Darth_Legois Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 All the new Agents sets - including 8636 and 8637! - are up now too on Shop at Home for countries outside the US!Volcano Base is a bargain! http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=8637&L...7&ShipTo=AU wow only $100 AUSD!!! cheaper then the mobile command centre!! Quote
Svelte Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Well, the Command Center does have an extra 400 pieces! Still, prices are reasonable and I'm glad the command center didn't end up at $AUD150. Quote

Turbo Chase is very cool. I think it is more impressive out of the box and it's my second favourite of the first 6 Agents sets. The helicopter is huge and nasty looking with a great spider function for Spy Clops, the gate works well and has a neat sound function, and the car is absolutely gorgeous and a treasure trove of metallic silver. All the models are well designed and satisfying to build. At $AUD90 I still think it is better value than the Speed Racer Grand Prix set for the same price, and if you get it in a sale period it will be even cheaper. Quote

Brainbox Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Pleased kind of, I was planning to do an Agents comics using pics of the sets when I got them, with a massive onslaught of puns and Bondvillainesque plans! Yet again, we've hit on the same idea independantly. Never mind though, as I'm planning on actually drawing mine, Lego-style. A real test, I have to say. I'm writingit as a six-part comic, with all sets featuring roughly as they're sold. And there's a 'death ray laser'. All the new Agents sets - including 8636 and 8637! - are up now too on Shop at Home for countries outside the US! Finally. Strangely, I didn't notice when I was on S@H earlier. The prices of the six missions are the same as those announced a while ago, but the sub and the volcano especially are excellantly priced. £50 for the volcano? Bargain! Quote

Finally. Bargain! The volcano is great, but the prices are a little more thna I thought they'd be. Still, I'll get them all, especially Dr.Inferno, does anyone else think of Dr.Drakken when they see him or is that just me? Oh come on, there is so much resemblance there! Batbrick Away! Quote

Oh of course, naturally, with a "Temporal Quantum Megatron Watt" power I'm guessing? Hmm... I quite like that. especially Dr.Inferno, does anyone else think of Dr.Drakken when they see him or is that just me? Not really... but then I'm too busy thinking about Kim. Quote
Batbrick Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Aw, shucks... Hmmm, I feel.....angry! No! No! I feel....good Hmm... I quite like that. Though I quite liked the "thrusting laser cannon" in svelte corps moc. I'm really interested in seeing how well the laser folds down in the actual set. Not really... but then I'm too busy thinking about Kim. Still, I was always a Shego guy. Did you watch the show? I loved it, such a brilliant take on spy cliches and supervillains without stepping into Dr.Evil territory Batbrick Away! Quote

canadianD Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Hey thanks for putting this up.I can't wait to get this but i don't have any set from this line,do you know how hard it is to find a decent priced agents set in my neck of the woods.I agree with whitefang again thanks for putting this up Quote
ClubNinja Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 When I first saw pictures of the Agents line, I honestly saw it as nothing more than a goofy kids' line that I'd want nothing to do with. I bought Mission 3 (8630) on a whim today and, while I've only built the minifigs and jet so far, really like it. The jet is a great vehicle, the figures are a ton of fun, and I'm completely won over. Good stuff. Quote
Brainbox Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) Though I quite liked the "thrusting laser cannon" in svelte corps moc. I'm really interested in seeing how well the laser folds down in the actual set. Look at pages 9 and 10 of the instructions. It's not amazingly clear because of the angle on 10, but it looks like it can fold in quite well. Looking at the mechanism on 9, I'd say it fold all the way down. Obviously the seat sticks out a bit though. EDIT: But that sticky-out seat bit may well be hidden by the base module that's built later on. Still, I was always a Shego guy. Did you watch the show? I just have a thing for redheads... But no, I've never seen the show sadly. When I first saw pictures of the Agents line, I honestly saw it as nothing more than a goofy kids' line that I'd want nothing to do with. [...] and I'm completely won over. Good stuff. I was a fan from the beginning, but it's amazing how many other people have said that. The first pictures came out and everyone thought it looked childish, silly and garish. But as better pictures started to appear, consensus changed, and it looks like Agents might well be one of the best lines out at the moment. Now all I need is to get the sets. Brickmaster Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Sorry, I haven't seen if this was covered yet, but does anyone know how much the Volcano base, and the Scuba + Boat set, will cost in USD? Thanks if anyone knows. Quote

