Posted January 13, 200817 yr Hi there. Another recruit. I've come here by way of classic castle, where I've been for some time. I left my Dark Ages around Christmas 06 thanks to a wonderous experience of Munich at Christmas-time, including fantastic toy departments in department stores, with great Lego City vehicle sets like the days of old, and huge amazing Lego dioramas and train layouts. I'm currently working on my first proper AFOL MOC, a rock island fortress (I did make some custom train models from the Hobby Train over Christmas too, but solely using parts from that set). My Lego interests in order are Castle, City/Town and Space. I also have most of the Western theme which I consider pretty neat, and Ninja. I also have many Harry Potter sets because I a) like the books, b) like some of the sets, c) like the brick selection, minifigs and parts and d) got them cheap on ebay. In Castle, my favorites are: Lion Knights (the axe crests), Robin Hood, Black Falcons, Black Knights, Dragon Knights. I don't care much for the Royal Knights or the Bat Lord ones, and I really don't like the KK ones. In City: I actually like the recent sets more than many older ones, though some old sets are favorites liek the Restaurant, Pizzaria, Vacation Hideaway. In Space: M-Tron, Black Tron II, Space Police II, Ice Planet, Spyrian are my favorites. I do like classic Space too. I intend to get some UFO sets in the future, and I've no opposition to Insectoids. I'm not that pushed about Mars Mission. I don't like Fleshies, but I'll still get sets with them and use them alongside yellow guys (just ignore the colour difference). I think that's enough info to be going on with!
January 13, 200817 yr Let me be the first to welcome you to this fantastic place we know as Eurobricks! :-) You seem to be a nice fellow, and look forward to seeing youre Mocs and some posts from you around the board. Hope to get to know you better soon, seeya round ;-) *y* Make yourself at home. (As much so as possible on an internet site)
January 13, 200817 yr I call being second!! Hello BrickZone! That's funny, there's a mod here who's website is BrickZone.net I hope you like it here! *sweet*
January 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the replies! I hope the mod doesn't mind my nick! I've been using it for a year or so on CC and it's based on my non-Lego nick.
January 13, 200817 yr I don't think he'll mind; He's a nice guy, and if anything, I personally would take it as free advertisement? :-P
January 13, 200817 yr Welcome! :-) But dude, SPYRIUS! Do you like Exploriens then? Be sure to visit us Pirates - we not all that different from Castle after all! But definitely much better. :-D SlyOwl Edited January 13, 200817 yr by SlyOwl
January 13, 200817 yr Author Oh yeah, sorry, forgot about the Pirates/Soldiers theme; I'm a fan of that too - the Imperial Port was the jewel in the crown of my collection back in the day. In my modern collection, Black Seas Barracuda is similarly a jewel, although there are now many other competitors like Caf
January 13, 200817 yr I've been using it for a year or so on CC and it's based on my non-Lego nick. Hello, brickzone ;-) I would say "nice to meet you" but that would be technically incorrect as we've already met at CC! So let me say I'm glad to bump into you here. *sweet*
January 13, 200817 yr I'm outside Dublin! Here be dragons! Calvin, is there any kind of Irish Lego fan group? Also, what do you think about the fact of so few toy retailers here now? A whole bunch of Toymaster stores are shut now too, so mostly only Smyth's and World of Wonder left, along with lesser Lego sellers Argos and Art & Hobby. Outside Dublin! Tut tut... *sad* There are some people from Ireland on Eurobricks, and a few have tried to set up some sort of Irish LUG - dont believe it came to anything yet, you could as Nathan as I believe he was trying most to set it up. Either way, people should have a get together sometime, for some drinks or something.. The only 2 shops in Dublin I know are Smyths and Toymaster, its sad indeed. I just got my first order from www.lego.com (bricks and pieces).. I dont know what World of Wonder and Art & Hobby are located?
January 13, 200817 yr Author There is no longer a World of Wonder in my area either; but they are one of the toy chains in Ireland nevertheless and have various stores around the place. Art and Hobby (branches) aren't a toy shop per se, they stock arts and hobbys/crafts as the name implies; Lego manages to just fall into the latter category. They have a decent enough selection, but unlike Smyths, at higher than S@H prices. Smyth's sometimes manage to beat S@H! Unfortunately Smyth's had no Castle '07, as Argos had the exclusive for the theme despite only selling three sets. My orders to S@H have mostly been large ones due to the high shipping for Ireland. Yes, I do remember Nathan talking about getting something organised; he was in contact with me on Classic Castle. Edited January 13, 200817 yr by brickzone
January 14, 200817 yr Welcome to EB, Brickzone! I've seen you around c-c a bit, and always gotten some amusement at the nick, as already mentioned Hinckley's site is Brickzone.net. It's also a site where a lot of our exclusive info and some really great reviews are from, you might enjoy checking it out :-D Nice to see you here, enjoy the forums :-)
January 14, 200817 yr Welcome to Eurobricks! *sweet* I must confess that when I saw your username I PMed Hinckley about it but he assured me that you had been using the name for a while. :-$ On the positive side, this has to be the fastest time that someone has recieved a title in! X-D But having got Holiday Train and Hobby Train half price on S@H, along with the cheaper plastic track, I may be hooked! Me too! That was such a bargain! *wub*
January 14, 200817 yr Welcome, he-who-shall-not-be-confused-with-the-other! *wacko* Enjoy your stay and may it be a permanent return to the land of LEGO, we need all the friends we're fortunate enough to find! :-)
January 22, 200817 yr Hey and welcome to EB. Good to bump into a castle fan beyond CC. I'll get back to work on an Irish LUG as well, just overworked and under-payed at the moment X-D ... God Bless, Nathan
