I Scream Clone Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Wow nice work to both Spielbrick and theriddler. The figures look fantastic, well done! Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) Thanks to all for the reactions! Makes it worthwhile to keep doing more. Nostalgia time! At least, for those who were around in the seventies and eighties. I've created the fifth and re-created the third Doctor. Peter Davison's fifth Doctor Jon Pertwee's third Doctor (my second version of him: new old face + dandier costume) I hope the frequent visitors of this topic noticed the location change... I myself did not, at first! My third version of the ninth Doctor (anyone still keeping track of all the numbers?) is due soon. When my internet order finally comes in, that is... EDIT: just givin' you two more versions of Peter Davison to choose from. Edited June 1, 2008 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
zero1312 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Man, I can't believe that I missed this cool thread. Quote
Asuka Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Wow, a lot of cool MF characters indeed.... pretty cool, although I don´t know much about that show.... That Dalek looks cool, and all your MFs look very distinct for sure. You´re using these different heads together with some very fine torsos in a really smart way.... BTW, where´s that cool torso of your new third Doctor coming from...? Quote
hewkii9 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Oooh, dandy! I like the new Pertwee, and my favorite Davison would have to be the white-legged one. I really like these, and if I ever get around to making an order of my own, you'll have some competish! Quote
Sandy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 A fan of Doctor Who here (though I've only seen the new seasons)! I've got to say I love the minifigs! Maybe you'll get a group shot of all them at some point? Pretty please? Quote
Pencoin Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 you could do a suit creature (actually there are quite easy to do on LDD) Quote
hewkii9 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 you could do a suit creature(actually there are quite easy to do on LDD) What, from Silence in The Library? Too easy, a white helmet, space torso, clear visor, white legs and a skull. Although I must say I am not enjoying that story, why's it set in a library? The Unicorn and the Wasp was much better. Give the man a challenge. Here's a couple to try your hand at - The Eighth Doctor Martha [no idea what face you'll use, though] Davros Clockwork Robot Cybermen [if I make that order...] Quote
Hewman Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Thanks to the new series from 2005, I've discovered Doctor Who. Now we're up for the fourth new season, the third with David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. I've just started to make my own Doctor Who minifigs. The first result of this can be seen in this post, new creations will follow as I finish them. Feel free to post constructive critisism and perhaps even your own Doctor Who creations! is that torso for the Dr a custom? I've had a bit of a search on bricklink but haven't managed to find it yet. And while we're talking Dr Who I'm on the hunt for a great custom TARDIS if anyone has one. Edited June 3, 2008 by hewman Quote
brickbitz Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Some great figures there. I too think the 5th Doctor with white trousers is the best one. I like the dandy 3rd doctor costume, it's a shame that hairpiece dosen't come in white or grey. I'd even be tempted to try swapping the original 5th and 3rd hairpieces around Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) is that torso for the Dr a custom? I've had a bit of a search on bricklink but haven't managed to find it yet. And while we're talking Dr Who I'm on the hunt for a great custom TARDIS if anyone has one. None of the parts I use are customs. Everything's official. My tenth Doctor (pictured below, did you mean him?) has the torso and legs of the Harry Osborn minifig from the Spider-Man 2 line. And now... Fiiiinally I can present to you all the designs for 9 and 10 that I've been planning for months. Only today did I get Jungle Duel in the mail and I immediately split Mutt Williams into Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Christopher Eccleston's ninth Doctor David Tennant's tenth Doctor (oh, how I'd kill for a minifig trenchcoat...!) Passing along the sonic screwdriver: the Doctor's latest two incarnations in one pic In the pipeline at the moment: a better Rose Tyler, a better Jack Harkness, Jackie Tyler, the TARDIS from the outside and a Silence in the Library vignette. My tenth Doctor (pictured below, did you mean him?) has the torso and legs of the Harry Osborn minifig from the Spider-Man 2 line. yep, the David Tennant one was the one I was asking about, any chance of a link to the part (not a case of laziness in looking for it for myself, I looked for 10 minutes and couldn't find it*) *Although I thought i was thorough, this could have been a 'boys look', whereby it was actually the first torso I saw in my search but somehow had a blind spot and couldn't see it. Mr Spielbrick Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 The Tennant torso (gotta love alliteration!) is this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb226c01 Oh and hewkii9, if you can give me a good idea for Martha's face, I'm open to it! Tough combination in LEGO form: black and female. Not many of those. Probably even none... Quote
Svelte Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Your Doctor Who figs are great Mr Spielbrick I'm not so sure about the Eccleston torso though... his leather jacket is very plain with no detailing, and Mutt's is more like a biker's - lots of zips and pockets etc. Tennant is perfect though! Maybe for Martha you could customise one of the NBA sports heads - you could maybe find a face which is OK where you could just remove the 'masculine' details. There are threads in the Minifig customisation section about how to remove the print from bricks. At worst you could use the standard red-brown grin head from Slave I as a 'generic' head. Quote

Now I know why I couldn't find it, I put 'tie' in my search, seeing he's wearing a tie and this usually rates a mention in the item description. Edited June 5, 2008 by hewman Quote

Same, I liked the red jumpered one you did earlier most. And Ten is still good, tho my favorite has definitely been the first one. And Spielbrick, you're all talk, I want to SEE Jack And Jackie! Mr Spielbrick Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 (edited) By popular demand (namely hewkii9 )... the Tylers: And to round things off today, a teaming up of the new Rose with my latest Tennant design: Edited June 9, 2008 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
Pencoin Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Unfortantely i dont think the Rose and Jackie 'figs are that good, try swapping the heads Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 My old Rose had Jackie's head: ... but I think it makes Rose look a little, well, dumb. New fig: my first attempt at the Doctor as played by Paul McGann in the English / American movie, The Enemy Within: Quote
Pencoin Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 i dont think it makes rose look dumb at all the other one makes her look old Quote
Svelte Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 New fig: my first attempt at the Doctor as played by Paul McGann in the English / American movie, The Enemy Within: I love that McGann hair! Would never have thought of it myself, but it looks great. How is it from the back? Very clever idea. I think either face for Rose is fine, although I think your second choice is better. More individual looking. However I'm not sure about the girly girl pink top with cats on it. Doesn't seem very Rose, somehow. Good work, Mr Spielbrick, I love seeing all your figs even if I don't always agree with your choices Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 You're right about the pink-with-cats, svelte corps, but it's the only pink top I've got. For some reason I got the "Bad Wolf" Rose in my head when I made the fig, hence the pinkness. For the fourth series version of Rose, Jackie's torso fits better (ergo, I will change it soon). Speaking of Bad Wolf... Does this version please the fans of captain Jack Harkness? Quote
Plural Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) That Captain Jack is spot on. Do you plan to do the entire Torchwood Crew?. Edited June 24, 2008 by Plural Quote

And Jackie's great, I can just imagine her getting abandoned outside the TARDIS because she went back to get more groceries. Quote
Shoc Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) I've been looking at the figs in this topic for a while, but never actually commented. I really like the way you did the 8th Doctor and, more recently, Captain Jack! I'd love to see more! That Captain Jack is spot on. Do you plan to do the entire Torchwood Crew?. I second that... :skull: Edited June 25, 2008 by Shoc Quote
