It looks believable at a glance, but plenty of high quality CG renders have been made by diligent fake leakers before. And if you look closely, the errors become apparent:

Wario seems to be missing a right pupil, Mr.Game&Watch's arm extends into Wario's character box, this graphical mess up and Ness' shirt is lacking a detail that has been on his character model since the orignal N64 Smash.

I found none of those mind you. That's all GameFAQs. I'm 99.9% sure that we are looking at a fake. Also:

The guy in the jacket is Shulk, from the critically acclaimed RPG Xenoblade. Incidentally, he is the only character that I would be interested in out of this group. He's actually my second most wanted character.

That Duck Hunt character is awesome though .

As long as Ness, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf and Wario return, I'm all good. Wouldn't they make Dr. Mario an alternate costume, this is the only thing pointing out that the image is fake to me. Very nice roster if it turns out to be the real deal. The character art does seem all new to me.

One other thing the images misses: the Mii fighter?

The origin of the leak includes a screen that shows a Mii Fighter/Character select menu. By the looks of it, due to the wide customization of the Mii Fighters, they require their own character select menu. This is still a leak though. So we'll just have to wait and see for sure.

There's also a tentative list of DLC characters...

Lucas, Wolf, Snake, Ice Climbers, and Chorus Men (from Rhythm Heaven)

I, again, recall an official source saying that there would be no DLC, but, again, I can't find a direct source.

Shulk is great. My second most wanted character, who I thought didn't have much of a chance got in. But man... Duck Hunt Dog, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, Wii Fit Trainer, Lucina, Dr. Mario, Pac Man, Rosalina, Villager, Little Mac, Dr. Mario.

There have never been this many characters added that I either don't care about, or just flat out don't like. This is nothing but selfish whining but I had such hopes for the roster this time around.

Oh, and I'm not fond of Rosalina, either. It sucks that Dr. Mario and Rosalina are in and Paper Mario as a character isn't.

But like you said, it's your personal preference.

We may have evidence that all of these images are legit.

Let me start by explaining it like this:

There were three leakers involved in these leaks. Below is a list of who provided what:

-Leaker 1: Duck Hunt/Ness closeup & Top/bottom roster screens

-Leaker 2: Shulk Closeup, stage select, Dr. Mario closeup, Mii Fighters/Character select menu

-Leaker 3: Team Battle victory images.

Leaker 1 says that he/she is neither involved, nor do they know who the other two leakers are.

That means that we have two sperate sources giving us the same info.

Of course, nothing stops a person from lying, so whether this is officially proven remains to be seen.

I shouldn't have grouped Dark Pit, Lucina and Dr. Mario in with the others. Same as you, they are the three that I just flat out don't like. I mean, in the same game that introduces alt costumes, they're adding three more clones that could have perfectly functioned as alt costumes? And one was brought back from the dead! I just don't get it.

It's not that I dislike the rest of the newcomers, but I'm just not particularly excited for them based on who they are alone. If this roster ends up being real, Shulk will be the one and only character who fits that bill for me. (Palutena comes close, she seems to have an interesting personality. I still need to play KI Uprising)

Rosalina's move set is why I don't mind her inclusion too much. A puppeteer character is something Smash hasn't had yet. I think Robin deserved a spot. I was initially disappointed by Ike's return, but I liked what they did with his model.

But, the leaker said that these aren't all of the characters. (I think? There is so much stuff flying around the boards I can't keep up) So I'm still holding out for K. Rool. Mewtwo and Ridley too.

Duck Hunt is insane enough for me to be highly interested in. How would they be playable? I want to find out.

Though Ridley and K. Rool seem out... I can't have everything I want. Honestly if this roster is true there are like 53 characters and I'll be happy enough.

Nope. There are absolutely zero legal issues. Nintendo owns 100% of everything DK related. K. Rool and a ton of Kongs showed up in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast on the Wii. K. Rool also showed up in Mario Super Sluggers.

I've wanted K. Rool since before Melee. I really hope he gets added this time. While I like Fire Emblem, it having twice the representation as the DK series (a cornerstone in gaming) in Smash 4 is just seems weird.

It's a very awesome nod to Metriod Zero Mission. She dons her "Justin Bailey" outfit (Zero Suit) as fans tend to call it.

It has caused a lot of controversy over her over-sexualization, a discussion which is better suited for a forum other than Eurobricks as they tend to get heated really fast.

I may not know who this Shulk character is, but I have to agree with the general consensus that he is the character to get most excited about of these new characters revealed in the leaks. Saying that, Duck Hunt will be quite a fun and interesting character, I'm sure. Doctor Mario seems an odd choice, if not only because he was dropped from the roster previously. I agree with others about Dark Pit: surely that could just be an alternate costume rather than an entirely new character? If Bowser Jr is a legitimate character, that will also be interesting.

And I'm so glad of the confirmation that Meta Knight will be returning and that he will be virtually unchanged from Brawl. I loved using him in Brawl and always did quite well with him, so it's good to see him unchanged from before. Not only that, but it also means that I have one less character to get to grips with when I get this game.

Our leaker strikes again!

Regarding Dark Pit. To put it simply he's a flawed clone of Pit made from the wish granting powers of the Mirror of Truth (this all occurred in Kid Icarus Uprising. This is not a major spoiler ). In the game, Dark Pit's attacks are much more damaging than Pit's. Dark Pit can also can fly, unlike Pit who needs assistance from the gods.

Dark Pit commonly wields the weapon fittingly named the Dark Pit Staff, an item that works as a moderately strong club, as well as a sniper rifle.

Regarding the fact that Pit's abilities in Smash are centered around his blades (the Palutena Bow, as they are collectively called. He also wields the Upperdash Arm for his side special attack in new Smash), and due to the outrageous amount of weapons to choose from in Kid Icarus Uprising (the Dark Pit Staff being the most likely), Dark Pit has the potential to be his own separate character who, despite looking like a clone, could have his own style of play that shows little similarity.

EDIT: After looking at the Dark Pit Screenshot from our new set of leaks, he is very clearly holding the Dark Pit Staff.

Lots of leaks. I wouldn't believe anything about the characters NOT SHOWN until we see something. Especially with a lot of proven imposters running around.

99% chance this other stuff is real though. If not then bravo to the really GREAT leaks.

At first my reaction to Bowser Jr was "meh" but I do look forward to the potential for Koopaling alts (rumor with no pictures). The fact that the clown car is weirdly grounded is... odd. The thing can fly. What is it damaged? I guess Charizard can fly though too :P.

Duck Hunt is my new favorite newcomer (if this is all true). Freakin' love it.

Ganondorf is horribly disappointing. STILL a clone? Come on! He is in so many games and has so many potential moves! There's no excuse for him not being unique!

And a lot more clones. Stawp. STAWP! No more clones! Get rid of them! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Still overall I'm positive about the game :P.
