Now we know where the phrase "mooning" originated from.

Don´t close your eyes till this picture have left your mind. Might burn some nasty images onto your eyeballs.

This explains it all! Or... Well, at least sort of

Very good looking MOC. Like it jumped right out of the movie :classic:

Thanks!

Yeah, I know. It actually creates more questions. (E.g. why are monkeys able to breathe when there is not atmosphere, etc.)

I keep thinking of the song "too much monkey business"...

Ha, I knew it, I knew it all along, of course - It was the monkeys.

Nice combination of 2001 theme and planet of apes - intended? :monkey::knight:

Planet of apes?  No, that is just accidentally.

I have a tendency to include monkeys in my MOCs

You damn dirty Apes! *nevermind, different movie*

I'm diggin' those lights and base plates, they aren't the original ones right?

The lights are standard TLG and the base plates are the "good old" space baseplates.

Ow, I didn't know TLG made those lights, nice. ^^ The baseplates almost looked Tan to me, that's why I thought they where new/re-issued ones.

Ok, I get where you're coming from.

To mimic how things look like on the moon I went for strong contrasts and bright lights (+ shadows). So the baseplates are reflecting the light, but they are still standard "grey". :sweet:

Now secret footage of what happened a few weeks earlier has been found:

Funny thing about the movie, we were on the moon then before we had landed on the moon.

Ah, you mean that the movie was made in 1968...

Very nice creation! It has a lot of fun, when you know the story from behind the scenes!

Thanks    I probably should add some monkey-spacecraft to show how they got there.

(But they don't seem to need space suits anyway, so it is all probably done by magic)

Fine addition - thanks.

Only problem: now everybody sees the differences between my scene and the original :cry_sad:
