Posted November 15, 20168 yr I bought some physical bricks and am currently modeling in LDD to export as .ldr to .obj for later use in animation in Maya. There are some parts that came out recently that doesn't exist in LDD (example: 4529239) so I contacted LEGO support and got this response: "I do apologize but out LDD program does not include every part. There are several parts that are not included and because we are no longer updating or supporting this game, we do not anticipate that we will be adding any more. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this causes." Is there any way to import those parts into LDD?

November 15, 20168 yr Like said above, unfortunately there's no way to import parts into LDD. As for 4529239, looking at BrickLink it translates to a 1x1 Cone, which is indeed in LDD. Have you switched over to Extended Mode? That'll give you access to all the bricks in LDD

Yeah it's weird. this was from their official online support chat. multiple sources said it's officially defunded and discontinued back in January 2016 when it was v4.3.8...
November 21, 20168 yr There *is* a way to add custom part but it is not supported or endorsed on this forum because LDD is supposed to be closed. If LEGO were to open up LDD and offer detail on how to create and add custom part like LDraw does, this would really open up possibilities including getting oh about the first 30 years worth of discontinued parts added to LDD. Early Technics can be done (1xN plates with holes at end for example), Monorail sets, early motor stuff, etc. And the sets in LDD thread would really explode with about 5,000 new sets that can be done. Until then, all we can do is dream and keep pestering in most wanted part for LDD thread.
