Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Good example on Pohatu Phantoka. New parts are good, but sometimes they can take away on innovativeness. Thought I disagree on the usefulness of the Inika parts and with someone's opinion on the Inika. Barring the masks and the oversized swords (due clearly to the addition of the strobe light battery box) the Inika frames were pretty good. Their arms were not as oversized as the Mahri's; stick the straight down and you'll notice. They had arms that were shorter than their legs, which makes sense to me. And they had some pieces that I found useful. Their bodies can be used as a single body or as part of a body (Gadunka), their thigh and shoulder armor are great pieces, and their frontal armor has come out in a variety of great colors and looks good. So I don't find them useless. On the downside, I wish that frontal armor was flatter and didn't have those holsters sticking out of their sides which make it hard to put them on wider surfaces. VK Well, you did make a good point on the innovative design on Gadunka for the Inika bodies... but the armor can hardly be used anywhere, let alone the masks and legs. The legs are just too large to be used correctly in a torso or waist. Also, I don't find them useless - just the overload of new pieces were. The Metru arms, ball joints, feet and heads are welcome to my collection. :-) Well... that was my opinion. -ZotS Quote
Natman8000 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I would have to say that in my opinion the toa metru were the best line. Great colors, weapons, masks, and concepts. They werent bulky like the inika were, and not filimsy. Now if they werent so simular to each other then they would be perfect. X-D Quote
Icesaber Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Hmm...hard question. Very hard. I don't think I can go with one answer here. First off, I'll say 2001. I absolutely loved the Rahi. When I looked at them on a site, I knew I wanted them badly. I have three Rahi sets, and they are awesome. Their functions, unique masks, how everything was integrated, I loved it. The Toa Mata were pretty cool, too. So were the McToran, and the Turaga. Something about all those sets drew me in. I'll be honest and say I don't like gears on canisters, but I still loved those sets. Next, I'll 2002, but only for the Boxor and Bahrag. I love the way the Bahrag look with their mouths open, and the Boxor was a work of genius. I liked 2004, but mostly for the Metru. Cool masks, armor, and I liked how their gears were sort of visible through the chest piece, but not completely. I don't know why, it just looked cool. Of course, 2004 also had Kikanalo, a set I've had a lot of fun with. Finally, 2007, for non-clone sets, something that had been missing since 2003-ish (if the Nuva weren't clones). The Barraki looked cool, and I like them very much. Of course, I also enjoyed the titans of that year. Quote
maiq the liar Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Well, i'm partial to the bohrok and the Bohrok/Kal*, since...I don't exactly know why...I just think it was the whole 6 v. 1,000,002** Feel of it all. i swear i am going to own the bahrag some day... *I call the kal Bohrok/Kal in a reference to various IBM OSes and computers, I.E: z/OS, system/360, PS/2, and to some extent, DOS commands I.E: DIR /?, DIR /P... **Was there 1,000,000 (1,000,002 if you count the bahrag, 1,000,009 if you count the bahrag and the /kal.) Bohrok? Quote
Deinonychus Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I can only agree that the Barraki are the best single line in the entire Bionicle run. I have ensured I have a permanent place for them on my shelf and I think their display longevity will be rivaled only by the Toa Mata...who I also agree are fantastic. Fantastic and Classic. I think that nostalgia carries them a long way in the whole "best line"argument. (nostalgia? that was only 7 years ago! *wacko* ) But a close second to the Barraki, for me personally, seem to have not even come up in this thread. The Toa Hagah, Norik and Iruini, are damn near perfect. Great articulation, cool weapons, and slick looking masks that create a really striking pair of toys. Yeah, their Rhotuka Spinners are pretty much made of fail...but their Spartan Warrior-like forms sure make up for that little mistake. Those two are also forever guaranteed a spot on my display shelves. Quote
maiq the liar Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I also liked the rahi even though i never owned any. They were just Killer animals, plain and simple. Not much as to outside influence (just to viciously kill/capture the toa), and almost no inside influence. Brilliant in their simplicity. Quote
