Let me see, about two years ago....an op shop and in the toys and books section....an M.I.S.B. 7250-1.jpg

for only two dollars.

Then a few months later scored an early SW BP for three bucks at Kmart....must have been sitting in the store room for years till chucked back on the shelves.

I keep looking, but no bargains have I found since those two. :cry_sad:

Well using last weeks Toys R Us sale in the US, I bought the red passenger train and two Millennium Falcons. I got one of the Falcons for free with the discount. I had originally planned to buy two Grand Emporiums and the Pet Shop, keep one GE, and sale the rest but TrU did not include it in the sale.

Would probably have to be the Ninjago Fire Temple new for $70 AUD. Thats my best so far I think.

Im a bit jealous of the charity shop finds, I stopped checking them because the chances of Lego are just so low. Not surprising they hardly make it to the floor, i'd snap up any lego that came in too!

Probably my best bargin was back in July 2008 when TLG first posted the 10188 Death Star - for an extremely brief period they listed it @ 199.99 GBP (pre-order), which I dropped into my basket :classic: before receiving an email informing me that the price listed was incorrect and should have been the more familiar 274.99 GBP. However, in the same email, they let me have it for the lower price...

I got 8097 Slave 1

2304892_1.jpg

for about 50% of the local price. LEGO is pretty expensive here, so I wouldn't have bought the set if it were not for the sale (50% of the MSRP here is still about $60). It's a great set, never regretted buying it.

There have been many, many, many over the years.....one that pops out right away is this:

Target exclusive #4534 train set...

4534-1.jpg?0

I found this on a shelf years ago...it was not in their system. (had no idea what it retailed for at the time either) Brought it up to the cashier, she radioed to a manager who looked up the bar code further in their system, and said over the radio...$40, 75% off. Both me and the cashier thought she meant 75% off of the $40...I didn't understand how it was so cheap but got it for $10. Later I realized it retailed for $160 and the $40 was the clearance price, not the price to take 75% off of...oops. (I was probably like 13 years old)

When Lego clearanced out their 9v train track....I bought about a dozen of the 4515 straight rails for my collection....got them for $4.23 a piece. I ended up selling a few left over that I never opened on Amazon for about $75 a piece last year.

Lots of garage sales and random other finds as well....about a month ago a friend of mine found a large box of random sets for $40...he called me up straight from the garage sale and said there were "train parts" in it. He then said "she wants $40 for it and she won't budge...oh I see a part that says "Santa Fe"."

At that point I was like "BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I told him I would pay him for the box but he ended up just giving it to my since it was my birthday the week before. I still haven't really looked through much of it since I've been so busy, but there are instructions for the Sante Fe engine (and the engine is about 95% built), the large train shed, another train set, and random other sets and pieces. This should definitely turn out to be one of my top finds once I get some time to look through it.

Here's what happened to me today:

I was planning to get the Minecraft set if I could find it anywhere at the Fan Weekend in Skærbæk this weekend. I did find it, but forgot to pick it up as I was more interested in another set, and when I remembered, all the Minecraft sets were gone. Never mind, I thought, bad luck.

Then, today, after the event was officially over, I was in Billund with some other people. In the window of a second-hand store, literally a stone's throw from LEGO H.Q., what do I spot? A Minecraft box. Obviously, I got it. It had been opened, and I have to admit I haven't checked the contents yet, but the staff said that as far as they knew, it was complete. So, provided it actually is, when I get around to opening it when I get home, I'm reasonably certain it deserves its place in this thread. I'll keep you posted!

What did you say? How much?

12 Danish kroner. About 2 US dollars...

Whaaat? Two dollars?!?!? That's crazy! It'll sell for nearly $100 on eBay right now. Heck, there's an auction right now just for an empty box, and it's going for about $20 (with shipping) with another day and a half left. I've gotten some good deals. But never that good

I found 6 bags that contained about 50 parts each for £1:30 each but ive mostly had stuff bought for me as a kid so there is probably a better one to come for me.
