wesker Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Arkham Asylum looks great. I'm glad they went with a completely different design style to the UCS version. Not sure I really like the minifigures though. Riddler and Harley look to be worthy updates and I like Ivy's new hairpiece, but the rest just aren't doing it for me. Just a bit too different to whats come before rather than the definitive versions I was hoping they'd be. The Batcave looks decent. Not the best they've done yet not the worst. Just another release. I do like the rack with all the Batsuits and the boat has a very 60s-ish vibe to it, but my favourite part has to be the new Duckmobile. It looks awesome! Can't wait to get Alfred, Penguin and those penguin minions. Quote

I think they are awesome but ofcourse the design on the sets could be a bit better. Like on the Arkham, that it doesn't just look like a big wall but it is hard to say more when I haven't seen the other side of it. Nyt the minifigs are totally awesome and that is the biggest reason why I will be getting the sets. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Things, I just noticed: Penguin and the gold batman have arm printing. Penguin has the same color head as the ice queen from series 16. The gold batman also has a double colored cape with glittery gold on the inside and black on the outside. Boxing batman has dual molded legs. All the villains in jumpsuits have leg printing. Harley has dual molded legs. Also, those fists on the Mr. Freeze mech are perfect for Kamala khan. Quote

What is it about these sets that draws me towards them. They are truly spectacular. Makes me curious what Lego is gonna do for Ninjago down the road... Quote
strangely Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Awesome sets. Batcave is a bit underwhelming, I might just pick up the minifigures. Vehicles are meh. The cave itself is a little bare. Love Mr. Freeze. Kind of wish his head was white though. Granted the proper dome makes up for everything. I like the wall build, it's so simple, but it just looks nice to me. That Arkham though. It's so good, it's so much more fleshed out than the previous versions. It looks like there's a decent amount of interior space. It's actually kind of for the better this is coming along now, I can convert the old one into the GCPD instead. Those minifigures are so gloriously awesome though. I love what they did with all of them, best part is that most of them are new and unique. That Harleen Quinzel is plainly awesome, I mean the dual molding and the new bun piece in a new color, plus the detailed print. I am just blown away by the effort and the detail. From the mini builds to the minifigures, it just works for me. Quote

makoy Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 As for someone who doesn't collect superheroes sets I think they are okay sets. Not good... Not bad.... Just okay. If I judge them by TLM sets standards, I don't get the mix-and-match/crossover style thing that Emmet and friends had in those sets but I think this LEGO Batman movie will not traverse different themes but instead traverse different periods and universe in Batman/DC. I may be the unpopular opinion here, but I do wish Lego would stop adapting so much of the recent Penguin stuff to reference Batman Returns. I am not very fond of that movie, especially the way it took such out-there liberties with all of the central characters (Devito's Penguin is more in line with Killer Croc, for crying out loud!!!), and since it's dark enough AND not recent enough for most kids to have any desire for it, it just feels more like the designers reusing their favorite source again and again. If there had only been one duck-thing in the sets, sure. But this will be the third time fairly recently that Penguin is being associated with ducks! I do like the robo-penguin thugs, which are nice and different enough from BR's actual rocket-birds, and the duck build is amusingly a literal "duck boat," but I do hope this wave is the last we'll be seeing of this treatment. Give Penguin his submarines, or the Iceberg Lounge, or any number of modern inspirations, but please no more Batman Returnsing. Rant over. I am looking forward to purple boxing gloves! Also, new Arkham could pair nicely up across from the previous one, is you did a game-inspired setup with multiple buildings built at different points in the Asylum's history (assuming, of course, you had room to set up and display that much at once). I hope we get to see a full purple Catwoman suit, too, as I've been hoping for one since playing the original Lego Batman game as a kid. Does anyone else think Barbara looks kind of like a detective from that picture, or is that just me? Quote
Borex Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 That head of Mr. Freeze is also very useable to make an Abe Sapien (Hellboy). Quote
Legoman123 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Well I honestly think that's the best Arkham Asylum set there's been! So that is deffinitly going to be a day 1 pick up for me. I just hope that the interior has focused a little bit more on cell space more than anything. I do however think it's going to be the most prison type set we've seen, from the looks of it we get a 'mini cafatiria' and a bench press. As for the Batcave it seems to be not the worst one we've seen but defiantly not the best either. I do think I'll pick it up still as I haven't had one since 2011. The Mr Freeze set looks average to me. Could someone clarify if there's a mini figure you can take out of the mech? Quote
LegoShroom Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 So batman's weapon in the arkham asylum set is made up of a red camera and a magnifying glass with a bullseye printed on it. That's... unusual. Quote

