Sariel Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I have a soft spot for the original TRON movie, seeing as it's exactly as old as I am ;) So it was my goal for a long time to build the iconic Light Cycle, and with the help of some custom lighting I finally have a working model: Photos & some reading: http://sariel.pl/2016/12/tron-light-cycle/ Quote
Beck Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Despite never having seen the movie, I imediately recognized your model. I love the pulsating core, however, I'm not exactly sure how it works. Do you have any photos of that area specifically? Quote
Sariel Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Not really. It's just a ring with black bars attached to it, rotating in front of a 4x4 cylinder that holds the LED tubes. Since the bars extend over the cylinder and partially obscure it, they create the pulsating effect as they rotate. Quote

Leonardo da Bricki Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Been wanting to see the finished thing, excellent work! I watched the original movie not long ago, this is a great representation of the light-cycle. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I like specially the Tron player's disc on top of the tank . Just joking Sariel and the concept and model is extreme cool Quote
Steph 104th Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I've been waiting for this one(now we wait for that Huayra). It looks fantastic and very true to the original. Quote
dr_spock Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Nice. I like the effect. Has it been 34 years since TRON was released? Quote
Lox Lego Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Very original design. I am a huge fan of this build. I love the blacked out ride with blue light. Great work! Quote
