Jipay Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Can someone explain why do we have to migrate our mocs folders to Maj.com ?????I went there and its exactly looking like brickshelf, your user name is the same - you only have to migrate pics !!!!!! This is weird !!!!!! oh well, i'll migrate it anyway. send me your pics, i can stock them for you in there Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 29, 2005 Author Posted May 29, 2005 Why migrate? Because the people at maj.com created Brickshelf. I don't know the whole story, but they must of had great success in the LEGO theme area. And also because of the request from fans, Brickshelf might have been created. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 29, 2005 Governor Posted May 29, 2005 It sure was lucky that I obtained copies of all the Pirate pages... Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted May 29, 2005 Governor Posted May 29, 2005 MAJ looks just like BrickShelf! What's going on here? Quote
jonfett Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Well as we just discussed, they were both made by the same group. But what we (or I at least) am not sure if what came first.. Maj or Brickshelf?? Jon. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 29, 2005 Governor Posted May 29, 2005 Its a conspiracy! MAJ was a clone of BrickShelf, and now its gone and killed BrickShelf... Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 30, 2005 Author Posted May 30, 2005 Why would the same group who created Maj.com go and "kill" a part of their own group (Brickshelf)? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 30, 2005 Governor Posted May 30, 2005 Why does anybody kill one of their children and not the others? Quote
ApophisV Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Maj hadn't and won't kill Brickshelf. Brickshelf existed longer than maj.com, as far as I remember maj has been created not that long ago. (Mostly to avoid too much "thats me" folders and such in the Brickshelf file system I think) I have read the thread on lugnet about the problem and it doesn't sound like Brickshelf will disappear. I'll post the link if I find it again. Quote
snefroe Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 thanks for the link, apo. it seems it's blown a bit out of proportion by the community... they're just asking for a little patience to solve the instructions/scans problem. brickshelf gallery is not going away i don't understand why tlc doesn't take over the scans/instruction section. no copyright problems, complete collection, money can't be a major obstacle either, fulltime assistance to maintain the site,... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 30, 2005 Governor Posted May 30, 2005 There are other websites with the catalog scans. And they appear to be indentical to the ones of brickshelf, therefore I conclude that someone "borrowed" them from there for their own website. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 30, 2005 Author Posted May 30, 2005 Yay! Brickshelf isn't going away! Good news! And about the instruction scans copyright thing, I really don't think TLC minds, as long as there are no noticable alterations and that somewhere in the scans, it has TLC's copyright (with the date of production, TLC's name, etc...) Besides, this site has about 1,000 different building intructions. That's way more than Brickshelf, and it has been up for quite some time now, so I guess TLC won't sue if you have the right disclaimers and clearly shown copyrights. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 30, 2005 Governor Posted May 30, 2005 Ah yes... This was the site I was referring to Mr Bildur. I can't remember where abouts on the message board I was referring to it though. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 30, 2005 Author Posted May 30, 2005 MORE BREAKING (AND GOOD) NEWS!! Straight from Jake McKee on Lugnet: Sean Kenney, the owner/webmaster of MOCpages.com, asked me to send along an update note.Sean recently got married and went on what has to be the coolest and longest honeymoon - a trip around the world in 80 days still adventure. Unfortunately, MOCpages had a normal maintenance hiccup about two days after he left, and while it's pretty simple fix, he needs to be home to fix it. He left me word from one of his random moments of Internet access that he will get the site back up and running as soon as he gets home, around mid/end July. Sean wanted me to make sure that to pass along his apologies for any problems that this service interruptions may cause. Sorry for delay in getting this note posted. Sean and I emailed earlier this week, but I have been swamped with work and the Inside Tour activities. Jake --- Jake McKee Community Liaison LEGO Community Team YAY! Mocpages is coming back! Finally, some good news! On another note, congrats to Sean Kenney on the marriage and honeymoon! :') Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 31, 2005 Governor Posted May 31, 2005 Pffffffffffffft! I don't need such websites anyway! Plenty of other places to host images, obviously without the LEGO communical thing going though. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 That is because you have your own website. ;) For the rest of us, Mocpages, "interlaced" with the abilities of Brickshelf, is a great online gallery for your LEGO pictures. On Mocpages, you get to describe each image for a better understanding of each picture. Best of all, it's free. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 1, 2005 Governor Posted June 1, 2005 Indeed I do. However MSN and Yahoo provide their own Free Photo Album services in which you can post as many images as you want with descriptions. Quote