Agree. The last one had a more sinister and dark vibe, which works better for the asylum 1 hour ago, Ashnflash said: The Tim Burton Penguin was extremely pail and ghostly white. Does anyone else think Barbara looks kind of like a detective from that picture, or is that just me? Batman Returns is one of the best batman movies outside the dark knight trilogy. And it features two great villains. And what we ever know about the penguin comes strictly from that movie. So, it makes perfect sense for the lego designers to take cues from that movie whenever they are dealing with penguin. In fact, I will encourage them to Batman returnise the future sets. There are so many classic scenes from that movie that can turn into great lego sets. Quote

Anonknee Muss Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Did anyone notice the orange utility belt piece on the cat woman minifigure in the arkham set? I sure did. I'm also sure this will be useful for making purist customs of other superheroes (which is something I don't do). Also the new hair piece for two-face looks really good and the new piece for poison ivy as well 11 hours ago, Ashnflash said: That's right I am hoping for a full Billy Dee Williams Twoface character. benderisgreat Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) What's great about new Batcave is that there's room to store other batman suits from Minifigures series, so you can display you favorite Batman minifigures . And Batpack minifigure is just gorgeous! Edited October 5, 2016 by benderisgreat Quote
GeekByKnight Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The more I look at these sets, the more disappointed I am. And now I know why. Watching the trailer, the designs in it look dramatic and stylised: but these look kinda... generic. They don't match the style of the first two sets they revealed. I dunno, maybe I'll warm to them. BrickRapper Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) I have a lot of things to say. Here I go. I would appreciate it if you read the whole thing. 1- Is the new batcave an update of the old one? This Batcave is very similar to the last one. In this one there is a costume changer on the right (you can store Bruce when Batman is out). There was one in the old one as well. They also made another small bridge system and a prison cell. The bat computer is on the centre shelf as the last bat computer. It's like to me as they have made an update to the second batcave with four of the same features. I personally like the old duck boat better. Also is it just me or does penguin have a glow in the dark head. 2- Every Arkham villain will be in another set with their costume. This is what I think or else that would be a big disappointment. If you guys are wondering why. It's a marketing tactic. If some one wants the majority of the. Minifigures they will just purchase the Asylum. But since you only get the heads, they have to purchase all the other sets (or brick link). Funny think is, I asked my father if I could have the Asylum for my birthday. He responded by saying "don't you already have that. Is on the dining table right?". So my father can't tell the difference between the two sets at a glance! 3- The Mr freeze set was originally a juniors set. This makes a lot of sense because there is another mr freeze juniors set coming out soon. They probably had to decide between e two. Then they realised that TLBM need a mr freeze set so they just put the back build in it. 4- CMF. How many variants Someone said that there are 5 more spaces on the clothes rack thing in the batcave. If there are 20 Minifigures in the series and some one said that half of them are variants. That leaves 10. Maybe they are wrong and there are only 5. Or the costume changer would look silly with the big gaps if someone didn't get the remaining variants. 5- Different sets release dates. I personally think they are releasing these sets first so people buy these sets before they buy the smaller ones. I think large Lego sets have not sold so well in the past. (My target (in Australia) still has a few batcave (1966)). They are placing the Mr Freeze set to balance it out. Thanks. I am a really big DC fan. I have every single set from 2011 to preset and I have recreated SDCC exclusive and TRU builds. Edited October 5, 2016 by BrickRapper Quote

I may have misunderstood what you are saying but I'm pretty sure that the Mr. Freeze juniors set is still coming out, I mean who says we can't have both? Also the new Batman Movie sets look good, Arkam is superb, the Mr. Freeze set is great, (I don't like freezes head though) and the Batcave is mediocre, it looks unfinished and the minifigure selection is kind of poor.
