Upon the request of my daughter, I started making a bakery modular based a little on the Friends Bakery set. The over-all building is 3-layer cake with the bakery on the ground floor and a 2-level residence comprising the 1st and 2nd floors where an AFOL happily lives.

looks really good. lots of great detail. would love to see it built (if you ever get the parts).  my only suggestion would be to angle the main door, but still very nice

I think this build was inspired by 41006 Downtown Bakery as the entrance looks similar. This could explain why that door looks the way it does.

You are correct. The door to the bakery is based on the 41006 entry.
