The Maestro Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) From city to city the arms master wanders, selling his wares to whoever has the coin. It is well known that the master forges a weapon like no other. Strong and reliant, a sword would last you through an age. So when Aimsithe passes your cottage be sure to purchase at least a knife, for you won't regret it. CCC XIV - Traveling salesman. Ugh I though this would be an original idea but Jaka Kupina bet me to it D: Oh well. Just a simple build that took me way to long but I tried out a new base style which I was pleased with. My next build is almost finished and should be done this week( if im not to lazy that is :P) Hope you enjoy. Some parts of the edit are terrible - sorry :P Edited December 11, 2016 by The Maestro Quote
Legofin2012 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Very nice, the wall looks really old and crumbly, and the well is nicely done too. The arrow signs are a nice touch as well, just not sure about the tree on the wall, or maybe it's just rather tall behind the wall Quote
TitusV Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 You can be really proud of that base, it looks great! Also congratulations on the well, I find them very hard to get so small! Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Very nice smaller build, Maestro! The wall looks great, and the irregular base is lovely, with the dirt and grass going all the way down. I have several nitpicks here, though. I do not really like the tree; the foliage part is fine, but the trunk is grey flex tubing, not brown, and it is way too slender to have grown up on the other side of the wall instead of on top of it (which makes one wonder about the maintenance level of the wall, if there are trees growing in it). I would recommend getting some brown flex, and using several tubes together in the style of DC to make a small, shrubby tree. Beyond that, though, I guess a few more 1x1 rounds in the road might be nice, though it looks fine now. Nicely done! Quote
Grover Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I, too, really like the base. I struggle a lot with making vegetation and paths that look realistic, and this one looks great. Nice to have some of that dark tan! Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Very nice build, the wall texture looks great! So is the little well and I like the activity you've added with the various minifigures! The tree sticking up back there looks a little strange though... where is it growing from? Behind the wall I suppose, but how come such a thin stem is able to support it that high? And why doesn't it have some lower branches too? But other than that it looks really good! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Nifty little well design! Though it does seem a little hard to get water out of Excellent wall texture, and I like how you have the boys play-fighting Quote
Blufiji Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Nice ground and wall texturing/patterning. The irregular base works well here, as do the color choices. Quote
Slegengr Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Interesting build, Maestro! The wall texturing is great along with the terrain! I quite like that small well, though (as SK mentioned) it seems the bucket will not fit into the well. The signpost and boys play-fighting really add to the scene! I also think the tree is unusual in that location, as it would be odd on top of the wall and seems to be too thin to be tall enough to be planted behind the wall. Some trees do have gray bark, so that color could be fine, though in this particular build the light gray tree trunk would blend with the wall, so I would recommend a different color. Using the ground falling away as a border to your build is an interesting idea and well done! Quote

The reason its so small was the lack of peices, so im lucky it turned out so well (pun intendid) On 12/12/2016 at 7:58 AM, Henjin_Quilones said: Very nice smaller build, Maestro! I would have died to get a few brown flexitubes for this but unfortuantly I didn't have any so... oh well maybe next time I was all out of 1x1 rounds but im going to do a bulk order soon so that will take care of that. Really appreciate the advice. On 12/12/2016 at 7:59 AM, Grover said: I, too, really like the base. I struggle a lot with making vegetation and paths that look realistic, and this one looks great. The wall texture was just improving what I have been doing recently and the two boys fighting were the first things I built On 13/12/2016 at 2:24 PM, Blufiji said: Nice ground and wall texturing/patterning. LittleJohn Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Excellent build here, Maestro You're wall texturing keeps improving, and I like the little details here, like the sign post. The well, SNOT base design, and weapons cart are all superb too Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Great stuff, I really like al the small details you've put in there like the well and the road sign! Quote
