Jacob Nion Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Zhao Lin glanced at the sky. The winds were in her favour. Finally. After the death of the Fang Family, it had become too hazardous to stay in Rassilon. Every minor sailor who could afford a pistol tried to follow in their footsteps. Blood and thunder had come over the whole town. Lin knew she could not hope to gain the high ground. Not yet. She was in need of a new leader. Someone who could keep a fleet of drunk brutal lunatics together. Someone who would offer her structures to move up the ladder. There would have been dozens of proper raiding fleets in Bastion she could have joined. Her men were complaining under their breath. Most of them disliked the idea of joining a foreign pirate captain. In a quiet moment, her first mate challenged her decision:” Captain, why Isla del Diablo. Why that man? I’ve talked to some people in Bastion... they never saw him, never talked to him. He does his own thing down there on that sick isle. And nobody knows what he’s up to. Nobody knows him.” Lin was sure about here decision. She answered:”Cho Fang was prudent. He took care of his people and never ran a risk. That is why his crew betrayed him. Li Fang tried to act audacious. But he lacked his father’s intelligence. He ran right against the wall. That Captain Morgan has the right balance. Bold enough to use every chance, smart enough to stay away from the gallows. My mind says to me that he will come a long way. And whatever his secret plans may be, I will make sure use it for me.” Additional shots: _______________________________________________________________________________ This is the Lǒngzhōu, a class 4A junk. I always wanted to do a junk and experiment with far eastern designs, since I find it a wonderful addition to the world of BoBS. I eventually began building her when I realised the Troll Warship's sails would be suitable for a junk. She carries 8 cannons on the gun deck, 2 larger bow chasers, and a single cannon in the stern. Most fun part was to construct the unique hull. Edited February 6, 2017 by Jacob Nion Quote
Kai NRG Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Excellent junk JN, I really like the string of Chinese lanterns - great choice of color - and the black line design along the side. The double dragon heads is also super creative, and NPU with the pant leg there! Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I'm honored to have the story of the Fang family used in your post! And your Junk is amazing! The front part being flat with the one straight angle is especially true to source material. Quote
Kwatchi Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 A very well thought design; especially that SNOT hull. I spent a few minutes admiring it this morning. And even with that nasty crew of cutthroats, the patio lanterns give it a party boat feel. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Cool ship! Very visually interesting. I like the use of the black turntable piece in the red stripe on the side, the slotted titles on the cabin roof, and the window frames used for the main hatch. The lanterns are great, and tiled decks always make ship look good. The lattice effect along the side of the cabin are cool, too. Excellent ship all around! Quote
kaiju Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Please allow me to join the chorus of being impressed by the hull construction. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Strange ship , great characters - and great gallions! And those lanterns give it a nice touch. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Great Junk ! The hull design is brilliant and I really like the double dragon heads ! Just excellent idea ! Great job ! Quote
Bregir Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Another great ship from your shipyards, CAPTAIN Benjamin Morgan. More like ADMIRAL by now, though! ;) I absolutely adore the hull. It has the boxy appearance quite typical for a (piece of... :P ) junk and is loaded with details of the same cultural heritage, which I think really adds character to the build. I like the smaller broadside guns paired with two heavy bow chasers. Suggests something about the purpose, prey, and tactics of this vessel! ;) I really like the way the stern chaser is hidden behind the shudders, and the bow is very elegant, in its own way, while still looking imposing. If you were to find new challenges, I would suggest trying out an entirely custom rig. And custom junk sails isn't really something we have seen much of here, although they are very distinctive. The only one I remember right now is my own "Dozy Dragon" and I would love to see others' take on it. In any case, great work! Quote

Kolonialbeamter Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Heck, yeah, now that's a piece of junk! Lovely cliché Asian design elements. and I just love that use of boxes for gunports. I agree that custom sails would suit the ship better, but then, you've built the ships around the availability of those Lego-sails in the first place... But maybe we can hope for more junk from you at some point? Quote
