dillthepill Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Iamded, I agree, having SP3 sets would have been great, LEGO made their stupidest decision there, and classic yellow rox over fleshy/racist(:-P) colors. Questions: 1- Why do you guys get so mad about the bley color difference? 2- Could someone show me the difference via pics. so I can understand? Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) 1- Why do you guys get so mad about the bley color difference?2- Could someone show me the difference via pics. so I can understand? 1. Because it limits part usage from old grey and new - you may have a moc of totally old grey and you want to build a section, with new or special peices, that you only have in new grey. Although I have seen great new and old grey color contrasts in mocs, mostly it just annoys me as I have to be more careful and watchful when I build, and for the mostpart, the changed seemed utterly unnessicary. 2.Yes. Heres a picture of old and new dark grey. Old light grey and new. There you have it ;-) Edited January 23, 2008 by Brickmaster Quote

JINZONINGEN73 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 This has been mentioned in another thread, but the new version on the pin joiner round is hideous and the slot makes it nearly unuseable.Old version New version That's an annoying change. As for the hinge brick, I like the new one. :-P KimT WHAT. in. the. HELL did they DO to that beautiful piece?!? Holy shit, that went totally under my radar! The old type is so useful! Barrels to guns on mecha, especially. I'm in shock, really. I totally missed that they'd done this. X-O Evil, I tell you. EVIL. Wow. This is actually pretty freaking terrible... or it will be if Bricklink's supply ever runs out. :-( Anyway, I still think that more than even Galidor, that "Z'Nap" was the worst idea Lego had. --It was a direct attempt to rip off K'Nex. I mean come on, the names are nearly identical! Isn't this what had people mad about megablocks and other Lego clones? And here they were... doing the same thing. --The beams ended in asymmetrical teeth... mushy enough to not hold some axles right yet strong enough to damage OTHER Lego parts you may've tried to combine with them. --The beams, though covered in Technic friction holes, weren't even aligned in a straight line that one could attach a normal Technic beam to it... reason being, the holes were spaced at the wrong distances! Bleargh. I have to give credit where credit's due, for Znap parts HAVE helped me out from time to time in making some of my mocs... eh... Matn Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 That they are about to drop the Harry Potter line. C'mon only two movies to go! (Well, three, when you think of the last that will be cut in two movies) Don't drop it on the floor. It will break apart! =O Quote

The Daphne Blue Strat Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Another one would be losing the Pirates of the Caribbean license to Megablox....- Ravensomething Amen...bet they're kicking themselves over that. Or at least, I HOPE they are... To add a new (pretty mild) gripe: Pirates/soldiers can NOT shoot their muskets! When held in a "firing position" they hold them at waist-level...they got it right with the Wild West by having the handles on the rifles, so the figures could hold them to their shoulders. Too bad they didn't do muskets that way...maybe if they (ever) release Pirates again, they'll go that route. Quote
UFO Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 The discontinuation of the Lego Technic Figure was just silly. Those dudes are amazing. Fo Sho. Oh, and Bionicle colors dive me nuts. I liked the old 01-03 colors better than now, of which, everything is (the darker) Metru color. Bleh. Also, the dark grey color changes are just dumb. Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 toa inika's masks and heads, no more bionicle playsets, and new dark gray. Quote
Batbrick Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Not including beards in the released Viking sets made me very sad, those things would have sold like hotcakes if they had left them in. Batbrick Something! *wacko* Quote
astoriabluelegos Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Switching from 9V electric trains to battery powered trains. 9V may have been expensive, but electric trains are generally not very cheap. And even then, Lego train sets were still cheaper than Lionel train sets. And batteries are a great inconvenience. Also, I think destroying the molds for monorail track was not a good idea, especially when they were only used in 3 sets. I think it still would've had more potential. Dude I TOTALLY agree with you about EVERYTHING! The 9-Volt trains are SO cool, at least, according to LEGO, they will still exist through Factory. Which means unless we build them ourselves we won't get any new 9-Volt unless LEGO re thinks this stupid decision. I do however like the design of the Remote control trains because they are cool, and this means we can run multiple trains on the same track in different directions. As far as the Monorail, I have a fairly large Monorail setup and I agree that the system was underutalised. I was not aware that they had destroye the molds, Dumb, Dumb, Dumb... >:-( I don't understand what youre problem with color is. Personally I like the flesh tones since it destingished "Movie stars" from the normal fig. Also as far as bley and the others go, KEEP EM' COMING! *sweet* *y* I like having the new colors, for the old ones go to Bricklink, all these colors give you more oppertunitys for creating youre moc's in the right color. I also think dropping th Spiderman theme was dumb, but not as dumb as picking up Avatar and that idiot SPONGEBOB! :-| These sets are overprice and are only to be purchased on sale for their hard to find parts. |-/ Quote
Athos Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Not making the onion dome part symmetrical. What were they thinking? Steve Quote
Chuck Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Not making the onion dome part symmetrical. What were they thinking?Steve While I agree with you, You also have to realize that probably: A) It would always be with the back opened to allow for playability. Therefore, it would be pointless to have a set with 2 back to back. B) It would need 2x2 stud space on top so that the tip does not come off easily. -Chuck Quote

john cleese Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 I got over the color change without too much drama. I mean, when I first noticed the difference in color, I said "what the hell?!". but I decided not to even recognize this ridiculous color change and use both colors in my MOC's. But I've noticed that the color change still screwed me because with your bley and grey elements mixed, old grey can look discolored. So I find myself picking up grey elements, which I suspect are getting discolored, and comparing them to elements I know are old grey. Has this been a problem for anyone else? It's especially a problem for me as my elements are in ziploc bags stored in my Dad's loft, which is incidentally the room with the most windows. Fortunately he lives right by a large office building. Quote
