Built for the Vastlands Cross category of the 2017 LEGO speeder Bike Contest over on Flickr. I decided to go with a Rock Raiders theme for my bikes this year, which was great fun. We acquired several Rock Raiders figs and some dark turquoise parts at BFVA 2016, so it was good to put them to use.

The Rapid Rider is well equipped for it’s trek across the vastlands, with its chrome drills ready to decimate any obstacle in it’s path. In the unlikely event a repair is needed, there are survival supplies and tools in the satchel. It also comes with retractable landing gear for easy maintenance and landing.

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome :classic:

That's not what Rapid Rider looks like...

Great build with inspiration that strikes a chord with me, LJ!  The Rock Raiders theme is one of my favorite from my childhood.

I really like the inclusion of the drills in a location that makes them unrealistic (just like most of the official sets), as the nose of the speeder would collide with the rock wall to be drilled before the drills could work!  The color scheme is true to the original theme, and I like it!  Nice saddle packs for tools and survival gear!  The chrome gold grille and huge flame in back really help complete the RR look.  I also really like the brown hands and clips as nose details, as they remind me of the cockpit roll cages in the official sets.

That rockscape is lovely, and the different crystal colors really help the background to stand out without pulling too much attention away from the speeder.  Nice work!

Axel should have had his attention grabbed by such a blatant energy crystal seam as he passed.  He must have been moving too fast.

Haha, whoops, didn't realize the name was an actual set :grin: Glad you like it, it was a lot of fun to build! Yes, the drills are in a rather poor location if you actually want to drill things with them. Maybe they can double as blasters? Glad you like the brown details, I wanted to incorporate at least a little bit of it. And yes, he was obviously going too fast to notice those precious crystals...:laugh:

Awesome design LJ, and I like the choice of theme!

Great design! Fits very well in the Rock Raiders theme! And a nice surrounding.

I agree with LegoMathijs.

It is always nice to see Rock Raiders MOCs. :classic:
