not good enough to come up with all the internal structure on my own or at least I don't have enough time with a 6 and 9 year old running around the house!

I have a parts list for the model, but it is for a slightly altered version of the AT-AT in the photo-instructions. That's also the reason why I haven't made the parts list public yet, I don't want to create any confusion (my parts list doesn't work with the available photo-instructions and my digital instructions aren't done yet).

If you want the parts list, you can send a PM, or wait a few days. I think (hope) I can get the instructions done at around the end of this week. :classic:

I would love a parts list. I'm willing to slap down 300 on building this beauty.

My $300 figure was not an estimate.  I was just pointing out that LEGO could very easily offer a set with fewer than 3000 pieces for $300 in the UCS line.  This would make a glorious 40th Anniversary set!

As I've previously said, this is the first MOC I'd ever actually pay to get the instructions of!

Very nice moc!!! :) I would like to ask how tall is the modified at at?

According to my software, it's 45 cm high, but I don't know how accurate that is.

Well, even better: they'll be entirely free :classic:

If everything goes well, the instructions will be finished somewhere this weekend. It'll take a couple of extra days for the parts list to be accepted on Rebrickable.

Awesome.  I'm looking forward to beginning the process of gathering parts.

Professional-quality instructions by legolijntje are now available (assuming I uploaded everything correctly) for free download.  Link:  http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/raskolnikov/plus-size-at-at

There's a parts list in typical LEGO format at the end of the instructions.  Working on uploading to rebrickable as well.

Let us know if there are any issues with the files/instructions or the build -- can't wait to see someone else build one!

WOW!  This is incredible!  The instructions look great!  I can't wait to build this!  Thanks so much for all the effort you guys put into this project so we can all enjoy this AT-AT MOC!!!

I can't believe how fast you got that done.  It looks great!

Very generous of the two of you to do this.  Now I get to spend most of tonight doing the bricklink challenge :D

Is there an LXF of this for a bricklink want list?

and.... perfect instructions!!!! thank you so much!

There's an option on the rebrickable website that lets you export to a bricklink wanted list.  (just discovered that myself)

This is such a perfect size and level of detail. Whilst I'd love to have the space and budget to put together a Cavegod AT-AT, it's pie in the sky at this stage. This one is EXACTLY what I think TLG would produce for an official UCS set!

Between the excellent design, and the superb instructions, you guys deserve a huge thanks for sharing this with us all!

Thanks all! Great to hear you all like it.
It would be great if you'd give us a 'like' on the Rebrickable MOC page, to try to prove that for once a non-Technic moc can win the 'Top MOC competetion' on Rebrickable.

@broomhandle: there is no LDD file, but as said Schneeds, you can export the parts list on Rebrickable to a variety of formats, including Bricklink.

I placed my orders--it only took two.

The vast majority of the parts are quite common (another excellent design feature).  The 5x5 Scala in LBG (6942) seems to be the rarest part and is quite necessary.  The 4x4 Round with 4 Side Holes (6222) can be any color which can save some money.

With shipping it came out to be about 10.5 cents per piece. Not bad at all for a moc of this size.  If you already have Lego's version it should be considerably less from the look of it.

@Schneeds

I just saw the images of that room in your signature. That's an epic room, I love it!
Really cool to have that home-cinema decorated with those huge Star-Wars models. It also really shows the size of some of those UCS models.
Will the AT-AT get a place in there too?

Glad to hear it -- I'm also hoping it might get a place in that Death Star room of yours.

And yeah, a lot of the parts definitely are pretty common, which is kind of a side effect of building with what you have on hand (especially when you're thinking of building a second one for yourself).  I also tried to preserve my precious supply of expensive plates.  I bet I have 100 4x6 dbg plates on hand and they're dirt cheap, so I used as many of those as I could.

Also, if Scala dishes become even rarer, I do think the way Mink66 built the cannons on his modded AT-AT (he posted it earlier in this topic) look pretty good -- so that'd be another option.

Also, what is the size of this beast? to build it is one thing.. but to store it takes space.

The software says it's 45cm high, 44cm long and 15.5cm wide, but I don't know how accurate that is. @Raskolnikov should be able to confirm (or correct) the dimensions.