I have to agree, this is my favourite theme of the year, even above Batman, can't wait to get the sets and hopefully the ones next year are just as good. Svelte Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Thanks to the new review it seems it is about as subtle as a trainwreck, but we can fix that ourselves can't we? I tested the laser because I knew too were interested in how it folded away - sadly, as you say, it is subtle as a trainwreck There is probably room for modding though, all you'd have to do is stick another BURP on top of the two in the middle section to make the volcano a bit higher - I think that would make the set look more volcano-like anyway. The problem is that the laser is so bag that for it to rotate it needs a bit of leeway. Quote

I have to agree, this is my favourite theme of the year, even above Batman, can't wait to get the sets and hopefully the ones next year are just as good. I love thep ieces and minifigs too, these sets are gold in every department frankly You know, much as it pains me to say it as a comic geek, I think I have to agree. With the obvious exception of Batman, it's been ages since I wanted every set in a theme. But it's not a rational want either, for parts and such, rather an irrational love for the set. The problem is that the laser is so bag that for it to rotate it needs a bit of leeway. Plus the inside need MODing as well. That throne needs to go in a less 'shoot-me-as-you-walk-through-the-door' sort of place, and there could do with being a few more things inside to make it look less bare. I still love the set though. Pencoin Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 i agree the interioer is pretty bland... i like where the throne is though, there is probsly a trap door there or something... '09 set - missle silo? (looking at turbo car chase) there seems to be a missle silo by the volcano base, of a launch pad or a something )any one notice the boat in deep sea quest has two black skellie legs? :skull: this has proably already been said but is agent charge dash? it looks like him i think dunno though...well i do hope to get all the agents sets im even trying to get a summer job for money Quote
Batbrick Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 More subtle than my jokes though... Please, a kick in the crutch is more subtle than your jokes! You know, much as it pains me to say it as a comic geek, I think I have to agree. With the obvious exception of Batman, it's been ages since I wanted every set in a theme. But it's not a rational want either, for parts and such, rather an irrational love for the set. Pains me too mate, but admittingly Harley is just not enough to beat the combined forces of Saw-fist, Break-Jaw, Gold Tooth, Spy-Clops, Slime-Face, Claw-Dette, Fire-Arm and Dr.Inferno. And with your obsession with puns you should be in 7th heaven. Plus the inside need MODing as well. That throne needs to go in a less 'shoot-me-as-you-walk-through-the-door' sort of place, and there could do with being a few more things inside to make it look less bare. I still love the set though. I like the throne position, when I get the set the throne will go about 6 bricks higher so he can lord over his master plan and tell his foes where the volcano destruction button is. Though there will be a trap awaiting those that enter of course! Oh, and i'll add a self destruct button of course. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Please, a kick in the crutch is more subtle than your jokes! And with your obsession with puns you should be in 7th heaven. Indeed. Speaking of, I went shopping the other day, and sauntered into what is possibly the worst Woolworths ever, and what did I find? Agents sets! They had Turbo Car Chase, Swamp Raid, Gold Hunt and Jetpack Pursuit. Jetpack pursuit was bizarrely overpriced at £11.99, so I decided to pass on that one. I didn't feel I could afford £40, so passed on the Turbo Car as well. To that end, I picked up Gold Hunt and Swamp Raid. Plus, Swamp Raid was (no idea why) priced at £11.23. Not marked down or on offer, just proced wrong. So I saved about £4, which is nice. Anyway, both sets are fantastic. Break Jaw and Gold Tooth are awesome. It's a pity the Agents don't have any hair in these sets, but never mind. Break Jaw's little boat has suddenly become my favourite vehicle in the whole range! Plus, the instructions for Swamp Raid contain a page with picture portraits of the four Agents, and the Inferno gang (sans Fire-Arm and Claw-Dette). That is so cool! Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 You got lucky with the mark down! I like the look of swamp raid, but I am saving my money for volcano base! Quote

Well done, Gold Tooth looks to be an awesome henchman. Also you got a standard henchman which is cool, I plan to make a couple of doubles (second and third Breakjaw, second Gold Tooth) torso's for generic henchmen as you only get two in the whole lineup. Is the little boat cool or just plain small? I'm asking my parents if I can order the Volcano Base and Deep Sea Quest today, as those two won't make it to stores here. I have nearly enough money, work helps. Do you plan on those two? I have to ask, is the motorcycle in Swamp Raid good? What about the ATV in Gold Hunt, is that good too? Of course I plan on all the Agents sets, they have overtaken the castle sets as my priority this year What do you plan on next? Batbrick Away! Quote
