Hi All,

Since my shelf with the FO TIE is unbearably airy, I've decided to have a go at a sort of docking bay like seen in the movie briefly on the Finalizer. While that actually should be a conveyor belt, this is a much simpler design, so while it's not an architectural masterpiece, I think it will do the job. It only exists in digital form yet on Mecabricks, as my priority will be to build the Endor diorama I'm planning.

Here's a link to the model if anyone would like to take a closer look, obviously it's WIP, I would take any criticism and suggestion thankfully.

I would upload pics but that's basically impossible on this forum without it being potato quality, and for some reason the insert from URL doesn't work either, so you'll have to check the link above.

Looking good! Are you going to design the whole hanger, or just a singular docking bay?

Nice! I hope you extend it a bit, I'd love to see that cable attached! Great work!

Nice MOC you got there, but you might want some more trans blue:

Yes, I was just checking out this exact screencap, I'll try to include some.

Unfortunately I won't be able to build the whole thing, but I am planning to extend it, next to the wings of the TIE on the outside I still have some space.

Yeah, the cable is a priority, after I checked the screenshots, there was no question there was going to be something like it.

Thanks all for the feedback, you came up with good points that I also thought of, and will definitely include sometime, but like I said, priority is on the Endor landing that I'm planning for a while.

But since all is silent on the work front, I'll probably have time to spare nowadays...

By the way, for the trans blue, if anyone has any idea on how to include those to retain the current shape I would be really thankful.

I've only found 2x2 trans blue slopes, but if I included a couple in the walls, it would f*k up the whole angle....

Alright, so I've finished the model (more or less) managed to sneak in a bit of trans blue but I'm not so sure about that. It looks like this now:

And now that I looked at the topic I realised I forgot the restraining cable....Anyhow, I'd love to see your feedback guys!

Edit: Added a chain element to simulate the cable, although on the wrong side, but you get the idea.. No gonna screenshot again, but the model is updated:

Nice updates! However, the slopes on either side of the tie are at a wrong angle. The slopes should go up at an angle slightly larger than 45-degrees.

Should look something like this^ You could put sloped bricks underneath!

Kind regards, Ellis

To be clear: I'm not exactly trying to recreate the docking bay seen on the Finalizer, compared to that, mine is 100% wrong. I was trying to create just a shallower bay, to compliment the setup in my restrained space, still showing as much as possible from the vehicle itself.

You're right, this technique would be more in line with that design, but I frankly don't like these solutions, because there will always be a gap between these plates and the sloped bricks.

I wanted to create something really wall-like, and sturdy, now my only concern is if the beams will support the TIE sufficiently, I don't want the whole thing to fall over. That's why the upper sections of the wall are hollow, to put the center of weight a bit lower, but I'm still skeptical about it...

Sorry that I misinterpreted your plans, I am now clear on your project goal.  Good luck with your project!
