The new argos catalogue is out today and they have lots of new lego and nearly all of the january 2008 star wars sets. They even have the motorised AT-AT!

Yeah but it's such a shame that they still have the old castle line, bloody argos is stopping all the other shops from carrying the castle line >:-(

The new police station, which is surely just about the largest one ever, is

picked up the catalogue today and noticed the AT-AT ... it mentions a remote control ?! Does the set usually come with one ?

btw ... I also noticed that Woolworths now have new SW sets ... I picked up the two battle packs and saw the Anakin JSF too (didn't buy that one ... waiting for a sale). I assume the bigger stores may have the rest of the sets eventually.

I noticed that too, very strange, the photo on the Argos website also shows the remote control.

The AT-AT set only comes with one motor and the battery box.

There is certainly no IR receiver or remote control in the set I got from Shop at Home, and I can't imagine how the IR unit could be built in without some major reworking of the internal structure.

Argos seem to be getting worse with some of their descriptions. They also make it look like you get the Imperial Dropship and Rebel Speeder as one item for

Is the picture of the remote on the Argos site actually a lego one?! I'm not really familar with the parts ...

Yes, it works in conjunction with the IR receiver unit. You need both to get remote control. They come in the Monster Dino set and the Technic Bulldozer.

You can now also order the power function parts separately directly from Shop at Home. The motors and IR units are relatively cheap. The motors are

Also the Driller Unit and Switch Fighter Mars Missions have the wrong prices on (each other) for the picture.

It is a real shame for castle fans but it must be that the first sets did not sell to well in argos :'-( . There were a few sets on sale which normaly means it has not been a great seller. I am very please for the star wars sets though, but i wonder why they are not stocking the hailfire driod set? Argos is my closest toy shop (there really is nothing else nearby) so it is very good news for me. :-)

Yeah, I'm skeptical that is actually legal advertising/price display. I mean having a "was" price is a bit of a fraud.

7998 Heavy Haulage was the same though wasn't it ?

perhaps they're gonna do it with all the sets with very large elements ... eventually TLC will realise their pricing strategy for such sets is wrong, perhaps?

For Ireland, Lego S@H had the Heavy Hauler at the exact same price as Argos,

Oh i agree it is great for all SW fans, and i'm glad to hear you now have easy access to the sets.

It is strange though that they don't have the Hellfire droid set, i wonder why that is :-/

Same for me, Argos is the closest toy shop to me. Well apart from Woolworths, but their Lego selection has been going downhill for years. I wish Argos do have the new castle sets, I really want to get troll assault wagon, or whatever it is called X-D . On the plus side, Argos (online at least) are still listing the Skeleton prison Carriage as half price. *wub*

Is there not one of these "half price" deals every year? Last year the Heavy Hauler was half price all year and in 2006 it was the Fireboat? Not sure, but it looks like the seaplane is the "half price" this time round - it isn't on s@h yet.

As for Argos - my only warning is the condition of what you get. If you want to keep it MISB or you want to at least keep a good condition empty box, forget about Argos. The stuff gets thrown around the stock room like mad. I bought the ATST UCS recently and the box was burst open and I had to ask them to note on the receipt that it was opened in case when I built it there were bags of pieces missing (fortunately there weren't). At least when you see the items in TRU or woolies you can pick a decent box if necessary.

Yeah, but it's sold out everywhere near me. :-(

I missed out on that, buy 2 and you get 10 figs, 8 horses and a bunch of cool parts for

I don't know, I was a bit disappointed by the selection this time around. There just doesn't seem to be that much of any interest to me. Not nothing, just not much.

And how disappointing was it to realise that the Drill Unit wasn't a surprise

Oh, tell me about it. I don't think I've bought any Lego from Woolies since last January, and that's mainly because they didn't have anything I wanted.

I think it depends on the branch ... Woolies in Fareham, Hampshire generally has a good selection of SW Lego. I think they had all of the 2007 sets apart from the exclusives (obviously). Whereas the Portsmouth branch (which is bigger?!) usually only carries a few sets.

the woolies I go to is in Epsom, Surrey, and they have half an aisle of Lego, almost empty and a full up aisle of Mega-crap! The only SW set they had when I went their was 2 Sith infiltrators taking up a whole shelf! :'-(

:-D They have such a poor star wars selection in there! loads of half price UCS batmobile though 8-

All that said about Woolies though, I called into the worse of the two that are nearest to me today, and managed to pick up 3 sets. Not much new stuff over all though, so that's probably all I'll buy from there till Summer :-D

The Lego had been moved as well, from a shelf with lots of room to stand in front of (good, as I have my bag usually) to a realy thin aisle |-/
