Cruisers of Terra Nova

Citizens of Corrington, shipwrights of the Brick Seas. The Royal Navy has decided to outfit several ocean-going cruisers for Terra Nova to counter the build-up of Olean, Eslandian, and Mardierian Forces.

These cruisers will be sixth rate frigates, flanked by smaller consorts may be heavy sloops or post-ships. 6th rates and post-ships (bobs class 6) will be bought into service for a net of 100 dbs, while heavy sloops (bobs class 5) will be bought for 75 dbs.

All vessels will be licensed by the crown as necessary and be granted the honour of bearing the prefix “HMS”. For each three vessels submitted, the best will be awarded a choice from the list of captured prizes.

Signed

Rear-Admiral Fletcher

Commander, Royal Terra Novan Fleet

Pledged vessels:

The crown aims at commissioning these vessels as they are launched to give the Royal Terra Novan Navy the means to protect the interests of Corrington in New Terra. Sign up now to help shore up the Oaken Wall protecting our freedom of thought and action. All vessels will be used for a wide variety of tasks including combat patrols, pirate hunting, escorts and assisting our land forces.

@Flavius Gratian: I am expecting to reform this incentive a bit, which may mean slightly higher payouts. Do you need the 50 dbs right now (you will get any additional incentive later) or can you wait a bit?

@Mike S: Sounds great, Mike! (And Black Squadron it is) Tomsche already named a vessel Pendragon, though, so you might want to reconsider the name?

Haha I suppose I will have to think of another name then.

How about HMS Paladin?

Not to be interject in any way, but that was my preliminary name for my upcoming ship, mentioned in the PM. If you feel strongly about using it, by all means go ahead. I realise this sounds quite pompous but I can assure you I'm not at all bothered at you using this name :pir-sweet:

Not at all. So maybe the HMS Masquerade?

I'd build a figurehead and name her after that, that's how I got mine :pir-grin:

I’m kind of out of ideas for figure heads. I have two WIP ships that were done like that; the Silver Monkey and the Black Mare. This one being LDD I figured I would do in reverse; name it and then create the figurehead.

EDIT: I’m going to trademark the Silver Monkey, Black Mare, and the Masquerade for real brick ships and just name this one the HMS Unnameable.

@Flavius Gratian:

Since you are the first one to complete a vessel for this, you have your pick which squadron you would like the HMS Wentham to join. And give me a PM (or use the general COR pm) to let me know what sort of orders you would like for the next MRCA. Fletcher will surely have something for you. ;)

HMS Royal Oak has finally completed her refit and shake down cruises and is now commissioned as a sixth rate in the Royal Navy.

The Royal Terra Novan Navy extends its gratitude to the Allcock estate. The Royal Oak will bring pride to her majesty.

Further, I have rewritten the incentive a bit and increased the pay-outs somewhat.

@Flavius Gratian: I have paid out 75 dbs to you for the HMS Wentham.

Jorin Farrensman: They used to call me Oaken Leg. Now finally I can claim the title of Oaken Shield.

That is off course, if the admiralty is fine with two entries using a square rig, that being the HMS Ymir and the HMS Argonaut.

Edit: Oh, just checked and the different rig types only apply to the Merchant Marine.

Are we allowed to build ships of a class higher than class 6 ? I have a class 10 ship of the line that I would like to offer the Royal Navy. If it dosen't qualify as an entry to this chellenge, I would still like to hand her over to the Navy somehow.
